When South Carolina's SHALL-ISSUE concealed weapons law was passed in 1996, critics feared "gunslingers would be strolling the streets", but authorities say the program has worked effectively.
"The people who have gotten them have been very responsible. Now you have 30,000 people trained with guns who may not have been trained before. And the criminal still doesn't know who's carrying." -Rep. Jeff Young (R-Sumter) |

What should be done to hold government agents accountable when they break laws and harm citizens?
o We should give them a break because of the high levels of stress and responsibility they face in the job of protecting society against criminals.
o They should be punished exactly as any non-government employee would be.
o Because of their position of responsibility and power, they should be held to a higher standard and punished more severely than ordinary citizens. |

"Elizabeth Dole is nothing more than a Southern Schumer; despite her change of party affiliation as a wedding gift for her then-powerful husband, shes a false conservative whos statist through and through. Her quasi-selection to "represent" the federal prefect of North Carolina tells us much about both the Republican Party and the Bush Administration and their true positions on freedom for Americans." --Jeff Elkins |

"If I haven't received mine, I have to wonder how many others haven't received theirs," Mr. Eetoolook said in a statement. Without the licences, Northern gun-owners are unable to legally purchase ammunition and participate in the summer hunts that provide meat for their families for the winter. Operators of the four-hour program said that the response was so overwhelming, they ran out of money to pay near the end. Nevertheless, some people handed over about 25 guns without payment.
Police asked no questions about the guns. Still, some people offered RTV6 their reasons for participating. One guy said, "I just don't need (guns) around the house anymore. I've got young kids, and it's time to get rid of them." |

Fairfax County prosecutors dropped the trespassing charge because no one from the NRA showed up to testify at a hearing Wednesday. An NRA spokesman had said the group would not pursue charges.
"The fact that they weren't here proves they are not willing to face the victims of the policies they promote," Mauser said after the hearing that lasted less than a minute. |
