"For the Second Amendment community, there really is no contest in making a choice between Romney and Obama in the presidential election," gun rights expert John M. Snyder said here today. "The Romney-Ryan ticket is far superior to the Obama-Biden ticket on right to keep and bear arms issues as well as on other matters of great concern to millions of American voters," he explains in this video. |

To protect taxpayers, I will not support tax increases as senator to protect your freedoms, I will not vote for any new vanity laws that increase the size of government while reducing our rights i.e. bans on sodas, various foods, etc. I support the Second Amendment, and will not support any reductions of the rights of our gun owners I will support effective law enforcement that protects our communities, neighborhoods and families I will only seek four, two-year terms as Senator and not become a career politician. |

Deadly shootings are unavoidable in the United States, where unlike most developed countries, guns and even very powerful firearms, are by law so freely available, says an analyst.
The comment comes as the United States lenient gun laws are being questioned as multiple gun attacks have taken place recently in America, in the latest of which two people were killed and nine others injured in a shooting outside the Empire State Building in New York City on Friday. |

A study of guns seized by Chicago police shows that suburban gun shops are a main source of guns used in crimes in the city.
The research shows that some 29 percent of the guns recovered on Chicago's streets between 2008 and the end of March were bought in the Cook County suburbs. Lake County, Ind., was the second largest source, accounting for 6 percent of the weapons, and other counties surrounding Chicago including Lake County, Ill., and Will, DuPage and Kane counties were also among the top 10 sources. |

In a court somewhere in America:
Bailiff: Everyone please remain standing until the Honorable Judge Les Hearit takes his seat.
Judge: You may take your seats. The court of public opinion is now open.
A lawyer for the defense of judgmental Americans steps forward.
Defense lawyer for the public: Your honor, George Zimmerman killed Trayvon Martin and said it was self-defense. America can't just sit back and wait for a trial. This is big news. A lot of people think he's a racist and profiled Trayvon. Many others like a good scandal.
Judge: I understand what you're saying, counselor. |

In their zeal to exploit Fridays shooting near the Empire State Building in New York City, anti-gunners are deliberately overlooking some facts and adding their own agenda items instead.
Kudos to the Seattle Times for not picking up on the rhetoric in its selection of stories about the incident to publish. Then, again, one might wonder if the Times is just playing down the event because the mass shooting that had initially been reported now has been revealed to have been caused by police gunfire, not dead gunman Jeffrey T. Johnson. |

The push to disarm Americans has been around a long time. An estimated ninety million Americans own guns legally and in states that permit concealed carry the crime rate drops precipitously by comparison with others that do everything they can to make the purchase and carry of firearms difficult.
Gun ownership in America is the highest since 1993 with estimates of 300 million guns owned by citizens. Ownership crosses political party lines and other demographic cohorts. From its earliest days as a nation, the Founding Fathers were united in the need for an armed citizenry as a response to the potential tyranny of a government that might seek to impose its will on Americans through force. |

Based on these Supreme Court decisions, Dozier announced that the McLean County States Attorneys Office would no longer enforce sections of Illinois statutes, including the Firearm Owners Identification Card Act, Unlawful Use of Weapons and Aggravated Unlawful Use of Weapons, which contradict the Heller and McDonald decisions.
Although policy regarding prosecution may change, police officials have stated that they will continue to uphold current law enforcement policies. |

Another hollow debate on whether or not we should do anything about this vicious cycle of senseless violence. Isnt it time we stopped idly listening to politicians and pundits on both sides of the aisle disingenuously huffing and puffing about this issue and actually take action?
Accepting that we, as Americans, have a serious gun problem would be a great first step.
Ed.: We've already had the debate--you lost. |

Negotiations at a United Nations conference over a proposed Arms Trade Treaty, which would regulate conventional arms sales across borders, ended in July without a report. The talks will likely resume, however, and many are concerned about the treatys implications for the Second Amendment. The concern is justified, given the treatys goal is weapons control. Its terms are vague and could be used to launch efforts to attack the constitutional right to bear arms. |

Societal changes can be tracked in platforms. Education was never mentioned in early platforms as neither party saw a federal role in education. That started changing for Republicans in 1876 and Democrats in 1908, and today education planks are a big part of both platforms. Similarly, guns were never mentioned in any platform until the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy thrust gun control on the agenda in 1968. Gun control made the 1972 Democratic platform, prompting Republicans to add their backing of the Second Amendment to every platform after 1976. |

Months after pretending to empathize with a Harlem mother whose two sons were victims of fatal shootings, the National Rife Association's CEO Wayne LaPierre was a no-show at a rally against gun violence yesterday, continuing a pattern of completely ignoring any communication with her after the initial encounter. I feel its disrespectful of him to say he was going to work with Harlem mothers, and he never answered any of our calls," Jackie Rowe-Adams told the Daily News. "That is rude and unforgettable and unforgivable. |

At the same time, there are growing worries among so-called sovereign citizen radicals and other extremist groups on the left as well as the right that the Republic is teetering on a precipice. One reason for recent gun-buying sprees and the spread of concealed carry licenses is in preparation for defense against unspecified government tyranny, Second Amendment experts say. |

Instead, lets put technology on the case. Lets stop calling it gun control, and start calling it criminal control. Nobody will defend making it easier for dangerous criminals to own guns. Lets extend waiting periods dramatically. Take the passion out of gun purchases. Leave time for a proper background check, using all the tools of the Internet to get a clear picture of the person purchasing the weapon.
Lets accelerate the development of biometric gun locks. Only a registered owner can use a gun. Lets develop new ways to keep guns locked, secured, and only usable by trustworthy owners. Targeting systems that recognize a clear threat. Chemical tests to make sure users arent drunk or high or otherwise chemically imbalanced. |

The National Rifle Association insists politicians should not overreact, meaning Democrats, since Republicans are already its puppets.
Governments most important function is to provide security for its citizens, and America sets the worst possible example, thanks to a morally blind NRA and GOP. A nation that allows an armed cabal to make public safety policy would have to be labeled a failed state. |

Violent crime rates have been falling in recent years, but the number of people killed by firearms in the United States remains high. According to the FBI Uniform Crime Report, between 2006 and 2010 47,856 people were murdered in the U.S. by firearms, more than twice as many as were killed by all other means combined.

Since the concealed carry law has been in effect and we see how well it is working, what was all that fear about? All those guns on the street have not led to any bad incidents in the nine months it became law. One man with a concealed carry permit even prevented a crime at an Aldis Grocery Store in the Milwaukee area. The man with the concealed carry used his gun to protect a clerk being held up by another with a gun. |

Unmanned police drones, comparable to those used in war zones such as Afghanistan, could soon be secretly watching over the streets of UK cities, according to a National Police Air Service director. The unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are being considered to monitor crowded events in Britain, such as concerts and festivals, as soon as the aerial units become cost-effective. ... Some police precincts have tried using the remote-controlled system to curb crime. Now the idea is to implement the drone policy nationwide. |

Crime-ridden Camden, New Jersey - often referred to as the most dangerous city in the United Statesis getting rid of its police department. In the latest example of a cash-strapped municipality taking drastic measures to deal with swollen public sector liabilities and shrinking budgets, the city plans to disband its 460-member police department and replace it with a non-union Metro Division of the Camden County Police. Backers of the plan say it will save millions of dollars for taxpayers while ensuring public safety, but police unions say it is simply a way to get out of collective bargaining with the men and women in blue.
Submitter's comment: And in NJ, concealed carry permits are impossible for the hoi polloi to obtain. |
