A St. Louis County jury declined to indict a St. Louis man accused of killing another in July at West County Center in Des Peres.

The grand jurys no true bill Wednesday means the dismissal of charges of second-murder and armed criminal action against Jason Hill, 21. He was accused of fatally shooting Malachi Maclin, 20, on July 3 inside a Champs store. Hill has been free on bail for several weeks.

Thats truly a blessing, said Hills lawyer Donnell Smith.

He believes the grand jury agreed with his assertion shortly after the shooting that Hill was defending himself and that the case never should have been charged.

Once upon a time, before the ascent of the National Rifle Association, when politics was not a full-time job and men sought election to public office so they could govern, a time before 24/7 news coverage not to mention social media changed the definition of newsworthy while altering the whole nature of civic and civil discourse, the state of Arkansas found itself at the center of a legal dispute over the right to bear arms. And though its hard for us to imagine today, 179 years ago, the state of Arkansas threw its efforts behind keeping guns off the streets.

The classic case for confiscation of weapons in Western Civilization in the last hundred years, is the government will defend you. You do not need weapons to defend yourself. The Taliban is reported to have emulated this Western propaganda in Kabul, after taking over in August of 2021.

U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Rochelle Walensky is restarting the agency's discontinued gun violence research program, expanding the bureaucracy's mission beyond controlling and preventing infectious disease to include studying what President Joe Biden has called a "gun violence public health epidemic."

In an interview with CNN published Friday, Walensky called gun violence a "serious public health threat" and said "something has to be done about this."

Miami-Dade prosecutors have dropped the murder case against a 19-year-old Hialeah man who shot and killed a motorist after the man was staring at him at a gas station in August, a shooting captured on surveillance video.

The State Attorneys Office on Friday declined to pursue a charge of second-degree murder against Eduardo Macias, saying it could not disprove that he was acting in self-defense when he shot Orestes Betancourt Carmona. The reason: a gun was found in the wheel well of Betancourts car, suggesting hed been armed when he got out of his car to confront Macias, according to a final memo on the case.

Travis Draper, 41, was killed along Highway 295 after he pulled his firearm on another driver, the latter shooting and killing him in self-defense according to the sheriffs office.

The altercation began at a red light along Highway 295 while the two were on their respective ways to work, according to Sheriff Chuck Wright.

It stemmed from an argument about the victims vehicle being too close to Drapers. It continued along the highway, both men seen increasing their speed and driving aggressively. Draper almost hit an uninvolved vehicle while chasing the victim through an intersection.

A Cole County, Missouri, judge Friday turned back a legal challenge by the City of St. Louis, and St. Louis and Jackson Counties to prevent the states recently passed Second Amendment Preservation Act from taking effect.

READ THE RULING

Passed by Missouri legislators and signed into law by Gov. Mike Parson, the law seeks to preemptively block any federal gun legislation efforts in the state.

Among the measures in the law is the prohibition of local law enforcement agencies from enforcing federal gun laws, with violators facing fines of up to $50,000.

A new Missouri law that declared many federal gun regulations invalid can move forward, a state judge ruled Friday despite warnings from the U.S. Department of Justice that the law hinders police work.

Cole County Circuit Court Judge Daniel Green denied a request from Jackson County, St. Louis County and St. Louis City to block the Second Amendment Preservation Act. In a two-page judgment, he cited other ongoing lawsuits in declining to stop the measure.

The constitutional issues raised in this matter should be litigated (if at all) by each plaintiff in each separate case, Green wrote.

Joe Biden Arms the Taliban While Banning Ammunition for Americans

The Biden Administrations failure to competently draw down American forces in Afghanistan has allowed the Taliban to acquire nearly 600,000 American weapons. But instead of triaging the catastrophe, and bringing Americans military and civilian home, the Biden State Department is trying to score political points.

Biden is once again trying to disarm the American people.

Biden unilaterally, and without a vote in Congress, decided to ban the import of all Russian made ammunition into the United States.

In the midst of an international embarrassment and humanitarian crisis of Bidens own making, the Administration announced it would proceed with so-called increased sanctions on the Russian Federation.

The gun-control lobby is growing impatient.

With major gun-control legislation yet to materialize and Bidens nominee to head the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) stalled in the Senate, gun-control activists are calling on the Democrats to create a White House office.

In a letter addressed to Biden this week, four gun-control advocacy organizations lamented that Bidens policies on firearms fall significantly short of the promises you yourself made while running for the presidency.

People, not guns, are the problem

The Second Amendment provides that citizens can freely possess firearms. The rationale is for citizens to be able to protect themselves from a government that grows too large. The Second Amendment has been under assault for many years. As the government has grown larger and larger, the pressure in Congress to abolish the personal ownership of arms has been increasing year after year.

The primary argument being pushed to abolish the Second Amendment is focused on civilian gun violence in our streets. Is it a problem? Absolutely. Is removing firearms from the hands of citizens the answer? In my opinion, this is the absolute wrong approach to gun violence in the street.

As a mom of a 17-year-old, of course Im concerned about her safety," said Linda Magid, a volunteer with Moms Demand Action in San Antonio. "Im concerned about my safety and Im concerned about the safety of our community."

Moms Demand Action volunteers plan on educating local business owners this weekend about legal ways to prevent people with guns from entering, whether or not they have a license to carry.

It involves signage citing Texas penal code 30.05.

Were asking businesses to allow that 11-by-17 space and put a sign up to keep people (who) maybe arent allowed to have that firearm, legally not allowed to have that firearm or just have no training at all to carry a weapon into a store or restaurant, Magid said.

The Republican AGs letter opposes the Proposed Rule, arguing that it would infringe upon the Second Amendment and impermissibly expand the ATFs regulation of firearm parts, including by requiring that each part bear a serial number; that the AFT may not expand its own authority beyond the original congressional intent through broadening statutory definitions; and that the ATF failed to fully consider the costs associated with the Proposed Rule, among other things.

Banning Russian ammo another blow to the Constitution

The Biden Administration has a lot on its plate right now yet they have still found a way to continue their agenda against Second Amendment rights. Under recent State Department sanctions, there will be no more Russian ammo or firearms being imported into the United States beginning on Sept. 7. The rule will remain in place for a minimum of 12 months.

Millions of law-abiding citizens have used Russian ammunition for years because it is low-cost and dependable. It allows citizens to practice their marksmanship skills economically. This is just another slow chipping away at our constitutional rights.

The company best known for its build kits that hobbyists use to construct firearms has been under fire from anti-gun groups who do not like that Americans have the right to build guns. Groups like Giffords and Everytown for Gun Safety pressured the Biden administration to crack down on what they call Ghost Guns.
