Recent high-profile mass shootings, and the promise that Congress would take up gun control issues when it returns to work in September promise a lively program at the 34th annual Gun Rights Policy Conference in Phoenix, Ariz., Sept. 20-22.
The event, sponsored by the Second Amendment Foundation and Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, typically attracts hundreds of gun rights activists from across the country. The full list of speakers is not finalized, but there will be appearances by SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb, nationally-syndicated radio hosts Tom Gresham (Gun Talk) and Mark Walters (Armed America Radio), SAF President Joseph Tartaro. |

Trump made the comments while speaking to reporters in the Oval Office on Tuesday.
He said, We have very, very strong background checks right now. But we have, sort of, missing areas and areas that dont complete the whole circle. And were looking at different things. |

Theres not much of an argument when you compare the versatility of a shotgun to any other firearm. As a home defense weapon, shotguns are reliable and effectively intimidating. From big game to small game (including upland hunting) you can find a shotgun capable of getting the job done. As a survival gun.. shotguns can cover all the bases in the most adverse conditions. |

In a city that no longer has any gun stores, one grassroots San Francisco neighborhood group says Asian-Americans in the city should consider arming themselves for protection. "It's the right thing for people who have been so scared and helpless," said Ellen Lee Zhou, a member of the San Francisco Coalition for Good Neighborhoods. She was recently noted as being an underdog candidate in the San Francisco mayoral race. She's also a gun owner. |

Though the AR-15 has supplanted the shotgun for many personal- protection applications, defensive shotguns are hardly obsolete. Those classified as Firearms by ATF are a major part of new-gun releases, including the SKO Mini from Standard Manufacturing of New Britain, CT. The Mini is Standards third rendition of its SKO shotgun. |

Gun control is not the answer to America's gun violence. In the recent mass shootings, the shooters purchased their weapons legally. Likewise, the policies promoted by gun control activists would not impact mass shootings. Last year, the RAND Corp. conducted a survey of academic research and did not find any of the policies they looked at would reduce mass shootings: We found no qualifying studies showing that any of the 13 policies we investigated decreased mass shootings. |

As president of the NRA and a long-time member of its Board of Directors, Ive seen firsthand why NRA has been so successful in achieving the remarkable track record that honest, hard-working Americans rely on and that our political enemies fear. This unprecedented victory streak has expanded the right to carry to almost every state, expanded public hunting on federal lands and helped win legislative and courtroom victories from coast to coast. How did we come so far? Whats been integral to the NRAs success?

Todays political and social climate is treacherous territory to navigate. It is so easy, through social media and the bubble that forms around particular groups, to throw out snide, incendiary, and downright mean comments, with little thought about how they might be perceived by people outside our bubbles, including people in law enforcement.

Taylor police arrested two people as they were attempting to flee Tuesday morning after breaking into Recoil Firearms on Ecorse near Pardee roads.
The thieves, believed to be in their late teens or early 20s, broke into the firearms store through the roof according to a store employee.
The front window of the store was cracked, although it's not known if that was an original attempt to break in or if it happened while the break-in suspects were in the store. They actually became trapped in the store.
They loaded up bags full with guns and then tried to get out. However, they tripped a silent alarm, trapping them inside. The police arrived pretty quickly to meet them right when they were about to get out of the building. |

Ive made no secret of the fact that I disagree with the wide-reaching gun control laws that were passed in Florida last year. In only the first few months after the Republicans shoved that down our throats, more than 450 Floridians had lost their guns as a result of the Red Flag law, which allows law enforcement agencies to steal guns from anyone without due process. In such a terrible system, problems are bound to crop up such as last week, when a law-abiding Floridian had his concealed handgun license revoked and firearms confiscated even though police knew they had the wrong man. |

Bears are fascinating critters. If asked, most folks unfamiliar with the big, furry animals would call them unpredictable and dangerous. Both statements could be true ... but not really.
Dogs are unpredictable if one isnt familiar with them, but to those who know them, there are few unexplainable dog actions. The difference between dogs and bears is that many of us live around dogs, but very few live with bears.
Fear is the most common notion associated with bears, especially grizzly or brown bears. Grizzlies exude power. They look unstoppable.

The importance of a horse in the 1700-1800s to army personnel was extremely high. It was their transportation, it was their luggage carrier, and if necessary, they could even eat it during a siege. Therefore, it was paramount to know that all the militia could show up with their horse in hand when called upon. So the Founding Fathers put a clause in the Constitution that read something such as this:
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and ride horses shall not be infringed |
