I spend a few weeks every year teaching high-school and college students, and in my interactions with young people in and around universities I have noticed a trend. After class, at meals, and in walks around campus, the politically engaged students invariably ask me the same question: What do I think of Ben Shapiro? Nor am I alone. Recently Eliza Gray had a similar experience while reporting on young conservatives in the age of President Trump.

When a politician who abhors our freedom talks guns they can say some absurd things. America is going to get a lot less safe, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said after a court ruling that found firearm schematics for 3-D printers can be shared online. Schumer then said those firearms are not only scary, theyre outright dangerous in the way they can mimic the look and the capacity of a hardened, fully semi-automatic weapon.

Gubernatorial candidates Andre Gillum and Jeff Greene both called for a full repeal of Floridas Stand Your Ground law during MSNBC interviews with Rev. Al Sharpton. The fact that you have an individual who becomes judge, juror and executioner all in there own minds under the protection of the law in the United States is a deep travesty of justice, Gillum told Sharpton.

Police said the victim, a 29-year-old man, was sitting in his vehicle with his family in front of a home in the 5000 block of Pacific Avenue when a man approached him and announced a holdup about 11:15 p.m. The victim wrestled the gun away from the man trying to rob him. During the confrontation, the attempted robber was shot in the buttocks, police said.

The suspect, 39, fled to the 5000 block of Oregon Street, where he was arrested. Police recovered a .44 Magnum and .40-caliber handgun.

Michigan's Supreme Court recently ruled that public school districts can legally ban guns on school property, and at least one area superintendent is calling the decision a victory both for student safety and for local control.

Dr. Michael Shibler, longtime superintendent of Rockford Public Schools, says he is a strong supporter of the Second Amendment, but, as with any freedom guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution, there ought to be restrictions that come with those protected rights.

"I believe in the constitutional amendment, but I also believe there should be restrictions on that based upon where a person might want to carry a concealed or open carry sidearm," Shibler.

Hundreds of armed supporters of President Donald Trump, led by a fringe Republican congressional candidate, marched on Saturday, leaving blood from scattered street fights in their wake. Ostensibly a campaign event for long-shot U.S. Senate hopeful Joey Gibson, members of his group Patriot Prayer urged the president to lock up his political opponents, including Hillary Clinton, and promised violent retribution for anyone who threatened their right to free speech or armed self-defense.

Gun prohibitionists with Democrat U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy of Connecticut perhaps in their lead have ramped up their opposition to the confirmation of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court, worrying that he will give the Supreme Court a majority to overturn assault weapons bans imposed by several states, according to the Connecticut Mirror.

Given his history as being an activist Second Amendment extremist, Murphy said in a report by WSHU public radio, I think he is going to try to push the court to take another look at how it interprets the Second Amendment.

About 100 protesters, many wearing T-shirts emblazoned with "NRA = Not Real Activists," marched through the National Rifle Association's annual meeting in Dallas in May to slam the powerful gun lobby as too conciliatory on gun rights and rally for their candidate for the board. Adam Kraut, a gun rights lawyer, fell about 4,000 votes short of the 71,000 needed for election, but earned 5,000 more than the previous year, a sign of the growth of the Second Amendment purists within the NRA known to many as "gundamentalists."

In 2018, SIG Sauer introduced a new line of 9 mm pistol ammo designed for use in concealed-carry guns. The SIG 365 Elite Performance Ammunition is designed for optimal performance in short-barreled pistols, such as the company's P365 micro-compact. The P365 has a 3.1-inch barrel, and as readers know, shorter barrels often produce less velocity, and less velocity sometimes means that hollow-point bullets wont expand as well as they do at higher velocities generally acquired in longer-barreled guns.

After a judge signed the order that forced Wilson to take down the designs hed posted that enabled users to make guns with a 3D printer, one Twitter user trumpeted that the files were being spread.

Working on other peoples guns over the past decade has taught me that we all approach cleaning and maintaining our firearms differently. If the AR-15 rifles coming into my shop are any indication, some folks are confusing the unloading and clearing of their firearms with actually cleaning the guns. I find myself appreciating what the armorers and gunsmiths who supported me in the Army suffered through on a daily basis.

For whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

 Galatians 6:7

If the apostle Paul had been writing to the Galatians in 2018, the above well-known biblical passage might have turned out a bit more colorful: For verily, ye knoweth what they say about karma, right? She doth be a B-word.

Each year, Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) publishes the Wastebook, a project developed by former Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) in 2008. The document details the most ridiculous instances of federal government largesse, such as $1.7 million for a hologram comedy club in Jamestown, N.Y., $450,000 for National Science Foundation-funded research that determined dinosaurs couldnt sing, and $230,000 for a National Institutes of Health-funded study showing that rhesus macaques are aroused by the color red. For the 2018 edition, Flakes staff may want to examine a recent U.S. Bureau of Justice Assistance-funded study that came to the shocking conclusion that larger caliber firearms are more deadly than relatively smaller caliber firearms.
