A Florida man who allegedly planned to attack an elementary school over its "obnoxious pride in America" was taken into custody earlier this week, according to WTVT.
Andrew Ivan Aman, 22, plotted to stab students at Bellamy Elementary School in Tampa, Fla., according to a document issued by the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office on Monday.
He was motivated by the school's "obnoxious pride in America," which authorities said referred to a large American flag mural on the front of the building.
Aman was leaving his house with a kitchen knife stashed in a handbag when his roommate found out about the plan, in which he intended to "stab as many children as possible," according to the police document. |

A drug addict in Philadelphia with a very long criminal history was being served with a warrant to appear in court. Several police officers tried to deliver the warrant. The criminal shot these officers and the other officers who responded.
Philadelphia politicians said that the next gun law is the one that will make us safe. Only a drug-addled addict, or the mainstream media, could believe that. |

House Democrats announced Friday that the Judiciary Committee will cut short its six-week August recess to begin work on a flurry of gun control bills in response to deadly mass shootings in Texas and Ohio.
The massacres of 31 people in El Paso and Dayton reignited the debate on gun laws, though its unclear how far Senate Republicans are willing to go even with President Donald Trump saying hes open to expanding background checks and so-called red flag laws to keep firearms out of the hands of dangerous people. |

President Donald Trump is calling for more mental health facilities to combat gun violence in the wake of deadly shootings in Texas and Ohio.
Trump decried the closing of "institutions" at least twice on Thursday, when he held a rally in Manchester, N.H.
Years ago, many cities and states I remember so well closed mental institutions for budgetary reasons. They let those people out onto the street, he said during the rally. Were going to have to give major consideration to building new facilities for those in need. We have to do it." |

And at one point, Kern County District Attorney Cynthia Zimmer showed up to watch the proceedings, suggesting that the unusual nature of the case, and the use of California's so-called "Red Flag" laws may be attracting attention in the legal community.
Finally in new testimony, Kern County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Damian Nord responded to a statement by Abbasi earlier this year who stated, If I was a true threat there would have been a body count already.
Abbasi asked Nord whether such a statement wasn't reasonable for someone who authorities had suggested might very well be capable of perpetrating a mass shooting. |

The reason the 2nd Amendment is 2nd is because of the importance of self-defense. It is of equal importance with freedom of speech, the press, and religion.
It is not the right to hunt that is protected, it is the right to protect ones life (and family) and property. And most importantly, in the opinion of those who sacrificed so much to establish this constitutional republic, the right of the citizens to protect themselves from their government. |

Aguilas stumpy little Minishell shotgun shells are a mere 1.75 inches long, but they work pretty well. Back at the 2017 SHOT Show, I fired several and hit more clay targets than I missed with them. Also nice was the reduced recoil and report. This leads some folks to wonder how well they would work in a home defense situation and Paul Harrell takes a look at that in the video below. |

A gun-rights group sued Thursday to block California from enforcing its assault weapons ban, contending it violates the Second Amendment right to bear arms.
The lawsuit was the latest among gun advocacy and lobbying groups to challenge Californias firearms laws, which are among the strictest in the country, and comes after a recent series of deadly mass shootings nationwide involving military-style rifles. |

Trump earned a tsunami of cheers each time he referenced the importance of the Second Amendment to his core constituents, many of whom traveled from as far away as Florida to attend the rally.
Its not the gun that pulls the trigger, its the person holding the gun, Trump said, promising to create new facilities to treat mental-health and other behavioral illnesses. We will always uphold the right to self-defense and we will always uphold the Second Amendment. |
