It does give no small pleasure though, to see liberals decry legislating from the Judicial branch; the destruction of our Constitution by Presidential decree, and the growing realization among my liberal brethren that the Second Amendment is NOT about duck hunting. Why, there is even an acknowledgement among some that those dead white men, our nation’s fore-fathers, were wise to empower the people to form independent militias. That is truly amazing!

In his confession to police, 19-year-old Devaughdre Broussard told detectives he considered himself "a good soldier" when he shot and killed journalist Chauncey Bailey for writing negative stories about Your Black Muslim Bakery, where Broussard was a member and worked as a handyman, authorities said.
Broussard, who also uses the spelling Brossard, was formally booked Saturday on suspicion of murder. He was already on probation for a robbery conviction in San Francisco, and also had a pending case on charges of assault with a firearm from a 2006 San Francisco incident. In addition, there was a failure-to-appear warrant out for his arrest in that case.

The National Rifle Association said Ellwood City council's ban on carrying firearms onto borough property may be unconstitutional. Last month, council adopted an ordinance that allows only certified law enforcement officers to carry any weapons in the municipal building, parks or on other borough property and borough-owned vehicles. John Hohenwarter, liaison for state and local affairs of the NRAs Institute for Legal Action in Fairfax, Va., called Ellwood City Mayor Donald Clyde. He followed the call with a letter to Clyde and to council that Clyde said he had received Friday.

Cochise County Justice of the Peace David Morales ruled on Monday the evidence supported lesser charges of second degree murder in the shooting, but tossed charges of first degree murder, which supposes premeditation.

Morales ruled following a preliminary hearing that heard evidence from three migrants present at the shooting, together with a pathologist, Cochise County Sheriff's Department detectives and two Border Patrol supervisory agents.

...

Last year, border police nabbed some 1.1 million undocumented immigrants crossing over the border from Mexico, and recorded a soaring number of attacks on agents.

Lawyers for Corbett argue he shot Dominguez Rivera in self defense after he was threatened with a rock.

Not only did Bruno Kirchenwitz's U.S. Border Patrol baseball cap help get him fired, it almost got him shot.
Mr. Kirchenwitz, 54, was dismissed from his part-time job at 7-Eleven in Basalt after he was threatened by two Hispanic men who are suspected of later pumping five bullets into the store.
Mr. Kirchenwitz, who left work less than an hour before the shooting, was terminated by Southland Corp., which owns the 7-Eleven chain of convenience stores, for violating the company's "non-confrontation policy."
He contends he was fired for his views on illegal immigration and seeks a lawyer to sue Southland on his behalf.

Michael Speciale, chairman of the Craven County Republican Party, and Bill Harper, a former county commissioner, said law-abiding people don’t commit crimes with guns and criminals don’t pay attention to signs about gun bans anyway.

“It is a constitutional right of the people to keep and bear arms,” Speciale said. He said that having gun-free zones like at Virginia Tech or “a sign on the front door saying ‘no weapons allowed’ will insure there will be no law-abiding citizens armed to prevent carnage.”

Canada: Should we have an Outright Ban on Handguns?

At heart, the question of a total outright ban on handguns is a question of rights - and more specifically - whose rights are impinged the most and what is the gravity of either decision? While there is no specific right in Canada to “bear arms” as there is in the U.S., a total ban on handguns is still an infringement on individual rights as established by jurisprudence in Canada, specifically countering the claim in Harrison v. Carswell (1975), 62 D.L.R. (3d) 68, that:

“Anglo-Canadian jurisprudence has traditionally recognized, as a fundamental freedom, the right of the individual to the enjoyment of property and the right not to be deprived thereof, of any interest therein, save by due process of law.”

NORTH PORT -- He was pulled over for a speeding infraction -- traveling 21 mph over the speed limit -- but a lead foot is not what got Jeffrey Poulakis in trouble.

It was the gun in his car's glove compartment.

He was arrested and charged with carrying a concealed firearm, but the charge did not go far.

Prosecutors declined to prosecute the case, citing case law that says a gun owner does not need a concealed weapons permit in order to carry a firearm in a vehicle.

State regulators continue to disagree about whether New Jersey should allow a black bear hunt, with the state Fish and Game Council now proposing hunts in 2008 and 2009 if bear-human encounters don't lessen.
State Environmental Commissioner Lisa P. Jackson has been calling for more time to try out non-lethal bear control methods, including legislation to require use of bear-proof trash containers and public education programs.
But in its own proposed policy, posted Friday on the state Division of Fish and Wildlife's Web site, the state Fish and Game Council calls for hunts if bear-human encounters aren't down by a third in each of the next two years.

The death of a Butler County man last month will not result in any charges.

Tommy Haugen, 23, died after he was hit in the head with a lead pipe, by 17-year-old Michael Sincup.

It was originally reported as a fight over the theft of fishing poles, but investigators now say Haugen was angry because Sincup would not sell him meth.

The death was determined to be self defense.

Prosecuting attorney Kevin Barbour says he doesn't think he has a winnable case, given the number of conflicting testimonies.

If the Democrats win the next presidential election, you can kiss your individual freedoms goodbye, kiss the Bill of Rights goodbye and also the Second Amendment goodbye.

In the British experience with gun control in 2001, people robbed at gunpoint rose 53 percent. Four years later, it more than doubled. The anti-gunner’s agenda is very clear: enact a nationwide licensing and registration law, finally after it all fails, confiscate all registered firearms....

Reading the letters section, it seems some of your readers don't get it. There have been numerous letters from readers who think citizens who legally own or use full automatic firearms (machine guns) are somehow criminal, immature or a danger to others. They want to relate the Virginia Tech tragedy, where a mentally deficient person broke the law and with an illegally obtained pistol (not machine gun) killed many innocents.
