Federal investigators say seven women purchased more than 30 handguns at Detroit-area stores at the direction of a convicted felon who couldnt possess firearms.

Charges were filed Wednesday against the women and Ruemondo Murray. The women are accused of conspiracy and making false statements while buying guns last fall, typically at Dunhams stores. Investigators say Murrays goal was to resell the weapons on the streets.

Agent Mark Jackson said in a court filing that the Smith & Wesson guns are among the most common handguns discovered in Detroit crimes. Some guns turned up in an Ontario, Canada, storage unit in March.

Governor Andrew Cuomo took a few potshots at the already dying right to keep and bear arms in The Empire State as he signed more gun control bills into law. Surprise, surprise. New York is hardly a bastion of respect for the Second Amendment and has more than its share of common sense firearms restrictions. While anyone with actual good sense already knows better than to let a Democrat politician around their guns, this is as good a time as any to recall that Liberty Nations Graham J Noble was and still is correct: The party of progressives is absolutely out to disarm us.

Of course, as a society, we have nothing to offer the victims and future victims of mass shootings but our shopworn thoughts and prayers because we know collectively, were not going to do anything about them. Lets own the fact that we have more of a stomach to see dead children than to confront the gun lobby or make other societal changes.

The frequency of recent mass shootings in recent years has had a numbing effect. How can we grieve a massacre a month, honor the victims and understand the motives of every deranged killer and still maintain some sense of normalcy in our lives? On a typical month in 2019, around 50 people die is mass shootings. We can be forgiven for not paying attention each time. How is this new normal in any way acceptable?

Three dedicated, hard-working, thoroughly committed NRA directors have resigned their seats in protest of the leaderships heavy-handed tactics, and the inability to gain access to information critical to them fulfilling their fiduciary responsibilities. Ester Schneider, Tim Knight, and Sean Maloney tendered their resignations this morning, and they were, I suspect, gleefully accepted by President Carolyn Meadows. Im very disappointed to see them go, but know that they will continue the fight.

Two of those bills are gun-control laws, which took effect late last month.
