"In response to Jack Lilly's letter on the Second Amendment: First, If you hear shots going off in the middle of the night I hope you called the police. And second, I am sick and tired of the blanket blame being laid on every honest responsible law abiding citizen who happens to own fire arms. I am not responsible for that poor fellow who was shot on his tractor or the hunting accidents that happen or that maniac who went on a shooting rampage in Burlington."

"Hello everyone."
"Please feel free to pass this message to those who will care."
"I would like to pass on an update on David, as I see it has been more than four weeks since the last."
"He tells us he is doing fine, and we have been getting about one call a week, so it is good to hear from him. He is trying to help others when he is in the law library. I remind him not to let his guard down or become complacent, as Im sure they will be looking for an opportunity to go after him for anything else they can. He says he is losing weight with all the free time, exercise and the great food they have." ... |

"In the parking lot of my local Publix grocery store, I saw a pickup truck recently with a bumper sticker that read: 'Gun control means hitting your target.'"
"Ha ha. That's really funny."
"Actually, it kind of is funny. And, those of us who agree with the Supreme Court's recent decision ... would probably agree that this is exactly how gun control should be defined."
"However, it is not a particularly effective bumper sticker if our goal is to persuade gun control advocates to re-think their position." ...
"... those who are not already inclined to agree will take offense, shut down any alternative way of thinking, and be more fully convinced that people who are not for gun control are simply 'gun nuts.'" ... |

"A homeowner suddenly confronted by a knife-wielding intruder reaches desperately for a handgun with which to defend himself. But the firearm lies disassembled and unloaded in a drawer ... the assailant strikes, and strikes again with fatal results."
"The real cause of the homeowner's death in this scenario? That he had the misfortune to reside in the District of Columbia. For ... the District requires that all registered handguns possessed by its civilian residents remain unloaded and either disassembled or fitted with a trigger lock unless there is a 'reasonably perceived threat of immediate harm to the person.'" ... |

An apartment resident shoots another man to death after that man tried to enter his southwest Houston unit, according to Harris County Sheriff's deputies.
Investigators say Clarence Hill, 28, had an argument Tuesday night with John Cruz, 21, at the Sierra Pines Apartments on the 6400 block of Sierra Blanca Drive near Presidio Square Boulevard.
Cruz ran into his apartment and was followed by Hill, who forced his way into the unit, according to investigators.
After Hill entered the home, deputies say Cruz shot and killed him.
The Harris County grand jury will determine whether or not Cruz will face any charges in the death of Hill. |
