... "The more interesting meme emerging from this example of gun control advocacy: divide and conquer. In the same way that there are 'good Muslims' and 'extremists,' the left now wishes to establish the fact that there are 'good gun owners' and 'gun extremists.'"

"Says so right there above the letter, in bold, courtesy the letters to the editor editor: Gun extremists. This despite the fact that Mr. Knister doesnt use the phrase once in his mini-polemic. The Humanities prof and novelist calls the Open Carry corps. activists, zealots and vigilantes. All of which are less insidiously effective than 'extremists.'"

"But what, exactly, is a 'gun extremist?' The simple answer: any gun owner who doesn't support gun control." ...

... "For many folks, me included, the most beautiful words of the U.S. Bill of Rights have to be the first five from the First Amendment which say, 'Congress shall make no law . . . ' Of course, Congress makes laws anyway. Lots and lots of them. Entire forests have died so that Congress' laws may be printed."

"A common statistic thrown around in gunnie circles references the 20,000 or so gun laws on the books. If I tried to write about all the gun laws in the United States, Id need several lifetimes. Instead, I'll just give my list of three of the dumbest American gun laws."

"It runs about 10 minutes and is well worth the time. Here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch? v=YGL8CiUtXF0. Watching it gives us a clear picture of the perils of today's times as more and more radical groups seek to undermine what we stand for." ...

"Hi-Point makes value-priced firearms. Chicago makes anti-Second Amendment laws. Most recently, post-McDonald, the Windy Citys pols enacted a farrago of gun control legislation specifically designed to subvert the will of the people, as defined by both the U.S. Constitution and the U.S. Supreme Court. Mayor Daley's package of prevarication gave the police the power to create a list of 'acceptable' home defense handguns. And here's where the two entities intersect: the po-po's list of banned handguns includes Hi-Point's pistol products. [Click here for the City's criteria.] When the black list was released, I phoned Hi-Point for an official comment on their exclusion. And now, finally, here it is . . ." ...

But when facing down a Johnny boat full of pirates motoring through light chop toward our stern, the Captain improvised his own communication. He snatched the shotgun from my hands and held it over his head like a victorious minuteman. After the pirates got a good look, he grabbed the weapon by the forearm, again with one hand, and pumped a round into the chamber with a flick of his arm. "The murder scarred a part of Mexico that was supposed to be reasonably safe from violence and crime. ... But it seems that no corner of the country is shielded from the relentless rain of drug-related bloodshed."

"The killers came for Mayor Cavazos in the early hours of Aug. 16 when seven SUV's rolled up and men in police uniforms descended on his palatial home. Servants stood back terrified, as their boss was forced away at gunpoint. On Aug. 18, his corpse was dumped on a nearby road. ..."

"Given their lack of success at lobbying in the Statehouse and at the ballot box, it's easy to get the idea that the Ohio gun ban lobby has folded up shop. But as a behind-the-scenes look at some of their current activities will show, that kind of thinking can lead to a complacency that gun owners in the Buckeye State cannot afford." ...

"What would have happened in Iran, Germany, Russia, China, Turkey, Poland and other nations if their governments hadnt disarmed their citizens? Mahmoud Ahmadinejad would have been right: 'There wasnt a Holocaust.' There are rumbles; that is what our government is trying to do here, a little at a time, i.e., tobacco. ..."

"The government bureaucracy, as it has done with tobacco, will educate, legislate, regulate, placate and, if necessary, confiscate. Guns will be taxed, the citizens will be harassed until the guns all but disappear. Our forefathers foresaw such a tyrannical government as in the case of the countries I mentioned. Therefore, they put the Second Amendment in our Constitution. ..." ...
