Since the shooting at the Covenant School in Nashville ended with six dead, thousands of Tennesseans have called for the state legislature to have a meaningful conversation aimed at gun safety.
But Republicans have little appetite for measures restricting access to firearms.
Opponents have, at times, blamed lawmakers lack of action on gun-specific policies on the financial influence of the 5-million member National Rifle Association and other gun-rights groups that have voraciously decried the special session as an attack on the Second Amendment. |

Vice President Kamala Harris (D) recently laid out the Biden administrations laundry list of anti-Second Amendment desires, and while none of it was new, none of it was good news, either.
Harris, it should be noted, was tipped to be Bidens leading voice on the issue and, as such, its important to take what she says at face value, including what she recently said at an Everytown-sponsored event that was politically labeled as the Gun Sense University. |

Legislation introduced this week by state Sen. George Borrello would allow judges who are licensed pistol permit holders to carry their weapons in their courtrooms.
The bill (S.7633) has been referred to the Senates Rules Committee. It wont be considered, if at all, until the state Legislatures next sesson begins in January. Judges had been allowed to carry weapons in court before the state Legislature passed the Conceal Carry Improvement Act in June 2022, while Borrello noted some judges have raised concerns about the amount of time it would take police to respond in some rural areas that dont have court security officers or metal detectors. |

SB 295 requires revision of state law related to grizzly bear management if, or when, they are removed from the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Among the rules outlined that have raised concern among conservationists is that any grizzly killed by FWP, the Department of Agricultures Wildlife Services, or a person acting in self-defense would not count toward a quota for the number of bears that may be killed. The quota is meant to halt any more grizzly bear deaths and could include prosecution for grizzly kills following the announcement that a quota has been filled for an ecosystem. |

The EAA Corp. EAA/Girsan MC14T Tip-Up pistol has been out for only a short time, but the company has already announced the MC14T Lady Tip-Up, a stunning addition to the MC14T line of firearms.
If you missed the big launch of this pistol in spring 2023, lets remind you what is so unique about this easy-loading pistol that has the semi-automatic pistol market abuzz: The slide does not need to be racked for a round to be chambered. Thats right, all you need to do is utilize the Tip-Up barrel feature to load a round, lock the barrel, disengage the safety, and fire. See a video on how it works here. |

In a 2021 survey, 15% of American adults admitted to using illegal drugs (mostly marijuana) in the previous month.
Other surveys suggest that something like 12 million of those drug users owned guns, making them guilty of a federal felony that is currently punishable by up to 15 years in prison. Yet fewer than 150 Americans are prosecuted for that crime each year.
Those odds make Patrick Darnell Daniels Jr., a Mississippi man who had two guns and the remains of a few joints in his car when he was stopped for a traffic violation last year, extremely unlucky. |

In Arkansas and across the country, 74% of young people in the U.S. believe gun violence is a problem, and 60% want to see stricter gun laws, according to a new report from American University, the Everytown for Gun Safety Support Fund and the Southern Poverty Law Center.
Researchers polled a representative sample of 4,100 people, ages 14 to 30.
Wyatt Russell, senior program manager and policy analyst with the Polarization and Extremism Research and Innovation Lab at American University in Washington, D.C., said a generation raised in an era where mass shootings are ubiquitous is very worried about school safety, which also contributes to a rise in anxiety and depression. |

We're always looking for something different for our raffles, and the M+M M10X 7.62x39 fits the bill in spades.
Yeah, it looks like an AK, but it's not. It's a unique design that includes features of some of the world's best rifles, making the M10X the first international defense rifle.
You could think of it as an AK alternative, built with HALF the parts of a standard AK, making the M10X accurate, easy to clean and service, and ultra reliable. And it accepts pretty much any AK magazine. Watch the in-depth video below for a complete review. |

On August 22nd, the Senate Public Safety Committee will hear Senate Joint Resolution 7, to call for a constitutional convention to amend the U.S. Constitution, in order to spread California-style gun control schemes nationwide. This resolution was introduced on Monday and comes at the request of Governor Gavin Newsom, as he and other anti-gun radicals come to the realization that the Second Amendment does, in fact, protect the right of the people to keep and bear Arms. It cites many anti-gun talking points as justification to do either, or both, of the following: |

A federal appeals court on Thursday dismissed a lawsuit challenging a New Jersey law that creates a pathway for the state to sue the gun industry.
A three-judge panel on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 3rd Circuit ruled the lawsuit brought by the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), a firearm industry trade association, was filed too early. The group challenged the law before enforcement began. |

A judge in central Illinois judge has dismissed a trio of lawsuits brought by a former Republican attorney general candidate challenging the states sweeping gun ban, citing last weeks state Supreme Court ruling that upheld the law in a separate case. The outcome was expected after the high court in a 4-3 decision said the ban on an extensive list of high-power semi-automatic weapons and high-capacity magazines does not violate the state constitutions equal protection clause.

Pay attention people. Our governor J.B. Pritzker and his AG have been trying for years to undo our Second Amendment rights. Now they are attacking our First Amendment rights.
If you look at any autocratic nation they first took away peoples' guns and then their free speech. After that there was not any other freedoms that could stand.
The government should serve the people, not the other way around. You may not care about the Second Amendment, maybe not very much about the First Amendment, but when they come for the amendments you do care about, how will you protest once free speech is abolished? |

When crowds of young people flooded the state Capitol last March to protest gun violence, I felt inspired and hopeful for change. They showed up day after day to demand safer gun laws. But their cries for change were ignored. The Tennessee General Assembly controlled by a GOP supermajority showed indifference. Young people whove come of age in the endless cycle of school shootings were disregarded by lawmakers whove never had to hide under a desk or sit through a lockdown drill. |

Marylands top court will hold off on deciding whether the states ban on gun possession for people convicted of certain nonviolent crimes violates the Second Amendment while the U.S. Supreme Court considers a similar case.
The Maryland Attorney Generals Office asked to put the case on hold last month to await the outcome of United States v. Rahimi, a federal case for which the U.S. Supreme Court granted certiorari on June 30.

Ever have one of those days when it occurred to you an idea you had actually started off bad, and went steadily downhill from there? This began on a Sunday morning in mid-July when for reasons I still cant explain it seemed like a grand notion to start prepping for my early season small game hunting, which kicks off Sept. 1 for cottontails and catches fire Sept. 15 when the grouse season opens here in Washington. The catch: Im going to use a rimfire pistol on the opener. |
