Interview with Larry Elder about "Michael & Me."
------- "... 'Bowling for Columbine' in my opinion did not give the accurate overall picture of guns in America. It never asked the basic question how often Americans use the guns to defend themselves and what is the purpose behind the Second Amendment? And in my view is to prevent tyranny by government and in my film, I discuss about that." |

"Where are the Liberal gun control freaks thanking Bush for disarming Saddams war machine and for making absolutely sure that no weapons of mass destruction can be exported from Iraq for terrorists to use on American soil?"
"And just where were all of these bleeding-heart Liberals during the eight long years when Clinton was carrying out his unconstitutional military misadventures all over the world? If they hated war so much, why didnt they protest against Clinton?" |

"I consider myself to be very conservative, but there are issues upon which I can agree with people on the other side of the political spectrum." ...
"I find another area of agreement in gun control. I believe the law should be stricter in regard to the possession particularly of assault-style weapons. Having stricter regulations should make it easier for police to reduce crime."
------- KABA Note: That assertion has been proven to be a fallacy time after time. Stricter regulations do not reduce crime, and there is no evidence to support this contention. |

"In 1963 the Browning Arms Company made history. The firm began chambering its Browning High Power rifle for the .22-250--a wildcat cartridge for which there was no commercial ammunition available. John T. Amber, reporting the development in the 1964 Gun Digest, called the event 'unprecedented.'" ...
"That was 40 years ago, and ever since, as far as I can determine, there has been a Browning rifle of some type offered in .22-250."
"Two years after Browning broke the ice, Remington took the next big step. The company adopted the .22-250, added 'Remington' to the name and offered it in its Model 700 along with a line of commercial ammunition." |

"After nearly 300 years shooting flintlock rifles, rifle flints are still sparking debate among shooters. Some age old questions persist such as, should the bevel be placed up or down; what type of flint is best, black English, French, agate, modern space-age flints; cut flints, or knapped flints?" "If we tackle the first question, should the bevel be placed up or down, the only correct answer is yes. In other words, it doesnt make a hill of beans worth of difference how the bevel is placed as long as the flint throws a spark. Some flints may spark well with the bevel up, others with the bevel down." |

"To many folks, the idea of shooting a black-powder gun isat firsta bit frightening. After all, the primitive explosive used (producing, upon detonation, clouds of smoke the likes of which you'll never see when firing a contemporary cartridge) must actually be handled by the shooter, since it's measured, and then poured directly down she barrel of the gun . . . a barrel which, if ,he weapon is one of the popular larger-bore muzzleloaders, looks almost big enough to accommodate a bantam's egg! It's understandable, then, that this collection of factors sometimes brings to mind images of accidental overcharges . . . of barrels peeled back banana-skin fashion . . . and of shoulder breaking kicks." |

"The case, Washington v. Gurske, involved a man stopped for an illegal left turn while driving. Police discovered his driver's license had been suspended, arrested him and searched his truck. Behind the driver's seat was a backpack that contained three grams of methamphetamine. He was convicted of felony possession of an illegal drug and sentenced to an extra 18 months because his backpack also contained a pistol and ammunition clip. To fire the gun, he would have had to stop the truck, get out of the driver's seat, flip it forward, unzip the pack, find the gun and clip, and insert the clip. The court ruled unanimously that he was not armed." |

"Wearing a loose-fitting black shirt and with a 12-gauge shotgun at his side, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Timothy M. Kaine emerged from a rolling field with several fellow skeet shooters and a message for Virginia's rural voters."
"'I'm committed to not violating the Second Amendment or infringing upon the gun rights of law-abiding citizens,' Kaine, the lieutenant governor, said to a handful of supporters and local reporters who were on hand to watch him shoot. 'I'm committed to protecting that constitutional right to hunt and fish. . . . I value the traditions that Virginians value.'"
------- And yet, Kaine supports a ban on what he deems "assault" weapons and background checks at gun shows. Apparently limiting how Virginians exercise their right to keep and bear arms and forcing them to get government permission before they do so does not register on Mr. Kaine's radar as "infringement." |

Tim Kaine shouldered a 12-gauge shotgun Friday and put more pop in Virginia's gubernatorial shootout."
"As a media horde looked on at the scheduled 'Sportsmen for Kaine' event in Franklin County, the Democrat took aim at some skeet, hitting 14 of the two dozen targets he fired at. Kaine wouldn't say if he thinks he's a better shot than his National Rife Association-backed Republican opponent Jerry Kilgore, but he handled the gun with ease. 'I'm an outdoorsman,' Kaine said. 'I enjoy shooting skeet.'"
"The Kilgore campaign has tried to shoot Kaine's gun record full of holes, and the Democrat's Friday outing was quickly dismissed as nothing more than a ruse by Kilgore spokesman Tucker Martin."
------- We hate to tell you this, Mr. Kaine, but the Second Amendment is not about shooting skeet. |

"Gumm was recognized because of his 'staunch and steadfast' defense of the Second Amendment. During his first term, Gumm wrote and passed into law a number of bills to protect the Second Amendment right to 'keep and bear arms.' Among those is the 'Gun Manufacturers Recruitment Act.' "Under a change in regulations made this summer, Mississippi deer hunters for the first time can choose to use certain rifles that don't require muzzle-loading or black powder during the primitive-weapon seasons."
"Those rifles, which must be .38 caliber or larger with an exposed hammer and of a single-shot design that predates the 20th century, will be allowed to fire regular rifle cartridges."
"That makes them far more convenient, if not as accurate, than muzzle-loading firearms that use black powder."
"Black powder is extremely corrosive and barrel cleaning is required after each day of shooting to prevent rusting or pitting." |

"The shootings are part of a brutal trend. An investigation by The Observer has found that black women are almost 50 times more likely than white women to be victims of gun crime. Although women make up less than 2 per cent of gunshot cases, 95 per cent of female victims are black. This includes women deliberately targeted by gunmen as well as bystanders."
"Experts say they are victims of a black gang culture that no longer sees women or children as beyond limits. Mafia-style tactics which call for every witness to a crime to be executed have been adopted with relish." |

was just wondering: How does a patient in the state's mental health system walk into a gun store in Glendale and purchase a semiautomatic pistol? And then five days later slaughter two innocent men in a Wal-Mart parking lot?
Oh, that's right, guns don't kill people, people kill people.
Thanks to the NRA for making sure that access to weapons of individual destruction is so easy.
