Wednesdays shootout in Philadelphia that left six of that citys courageous police officers injured stands as yet another example of the failure of gun control because the suspect, in this case, has been identified as having a lengthy criminal background that precluded him from possessing firearms, the Second Amendment Foundation said today. |

An NRA-certified firearm instructor was doing some recreational shooting in a gravel pit in Nevada one day and was approached by a deputy who said some nearby residents called in complaining about the noise. Thats right. It happened in Nevada, a state where its largest city boasts that What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas; and a state where the federal government owns 63 percent of the land. So why is it so much of a nuisance for someone to exercise one of their constitutional rights?

Whenever you as a law-abiding Concealed Carry citizen are involved in a deadly-force shooting, much is at stake, even when you acted according to the law. More than not, you the innocent defender will be arrested and charged with the felonious use of your gun until the facts of the situation are determined. Then there is the high-cost necessity of hiring a criminal defense attorney for yourself. Estimates for this for a typical felony case are from at least $10,000 to well over $100,000, depending on case complexity and the jurisdiction. And the burden of proof is generally on you the righteous self-defense shooter, to show that you used your handgun legally in self-defense, depending on your state laws. |

Their production of powders, cases, primers, and lead along with a specialized loading system allow them to guarantee reliability. With over 3.5 billion cartridges manufactured to date, its clear that NobelSport is no rookie when it comes to producing quality ammunition. |

Spirit Plaza in downtown Detroit will host a rally Sunday afternoon urging two pieces of federal legislation regarding guns in America: mandatory background checks before gun sales, and a process to allow law enforcement to temporarily remove guns from people's homes who exhibit "red flags."
Sunday's rally comes just hours after an eight-hour period, between Saturday night and Sunday morning, where Detroit had eight people shot, one of them fatally, at six shooting scenes.
"Our focus is to get Congress to act at a federal level to get background checks passed," said Lindsay Warren, a deputy leader of the Michigan chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. |

As the National Rifle Association flounders, some upstart pro-gun groups see an opportunity to become the nations most influential gun rights organization. The groups say theyre attracting new members and raking in donations. Theyre hiring additional staff to work on grassroots advocacy and lobbying. One is going so far as to discuss at a conference in September how to fill the void left by the NRA, which has struggled to address internal squabbles and accusations of financial mismanagement.

In an essay published Wednesday in the Washington Times and on Thursday by Fox News, that cable networks senior legal analyst, Judge Andrew Napolitano, wrote strongly against the concept of so-called red flag laws, arguing that they do not pass the constitutional smell test.
The concept of a red flag law which permits the confiscation of lawfully owned weapons from a person because of what the person might do violates both the presumption of innocence and the due process requirement of proof of criminal behavior before liberty can be infringed, Napolitano wrote. |

Gun owner Harvey Friedley seemed a little disappointed as he looked around himself inside the large hall where the Bakersfield Gun Show was taking place Saturday at the Kern County Fairgrounds. Scores of customers strolled the aisles checking out hunting gear and accessories. But with half a dozen vendor tables left vacant, he couldn't help noticing the show wasn't as busy as it had been in years past. "They used to be, man, (vendors) were almost stacked on top of each other," the 83-year-old Bakersfield resident said.

Gun manufacturers arent going to love me for writing this, but you dont have to buy a brand-new shotgun for your home, shop, truck or boat when there are thousands of them in great condition on used-gun racks everywhere. You can pick one up for a song and turn it into an ultimate self-defense shotgun with a few simple mods. Heres how. |

Both the Constitutional right to bear arms and fears of mass shootings dominated U.S. Sen. Joni Ernsts town hall Saturday in Polk County. About half the questions asked at the hour-long gathering touched on firearms in one way or another. One person, describing herself as a teacher, asked when she could go back to working without a curriculum that included active shooter drills. Another warned that so-called red flag bills would lead to a slippery slope of revoking some Second Amendment freedoms. |

Democratic presidential candidate and Sen. Kamala Harris (Calif.) has taken the concept of red flag gun confiscation laws a step further with a proposal to take guns away from white nationalists who might commit a hate crime. According to a policy proposal on her campaign website Wednesday, Harris said she would work to combat and disarm violent hate from white supremacists by pushing for legislation to give courts the ability to issue Domestic Terrorism Prevention Orders to take away the guns of a suspected terrorist or individual who may imminently perpetrate a hate crime.

Mass shootings in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, have highlighted once again the importance of the Supreme Courts 2008 landmark decision District of Columbia v. Heller declaring that the Second Amendment protects an individuals right to possess a gun. Writing for the Courts conservative majority, Justice Antonin Scalia held that a Washington, D.C., gun law banning handguns and requiring that even lawful guns in a home be kept nonfunctional violated the Second Amendment. |

Citizens of England and Wales are actively pursuing interests in shooting sports despite strict gun control and pressure from anti-gun groups. The number of firearms licenses across England and Wales is now at a record peak, with approximately 597,000 guns this yearan amount 160,000 more than 10 years ago, according to the Home Office. The Home Office estimated that each legal gun owner owns an average of four guns. These figures do not include shotguns, which are subject to different licensing.
