She said the legislation included universal background checks and a ban on gun purchases for Americans with a history of hate crimes.
The congresswoman said its the Senate that hasnt taken up the issue, preventing the bill from going any further.
I hope we can find unity on fundamental pieces of legislation. Not to limit their second amendment rights, and not to change their ability to own a gun. But we have to have this debate in this country, Escobar said. |

Gun owners in Rappahannock County can sleep well at night knowing for a fact that their Board of Supervisors plans to leave their firearms in peace.
On Monday night upwards of forty Rappahannock residents attended the evening session in support of a measure colloquially known as the No Local Gun Control resolution. At least fifteen people in attendance including some county employees were not wearing masks, despite Virginia Executive Order 63 mandating that face coverings must be worn indoors at public events. |

But has she pursued liberal charities with the same vigor with which she is going after the conservative NRA? Has she sought to totally shut down these organizations rather than reform them? Again perhaps she has, but if so, she should cite precedents. In todays highly politicized atmosphere, the burden is on her to demonstrate equal application of the law to all similarly situated charities, regardless of their political positions. She may be able to satisfy that burden, but she should do it with specific examples, especially of liberal organizations she has tried to shut down and throw out of the state. |

Yesterday, Governor Chris Sununu vetoed legislation that sought to allow the suspension of your Second Amendment rights without due process. Thanks to the Governors actions, House Bill 687 will be unable to erode our Constitutional Right to Keep and Bear Arms. Please contact Governor Sununu and thank him for vetoing firearm seizure legislation, House Bill 687. |

If you were jolted awake at 5 a.m. by an angry clamor in front of your house, followed by a ring of the doorbell, you probably would be alarmed. You might even grab a gun. That's what David Lacey, husband of Los Angeles County District Attorney Jackie Lacey, did on March 2, when Black Lives Matter activists came to the couple's home for a predawn protest. But what he did next resulted in three misdemeanor assault charges that California Attorney General Xavier Becerra's office announced this week: Lacey pointed the gun at three protesters, told them to get off his porch, and threatened to shoot them if they didn't. |

Authorities are still investigating a domestic fight which led to a 29-year-old man, who was armed with a handgun, shooting his 53-year-old father, who was armed with an axe.
Lee County Commonwealth's Attorney H. Fuller Cridlin told News 5 earlier this week that the incident involved a father and a son. His office is working closely with Virginia State Police to determine whether a crime was committed, or whether the shooter acted justifiably in self-defense. |

The propaganda of gun-control just got harder. Millions of honest citizens in the USA saw pictures of our inner cities in flames. They heard rioters say they wanted to spread that violence across the country. We read stories of the police being ambushed and killed while Democrat politicians called to defund the police. Millions of us went out and bought a gun for the first time. That makes it harder than ever to sell the fantasy of gun-control. |

Most states don't allow someone to claim self-defense when they are an aggressor, he said. But most states also say that when police are acting in their official capacity they can't be aggressors for purposes of self-defense law. So both Walker and the police can reasonably claim self-defense, and the law makes it virtually impossible to define an aggressor in the situation. A kind of self-defense stalemate that leaves a lot of questions as to what charges a prosecutor could bring in Taylors caseand could even lead to the end of the no-knock raid in American policing. |

But thats a dangerous assumption for Democrats to make. Even if the NRA is gone or tied down by litigation, about 43 percent of Americans will still live in gun-owning households. A fervent gun rights culture of hunters, collectors, open carriers, militia members and self-defense enthusiasts would still persist. Conservative media outlets would still cater to their fears. Other competing gun rights groups such as Gun Owners of America, National Association for Gun Rights and the Second Amendment Foundation would still channel the views of the gun rights grassroots to elected officials and new organizations could crop up to do the same. |
