"In 1976, my family had moved across the state. Id left all of my friends behind. In December of that year I had the chance to go back for the Christmas holidays and spend a week at my best buddys house. Well call him T. Wed planned and plotted what wed do when we got together. We knew it was going to be a week to remember. I had no idea how right we were . . ."
"Ts dad had taught us to clean his handguns. We were both well versed in the sequence: clear, disassemble, reassemble, test, load and put away. We needed money for the movies. So we jumped at his fathers offer to pay us to clean his firearms. T was going to clean the Luger. I was working on a Webley revolver." ... |

"A couple of weeks ago, in the aftermath of a couple of prominent mass shootings, David Larson of Albert Lea, MN asked 'Dont gun owners want protection?' Well of course we do David! This 'we' in particular would like protection from blood-dancing opportunists who attempt to use tragedies like the Tucson, Aurora or VA Tech shootings to push an anti-gun, anti-gun-owner agenda. But I dont think thats exactly what David meant . . ." ... |

"Back in the day, Johnny Cash had a hit song, 'One Piece at a Time' in which he told the story of working on a car assembly line, and taking home the pieces to build his own Caddilac, one piece at a time. It took so many years to bring home all the parts, he had a car that stretched over 20 model years, and looked nothing like what he thought it would. ..."
"The position of guns in our society reminds me of that song. We all have a picture in our minds of what gun rights and the gun culture should look like. But we cant get what we have a picture of in our mind all at once; in the song, the guy couldnt afford it, in our case, it just does not exist ..."

"The United Nations is currently hosting its second conference in as many months aimed at regulating illicit arms trafficking. Julys conference strived, albeit unsuccessfully, to reach consensus on a binding international treaty that would regulate the global arms trade as a whole. The conference currently underway aims only to review the progress made by UN member nations individually and the international community as a whole in terms of the implementation of an action plan adopted by consensus in 2001 in order to combat the illegal trade of small arms and light weapons." ... |

"The Recon 1 is one of Cold Steels newest tactical folders. First of all, this is a big folding knife and thats not necessarily a bad thing. Blade length is four inches, but it is still relatively light considering the four inch blade since it doesnt use steel liners in the handle. You can use it for an EDC knife (I do), but honestly, this is a knife best suited for the outdoors. The best feature of the knife is the handle. Its made out of G-10, but the shape fits my hand perfectly, and the texture is outstanding. More on that later." ... |

"The National Shooting Sports Federation (NSSF) is the firearms industry lobby group. The NSSF does some stellar work, both in terms of legislative campaigning and dealer education. The NSSFs 'Dont Lie for the Other Guy' campaign has done more to eliminate 'straw purchasing' than the $2b-per-year ATF (which instigated the practice through Operation Fast and Furious). The video above is designed to help gun dealers sell professionally and effectively. Of course, Pravda on the Potomac aka the Washington Post has to headline their story, "In wake of mass shootings, Republican Party platforms calls for expanded rights for gun owners". The new head of the Brady Campaign, Dan Gross, tells the Post that "by making these changes, Republican leaders have 'put themselves farther out of touch with their constituents.'" "Many news organizations went back and compared this platform with the party's earlier positions, particularly those of 1980 on which Ronald Reagan ran."
"The Reagan platform carried a general endorsement of the Second Amendment's right to keep and bear arms. But the 2012 version opposes any restrictions on 'the capacity of (ammunition) clips or magazines.' It also expands the circumstances under which Americans can kill each other by broadening the so-called 'stand your ground" doctrine to a "fundamental right to self-defense wherever a law-abiding citizen has a legal right to be.'" ... |
