One of the first, and arguably the most influential, big bores air rifles was brought to market by one of the original American manufacturers of PCP air rifles, AirForce Airguns out of Fort Worth Texas. They developed a line of big bore rifles appropriately called the Texan, that on the surface resembled their standard caliber (.177-.25) models but was in fact loaded with new technology. In recent years, the Texan has become the most popular large caliber hunting air rifle on the market. Since the initial release, I have used Texans in different calibers and configurations to take deer, javalina, hogs, predators, and exotics such as aoudad, and can attest to their effectiveness and reliability.

6 mm ARC (short for Advanced Rifle Cartridge) is a rifle cartridge developed from the 6.5 Grendel round, necked down for 6 mm bullets. A 6 mm ARC bullet will remain supersonic at 1,000 yards and beyond, which makes it ideal for situations which require precise hits at longer ranges. Better still, the 6 mm ARC round is short enough to fit inside the receiver of almost any AR-15 pattern firearm. With an upper or a dedicated rifle in 6 mm ARC, the AR-15 you know so well can now reach out and make on-target hits at 600, 700 or even 1,000 yards.

Mandatory sampling of deer shot in chronic wasting disease zones will resume this year, and zones have expanded following detections of the disease in wild and captive deer. Minnesota hunters will be able to shoot more than one deer in almost half of the state's permit areas, the Department of Natural Resources said this week in announcing regulations for the fall deer season.

Readers are likely familiar with doctors attempts to position themselves as uniquely qualified to dictate firearms-related policy. Professional medical associations have a long history of producing recommendations they claim are evidence-based without any actual evidence or, worse, acknowledging the lack of evidence but demanding the policy still be enacted. Well, it turns out surgeons dont follow their own recommendations either.

Eliphalet Remington founded E. Remington & Sons in 1816 in Ilion, New York. He began with a simple idea that has driven countless American entrepreneurs: Sure, there was no shortage of flintlock rifles on the market. However, Remington believed he could do it better. To that end, he built himself a flintlock rifle for a shooting competition. At the age of 23, Remington didnt win gold, but he did take the silver. |

By now, Second Amendment supporters are probably aware of what the ACLU put out regarding the origins of the constitutional provision that protects our right to keep and bear arms. This isnt a mere whopper, its a Triple Whopper with Bacon and Cheese with appropriate apologies to that delicious fast-food burger for being associated with a blood libel. |

August 1st, North Dakota will join the majority of states in this nation that are Stand-Your-Ground states meaning that one will not have a legal duty to retreat before using deadly force in self-defense. Only about a dozen states still have duty-to-retreat laws in place. I should note that some states, like California, are Stand-Your-Ground states not by statute but by case law.

Gun shows are safe, appropriate events that frequently take place across California. Yet many gun control advocates cite dubious statistics about gun shows to justify support for legislation to end gun shows on state property, such as fairgrounds. Some would have you believe that California gun shows are lawless events where vendors sell guns to violent gangs or without paperwork. Nothing could be further from the truth: California gun shows are more highly regulated than brick-and-mortar gun shops.

In 2019, Taurus Intl made the business decision to set aside the companys more unusual and exotic offerings. Instead, the team focused its efforts on improving product quality and manufacturing consistency while continuing to offer reliable handgun options that met its customers needs at affordable prices. Among the top offerings that year was the TX22, an innovative, increased-capacity, .22 Long Rifle-chambered pistol. The company also upgraded its compact polymer-frame defensive 9 mm pistol offerings with the release of the G3 series. I had an opportunity to test both models that year with positive results.

Boston Globe writer Jeff Jacoby has a stellar piece in which he argues against the leftist notion that the Second Amendment was meant to hurt blacks. He writes, The real racism associated with the Second Amendment isnt in the rights of gun ownership that the Bill of Rights cemented into the Constitutions text. It is in the long and shameful record of those rights being denied.

#7 shot is primarily used for target shooting, clays and medium-sized birds like grouse, partridge, quail, and snipe. Old-timers will usually refer to #7 and #7.5 as dove shot, because it excels at hitting birds and small animals that are roughly the size of a large dove. As with any steel shot, you will sacrifice a bit of power and penetration compared to the lead equivalent, but you will gain the ability to hunt in all the places where lead is banned. Steel shot is also one of the lower-priced, non-toxic types of ammo. So if you love hunting, clay shooting and target shooting this ammo should meet all your needs. Today, #7 shot is most commonly found in 12 and 20 gauges, from manufacturers like RIO, Fiocchi and Winchester.

A would-be armed robber received a rude awakening from a prepared resident when he broke in to a San Antonio, Tex., home on the night of July 28, 2021. It happened around 11:00 p.m. that Wednesday night, when the 17-year-old robber broke into the home. The trespassing teen was armed with both a rifle and a handgun. At some point while inside the home, the robber came across one of the four residents who was inside, except they were not defenseless. |
