Ingham County officials are asking a judge to decide how extensive their background checks must be before they issue concealed weapons permits.
~ These are the same people that tried to prohibit CCW on ALL County property a month or so ago. Now it seems that they're unable to complete background checks for CCW permits. But they're the same checks they were suppose to be doing on all the "good ol boys" they've been licensing for years. Hmmm

From WorldNetDaily: Chuck Baldwin decries America's willingness to accept a police state and loss of Constitution.
"If you love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home and leave us in peace. We seek not your council, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen." --Sam Adams
"Federal police abuse at Waco, Texas; Ruby Ridge, Idaho; and now at Klamath Basin, Oregon, reveal a lethargic population willing to overlook practically any injustice. To be sure, there was (and is) much resistance from local parties directly involved. To the vast population at large, however, there is nothing but complete indifference." --Chuck Baldwin |

"Under the program, gun possession is treated as a federal offense, with nonviolent gun offenders receiving a mandatory sentence of two years, and violent offenders receiving a mandatory five-year prison sentence."
-I don't see how ANYONE in their right mind can support such a blantantly unconstitutional and abuse-prone anti-rights program.

"When former U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno arrives in Waco next month, the police will be ready."
"Chief Jim Doak of the Baylor University Public Safety Department said security plans are in the works for her visit but he would not detail what those plans are."
"Reno will speak Sept. 13 at the Ferrell Center as part of Baylor University's President's Forum."
-This "lady" has some kinda nerve. |

"...few members of the press have bothered to question the "ulterior motives" of organizations like CAN, the SPLC and Militia Watchdog. Indeed, in light of the sustained media blackout which has greeted well-substantiated allegations of official malfeasance in regards to the Office of Special Counsels flawed (and possibly corrupt) WACO investigation, it would seem the watchdog offensive has not been unsuccessful"... --Cletus Nelson |

Authors of a handgun licensing bill(s) have removed a provision requiring prospective owners to fire the weapon during training, to gain support from police and Gov. Davis. Even with the amendments, the pending bills still would require buyers to demonstrate safe handling of the weapons without firing.
The bills are awaiting committee action next week before proceeding to final votes. Davis signaled he would veto any gun licensing measure unless law enforcement officials urge its signing. |

"A Morning Call editorial of Aug. 14 supports the ongoing State Police gun registration scheme ... The problem is that this so-called gun "sales data base" is illegal. Who says so? Every lawyer who has seen the law says so, and this indudes Atty. Gen. Mike Fisher and the FBI. The FBI said: "This practice shall cease immediately."
"So, what's going on here? Does it not trouble The Morning Call that the State Police are breaking the law?" --John Brinson, Lehigh Valley Firearms Coalition, PA |
