"I hope Ryan Horsley's lawyers make a point of letting the judge know that comments posted on blogs by anonymous sources are sometimes trolling, sometimes spam, and sometimes like 'letters to the editor'--just because one appears does not imply agreement or sanction by the blogger ... I would hope those citing a lone anonymous statement ... are forced to concede under oath that they have no knowledge of who left the comment they are using against Ryan and where their sympathies truly lie. Either that, or they do know, and it was one of theirs. I'd ask them flat out if they could prove that poster was not an agent provocateur." ... |

"I read with some interest Raymond Blanchard's July 22 letter, "No longer a need for people to bear arms." The argument that the Second Amendment is 216 years old and is obsolete because we have states, towns, etc., empowered with law enforcement who can use firearms to protect us is simply naive and ill-conceived. The Second Amendment is no more made obsolete by modern society than is the First Amendment, which is also 216 years old. Now that we have radio, TV, Internet and massive network conglomerates supplying us with professionally crafted free speech, would anyone suggest the First Amendment is obsolete?" ... |

He was part of the construction crew that helped build the Sun Valley Lodge, after the completion he bought up all the tools of his fellow coworkers and moved his family to Twin Falls and opened a pawn shop. The building was built in 1912 and was previously a furniture shop called Moon's Paint and Furniture. Lowell passed away in the 1950's leaving son Wayne 'Red' Kinney and son-in-law Dale Spears to run the store. At one time Red's claim was that we had 'the most guns in Idaho'." ... |

A new San Francisco law now requires all guns in homes to have a trigger lock or to be stored in a locked container.
Mayor Gavin Newsom signed the measure into law today. It also prohibits the sale or possession of firearms on city property and requires the city's six licensed gun dealers to submit their inventory to the police chief every six months.
The inventory provision is expected to allow authorities to keep track of guns sold in the city.
The city has 50,000 legally registered guns.
In 2006, a court struck-down a voter-approved ban on handgun possession by city residents.
The National Rifle Association successfully argued the city did not have the authority to pass the ordinance under state law. |

A COUNCIL tenant attacked two bailiffs with a sledgehammer when they called to collect rent arrears, a court heard.
Waldron Rowe, 56, beat James Meakin and his colleague Jason Chubb, jurors at the Old Bailey heard. The bailiffs, employed by Alexander's Commercial Services arrived at Rowe's home in Ravensbury Grove, Mitcham, on September 12, 2006 to pick up rent on behalf of Merton council.
The pair only escaped the frenzied attack, which left them both battered and bruised, by putting Rowe into a headlock and forcing their way out of the front door, prosecutors told the court.
Rowe, who claims he acted in self-defence, denies two charges of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent.
The trial continues. |
