Spend a Saturday afternoon watching outdoor television and you are bound to see a few celebrity bro hunters killing big ol bulls and bucks at extended ranges with a rifle. As cool as it may seem to see a deer tip over at 700 yards, its not a shot most hunters should take. Its also irresponsible for the TV hunters to promote such a false narrative, because you should be able to stalk within 300 yards (or closer) of most game. I actually used to work for two outdoor TV networks, and can attest that the guys oozing machismo on those shows miss more long shots than they connect onthe whiffs just never make it to TV.

Many, many years ago I found Todd Green and pistol-training.com. Back then I took a whack at a drill called Press Six. Way back then (at least 9 years ago), it kicked my butt. It is a series of 2 circles, shot from whatever distance you can hit a 2 circle, with par times. Fast forward nearly decade, and well, I am better at it, but not much. Press Six is a tough drill to shoot clean, but it is very good at what it is intended to do, improve the draw. Todd Green used a specific draw technique called the press out. It was intended for use with DA/SA guns and allowed the trigger press to start earlier in the presentation than other draw strokes.

This isnt just a good news story, its a great news story, and Im thrilled that Rick Ector is telling it on todays Bearing Arms Cam & Co. Ive known Rick for a long time, and hes a tireless defender of the right to keep and bear arms as well as a great ambassador for our Second Amendment rights. For the past nine years hes put on a free gun safety training class for women in the Detroit area, typically over Mothers Day weekend, and each and every year the event has grown bigger than the last.
For a while, though, it looked like this years event was in trouble. Thanks to Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmers stay-at-home orders, it was going to be difficult to host a lot of people without running afoul of the coronavirus regulations. |

On Thursday, 16 July, 2020, the Wisconsin Sawyer County Board adopted a resolution supporting the United States Second Amendment and the Wisconsin Constitution's Section 25, which protects the right to keep and bear arms. The resolution stops short of the Sanctuary County movement, but it gives affirmative notice of the County's support for Constitutional rights. |

I've always been fascinated by German engineering, and the HK 45 Compact Tactical is a testament to that legendary precision. This being my first foray into the world of HK, I decided to go with .45 ACP on a tactical model to kick it up a notch. While this gun comes with a threaded barrel, I dont have a suppressor to put on it, so this review is suppressor-free. Without further ado, here are my thoughts on the HK 45 Compact Tactical.

The .32 S&W Long (7.65x23mm) is a straight-walled, centerfire, rimmed handgun round introduced by Smith & Wesson in 1896. The round, modeled after the .32 S&W cartridge, was made for the S&W Model 1896 Hand Ejector revolver, a precursor to the modern day Magnum handguns. An extended version of the .32 Smith & Wesson cartridge, the case is a straight-walled, rimmed centerfire similar to the .32 H&R Magnum and .327 Federal Magnum case diameter, but shorter in length. |

Ive never regretted money spent on a military surplus gun. However, the 1945 Canadian No. 4 Mk 1 Lee-Enfield in this story was one of the best deals of my life when I bought it for $125 in the late 1980s. It was made in June of 1945, probably less than two months before the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima to end both the war and the production contract it was made under. |

As Im wedged in the back of an NYPD Strategic Response vehicle, the officers rip through the clogged Manhattan streets on a frostbitten Sunday afternoon. The destination is not the usual crime-plagued pockets of the Bronx or Brooklyn, but the lower east side of the island borough dotted with designer stores and trendy cafes frequented by the fashion elite and the high-rolling banker set.

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
America does not go abroad in search of monsters to destroy. She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all. She well knows that by one enlisting under other banners than her own, were they even the banners of foreign independence, she would involve herself beyond the power of extrication in all the wars of interest and intrigue, of individual avarice, envy and ambition, which assume the colors and usurp the standards of freedom. JOHN QUINCY ADAMS (1821) |
