On Saturday, Aug. 22, Jeff Stroud taught a class for law-abiding Yoopers looking to receive their concealed pistol licenses (CPL). Stroud teaches his classes on not only the legalities of CPLs, but how to be a responsible, and, in his words, exemplary carrier.
Stroud is a fully-licensed instructor and expert marksman, certified as a chief range safety officer and a National Rifle Association (NRA)-certified instructor. Outside of his 906 Tactical courses, Stroud is also the Michigan Tech range master, overseeing all clubs and activities at the Tech Range, and the beginning rifle instructor.
The CPL course offered by 906 Tactical, which owned and operated by Stroud, is an eight-hour, highly intensive course. |

...there appears to be no evidence at all that Rittenhouse is guilty of murder, much less first-degree murder. I spent a substantial portion of Wednesday viewing numerous upsetting videos of Rittenhouse's deadly encounters with Kenosha rioters, and in every single one of those videos, Rittenhouse is clearly trying to extricate himself from danger brought on by a mob that appeared hell bent on doing him harm.
The New York Times, which is hardly sympathetic to what Rittenhouse was unwisely attempting to do, put an extraordinary amount of work into tracking Rittenhouse's movements on that Tuesday night, and the resulting breakdown is damning to the prosecutors and media figures who have branded this teenager as a racist murderer. |

We often forget about the Seventh Amendment because we use it so rarely. The fact remains that each one of us, in the jury room, has the right to decide what the outcome of the trial is to be, no matter what the judge, the prosecution, or the written law says. Every juror who goes into the jury room has the Constitutional right and power to nullify a law in question. The juror can decide if the law has been applied properly, and even if the law is just. Each and every juror can help change the path of an individual life, and the path that society follows. |

While Mr. Rittenhouse is being pursued by the group, an unknown gunman fires into the air, though its unclear why. The weapons muzzle flash appears in footage filmed at the scene.
Mr. Rittenhouse turns toward the sound of gunfire as another pursuer lunges toward him from the same direction. Mr. Rittenhouse then fires four times, and appears to shoot the man in the head.
Im less sure than the Times is. Something moves at the frames left edge but I cant tell if its a muzzle flash or just someone passing in front of the police lights. |

Cellphone footage shows the shooter being chased into a used car lot by someone before shots are heard and the person lies dead. The shooter then runs down the street where he is chased by several people shouting that he just shot someone. He stumbles after being approached by several more people and fires, killing another man and injuring a third.
From my standpoint, its important that the message be clear to other Americans who are attacked that there will be legal resources available in the event false charges are brought against them, Wood said. Americans should never be deterred from exercising their right of self-defense. |

The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled on Aug. 14 to overturn the California ban on high-capacity magazines, stating it was unconstitutional. This is a huge win for the gun activists of California and a big loss to those who support more gun control. I tend to lean towards those of the gun activists. I agree that the high-capacity ban was unconstitutional and should have never been put in place to begin with.

The 2020 elections are coming up, and control of the House, Senate, and White House are all up for grabs. One of the best chances Second Amendment supporters have of improving the situation in the Senate is in Alabama, where Democrat Doug Jones is facing former Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville.
During his time in the Senate since beating Roy Moore in a December 2017 special election, Jones has co-sponsored 11 bills. While none are egregious attacks on our Second Amendment rights, Jones did sign on to a version of the For The People Act, which for all intents and purposes is intended to silence grassroots opposition to left-wing politicians and causes, like gun control. |

Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) reacted to online footage showing the moment a gunman appears to shoot at people at a protest in Kenosha, Wis., by characterizing the mans actions as justified self defense.
100% justified self defense. Do not try to take a weapon away from a man or bear the consequences, he tweeted on Wednesday. The criminals here: Kenosha local government that allows the riots, burning and looting night after night. Armed citizens defending themselves will fill the vacuum. |

Americans have been on a record gun-buying spree in recent months.
Amid the COVID-19 pandemic and protests for racial justice, the gun industry's trade association, the National Shooting Sports Foundation, estimates that gun sales from March through July were 8.5 million. This is 94% higher the same period in 2019.
Firearms industry consultants estimate July sales alone were 2.0 million units, an increase of 136% over July 2019. |

A legal team says it will defend Kyle Rittenhouse, charged in the fatal shooting during protests in Kenosha this week, and has set up a fund for the 17-year-old's legal fees.
Rittenhouse of Antioch, Illinois, has been charged with multiple counts, including first-degree intentional homicide, in the shooting that killed two people and injured a third.
Videos from protests in Kenosha Tuesday night show Rittenhouse armed with an AR-15 and describing himself as part of a militia protecting businesses.
A legal team from the #FightBack Foundation said it will be part of Rittenhouse's defense team. #FightBack Foundation Inc. was incorporated in Texas effective Aug. 12, according to the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts. |

The destruction of property is not just an attack on anothers possessions. It is a violation of justice. This is why rioting and looting affect far more than those whose stores are burned. Citizens begin to worry that they dont live in a society committed to justice. As we know from blacks who resent mistreatment by the police, which is also unjust, this worry can become explosive, even among those not personally affected.
If civil authorities dont restore order reasonably soon, it is nearly inevitable that citizens will organize to defend themselves. Gun sales have skyrocketed in the last three months, a sure sign that many citizens no longer believe that the police will protect them. |

Kyle Rittenhouse, the 17-year-old who went to Kenosha with a semi-automatic rifle to help protect the city and its residents and businesses from Antifa and Black Lives Matter terrorists, faces murder and other charges in the shooting death of two rioting thugs and the wounding of a third.
But video montages circulating on social media and even posted at the New York Times suggest the young man was defending himself. |

Its hard to view all of the video evidence thats turned up about what happened in Kenosha Tuesday night and conclude that Kyle Rittenhouse intentionally set out to murder anyone. Especially when he did everything he could to try to find and inform police of what happened (they ignored him).
Yet Rittenhouse has now been formally charged with first degree murder, first degree reckless homicide and attempted first degree murder. Apparently being threatened with a molotov cocktail, a handgun and struck with a skateboard isnt enough to justify armed self-defense in the Wisconsin prosecutors view. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
To prohibit a citizen from wearing or carrying a war arm . . . is an unwarranted restriction upon the constitutional right to keep and bear arms. If cowardly and dishonorable men sometimes shoot unarmed men with army pistols or guns, the evil must be prevented by the penitentiary and gallows, and not by a general deprivation of constitutional privilege. [Wilson v. State, 33 Ark. 557, at 560, 34 Am. Rep. 52, at 54 (1878)] |
