Efforts by the federal government to sell 140 head of cattle seized from three Nevada ranchers for nonpayment of grazing fees ended in futility Tuesday when a judge blocked the sale of some animals and the rest drew not a single bid. |

With 'National Night Out' putting a focus on fighting crime, some people might consider getting a gun to protect themselves. But according to police, a self-defense expert and a gun-control leader, that's a bad idea.
"Firearms in the home put one at higher risk," said Dr. Rebecca Thoman, "For every self-defense use of a firearm in the home, there are 4 unintentional killings, 7 homicides and 11 suicides."

But the decision was narrowly crafted to comform with state law rather than the Second Amendment. Indeed, a concurring opinion to Monday's ruling hinted that such lawsuits might be permissible in the future; all the Legislature would need to do is amend the relevant statutes.
The ruling offers yet another reason for vigilance anytime lawmakers are at work. |

His digital image, captured by face-scanning cameras, was falsely identified by a woman who said he was her ex-husband wanted for felony child neglect. He was made to feel like a criminal when the police visited his job, and he wants to see the cameras shut down. He also plans on suing the city.
--Big Brother at it's worst. Turns out Big Brother has poor vision as well as poor judgement. Law suit to follow.
KABA NOTE: This is an utterly insane invasion of privacy. One can only wonder when such "identification" will be used against gun owenrs. |
