Abuse of the nations second amendment began decades ago

"Most conservative commentators have lamented that the recent Supreme Court decision, Heller vs. U.S., which struck down the unconstitutional weapons ban in the District of Columbia, was not unanimous. I am dismayed it was a 5-4 vote as well. We came very close to having the Second Amendment practically expunged from the Constitution."

"Amazingly, this decision was the first time in American history the Second Amendment has actually come before the court for a literal interpretation, and the court made the right call: the right to keep and bear arms is an individual right of each and every citizen, and not a collective right, as was argued by the government's lawyers." ...

"There has been substantial debate on the subject of conceal carry in The Daily Texan lately, but regrettably, much of the information that has been presented seriously misrepresents and even falsifies the critical legal and moral aspects of concealed carry. Although publicly disclosing having a concealed-handgun license defeats its ultimate purpose (by doing so I help dismantle the anonymity of conceal carry that is so inherently important in discouraging criminals from committing crime with impunity), I will volunteer such in order to help reinforce points and add some much needed clarification regarding conceal carry laws, and more importantly, what actual limitations concealed-handgun licensees really have." ...

"Frankly, I am shocked . . . SHOCKED . . . that the anti-gun folks are shocked."

"I have sat in many meetings over the years, local, regional and national, where we knew there were 'plants' from the anti-gun groups seated with us. Taking notes, taking part in discussions, asking opinions, and more boldly, asking about strategy. That is why 'family business,' as I refer to it, is discussed with those you most closely trust."

"Both sides do it. Get over it."

"This whining by States United to Prevent Gun Violence is really to distract from the fact that fewer and fewer Americans -- and lawmakers, for that fact (and the Supreme Court) -- are paying attention to their intellectually bankrupt arguments." ...

"Why won't the NRA speak? The National Rifle Association is not known as an organization run by people who are shy with the media. Yet the most powerful player in the gun lobby--and one of the most powerful political organizations around--still won't say anything about Mary Lou Sapone (a.k.a. Mary McFate)." ...

"So shouldn't the NRA have to address this? Before our story was posted, we called the NRA several times, explaining what we were going to report. Rachel Parsons, a spokeswoman for the NRA, promised she would get back to us. She never did. Other media outfits pursuing the Sapone tale have also received the brush-off. ..." ...

"To sum it up, for exercising his First Amendment right to petition his representative, Razzano had the cops called on him by Congressman McCarthy's office, which denied doing so until ordered by a magistrate to produce the name of the staffer who did this. Using the call as their reason to intervene, police made a decision to 'temporarily' confiscate Mr. Razzano's firearms. They subsequently revoked his pistol license, effectively barring return of his property. They have also retained custody of his long arms, and there is no provision to return them.
