The Second Amendment Foundation, an organization responsible for many, if not the most, gun rights litigation ongoing in the U.S. today, is celebrating its 50th anniversary today, Aug. 26, at its headquarters in Bellevue, Wash.
In a brief announcement, the foundation notes, SAF has scored numerous successes in the past half century, including the all-too-important McDonald v. City of Chicago decision handed down by the Supreme Court in 2010. SAFs win in McDonald has been critical to the fight against modern gun control, as it paved the way for legal action against states and municipalities for violations of the Second Amendment. |

In the world of magnum hunting cartridges, none are more ubiquitous than the 7mm Remington Magnum and 300 Winchester Magnum.
These two belted magnum cartridges have been at odds with each other since their release in the 1960s as they both offer extremely impressive downrange performance that surpassed the most popular hunting rounds of the day, like the 30-06 Springfield. |

A federal judge in Kansas has dismissed charges against Tamori Morgan, a local man accused of possessing a machine gun via a Glock switch, citing a lack of constitutional support for the federal ban on such firearms. This ruling by U.S. District Judge John Broomes marks a significant moment in the ongoing debate over gun control laws in the United States, following a precedent set by the Supreme Court in 2022 that expanded gun rights.

The 4th Circuit Court of appeals has reversed an earlier decision by a three-judge panel of the same court, upholding Marylands Handgun Qualification License (HQL) requirement.
In the case Maryland Shall Issue v. Moore, a three-judge panel last November had ruled that the law was unconstitutional. But the court had vacated the agreement until the case could be heard by the full court, which upheld the law despite the earlier decision.

Its one of the biggest cases to be submitted to the Supreme Court for certiorari (review) in recent memory, for the third time, and if the high court takes it, the ruling is likely to have a shattering effect on the gun control crusade, and even the Wall Street Journal is acknowledging that much in a Monday morning article.

Tennessee's top Republican leaders on Monday threatened to withhold tens of millions of dollars in state funding from left-leaning Memphis should leaders continue with plans to place three local gun control initiatives on the November ballot.
Earlier this year, Memphis' city council approved asking voters in November if they wanted to tweak the city charter to require permits to carry a handgun, ban the possession of AR-15 style rifles and implement a so-called red flag ordinance, which allows law enforcement officials to remove firearms from those found to be an imminent danger to themselves or others.

In the land of the rimfire rifle cartridge, the 22 long rifle with its 40-grain bullet remains the most popular round for plinking and light pest control.
However, sometimes a .22LR simply isnt powerful enough to take on larger varmints, like coyotes, and lacks the muzzle velocity to take down prairie dogs at longer ranges. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear. ~ Marcus Tullius Cicero (42B.C) |
