Yet in this age of frequent gun violence and rising domestic extremism, the fact that a private citizen like Cheney can accrue so much military power strikes some as worrisome and raises questions about how such weapons can legally land in civilian hands. Shortly after the Las Vegas and Parkland shootings, a progressive artist collective called Indecline, defaced a Battlefield Vegas billboard that originally read Shoot a .50 caliber only $29 to Shoot a School Kid only $29.

Last Friday, a Chicago woman used her handgun in self-defense and hit a 13-year-old boy who was one of the car burglars.

Around 8 PM, a group of at least four or five men were attempting to break into a car parked on the street in Chicago, IL. The cars owner, a 34-year-old woman with a valid Illinois concealed carry permit, confronted the group.

One member of the group pointed a gun at her. She then drew her own concealed carry gun and fired at the suspects, hitting one of them in the neck. The wounded suspect wound up being a 13-year-old boy. He was transported to the hospital and was listed in good condition. The rest of the group fled from the scene, and no weapon was recovered.

Gunowners say they are turning their backs on Hills Grocery stores after the announcement that firearms are no longer welcome in any of the companys stores.

The Whiteville-based retailer began posting signs prohibiting open or concealed carry this week, leading to an uproar among customers.

State law allows private businesses to prohibit open or concealed carry, if a notice is posted on the main entries into the business. N.C. General Statute 14-415.11 states that On any private premises where notice that carrying a concealed handgun is prohibited by the posting of a conspicuous notice or statement by the person in legal possession or control of the premises.

Their entire argument that the Second Amendment gives Americans the right to form private militias and then turn their guns against the government is a complete and utter scam.

America is now occupied by this armed movement that regularly terrorizes racial minorities, school boards, witnesses against Donald Trump, politicians, poll workers, and LGBTQ people.

Armed patriot and militia groups in America claim that the Second Amendment gives them the right to both carry weapons and form themselves into groups for the purpose of repelling or stopping tyranny or a tyrannical government.

The decision handed down in June already has led one judge to temporarily block a Colorado town from enforcing a ban on the sale and possession of certain semi-automatic weapons.

The first major gun decision in more than a decade, the ruling could dramatically reshape gun laws in the U.S. even as a series of horrific mass shootings pushes the issue back into the headlines.

"The gun rights movement has been given a weapon of mass destruction, and it will annihilate approximately 75% of the gun laws eventually," said Evan Nappen, a New Jersey gun rights attorney.

In June, Boulder, Lafayette, Louisville, and Superior unanimously passed similar ordinances in response to mass shootings in New York and Texas. But, those ordinances havent come without opposition. Last month, a federal judge granted the Rocky Mountain Gun Owners Association a temporary restraining order against ordinances passed in Superior.

Kevin Lorusso said he represented the gun group at the meeting. He warned that Rocky Mountain Gunowners has no problems taking legal action against Boulder County.

If you pass these ordinances, Rocky Mountain Gunowners will add you to the list of places we are suing over this. It has already been established that we will win, Lorusso said, referring to the restraining order.

The resolution asks the county attorneys office to look into how the countys authority as a public health agency could create a legal argument in its ability to enforce regulations necessary for the public health and safety of the inhabitants, per another state statute, the resolution says.

Pima County Attorney Laura Conovers office has a little over three months to come back to the board with legal options by Nov. 15.

With the state law standing in the way of county gun reform measures, Scott decided it was best to take on the hurdle itself instead of finding ways to work around it.

In the absence of guidance, circuit courts uniformly adopted a two-step framework that proved highly deferential to the judgment of state legislatures.[4] Specifically, the first step evaluated whether a restriction burdened a core right of the Second Amendment by applying Hellers historical approach. And if the restriction implicated a core right, then courts would proceed to the second step to apply intermediate scrutiny. This generally resulted in courts assuming that a law burdened a core right, but then upholding the law under intermediate scrutiny.[5] Accordingly, the framework effectively rendered Heller as a one-off decision that addressed the right to keep a firearm in the home for self-defense.

A House oversight panel on Tuesday subpoenaed gunmaker Smith & Wesson for documents on the manufacture and sale of AR-15-style semi-automatic rifles after its CEO refused to appear for a hearing on the firearms frequently used in mass shootings.

The House probe found that five major gunmakers took in a combined total of $1 billion in revenue from the weapons over the last decade, and they were at times marketed as a way for young men to prove their masculinity even as they became a weapon of choice for mass shooters.

Assume for a second youre in public when the unthinkable happens two suspects begin shooting randomly at people. Youve got your family with you, and there is no way out. Your first priority is the safety of your family, so you get them to the safest location possible and then take up a defensive position and wait for the police to arrive. Its a situation nobody wants to find themselves, but in todays social and political climate, youve got to be aware it could happen anywhere and anytime. Consider the police arriving on scene. Their primary focus is to find the guy(s) with guns and stop the carnage. But guess what? Now youre a guy with a gun and youre part of the scene. Do you know how to set yourself apart from the bad guys?

In Massachusetts a state not known for its gun enthusiasm firearm sales hit record levels over the past two years, with handguns dominating the purchases.

A WBUR analysis of state data found that gun dealers here sold almost 276,000 firearms from 2020 through 2021. Of those, 64% were handguns, which people tend to buy for self protection. Another 23% were rifles.

All told, Massachusetts gun sales last year were up 57% from 2019 and doubled from a decade ago.

As a shooter, you can opt to plink (shoot for recreational purposes only), with entry-level shooting skills and few performance requirements, or you can elect to be a high-level shooter requiring a much greater skill level to include on-demand performance. Choosing to shoot at the upper skill levels means that you must further develop your Depth of Shooting.

The term Depth of Shooting is commonly defined as the breadth and width of your shooting skills to include near and far, moving and reduced-size targets, multiple hits on a single target and across an array of targets and the like, all at measurable speeds.

History shows us that the governments goal is to disarm its citizens.

Common sense gun laws touted by our progressive Democrats continue to aim us towards that disarmament. But the recent United States Supreme Court (SCOTUS) decision on NYSPRA v. Bruen reaffirms that our Constitution codifies the natural Right of self-defense, making the governments goal of civilian disarmament virtually impossible to reach. They are pulling out their hair and straining to find loopholes and go-arounds.

Lawful gun owners and potential new gun owners in California have long suffered from a clever but quite unconstitutional state law that essentially banned the sale of any handgun released for sale since early 2013.

The result is an unjustified limit on what guns law-abiding Californians can legally purchase. But thanks to a new lawsuit filed this week by California Rifle & Pistol Association, this blatant attack on gun culture could soon be but a bad memory.

Almost three years after the Dayton mass shooting, when a gunman killed nine people and injured 27 more, legislation pushing for gun control faces little love from Ohio's majority-GOP legislature.

But it's been getting attention in the governor's race, where voters will choose this November between Republican Gov. Mike DeWine and Democrat Nan Whaley, the former mayor of Dayton. Whaley was mayor when the tragedy happened on Aug. 4, 2019.
