People are screaming and youre looking at chaos. This is a medical training exercise with multiple injuries. It looks like there are four people injured in the parking lot in front of your local school. Some of the victims may be dead and some may be dying.

What are your going to do?

I watched two dozen teachers face that scenario during a training exercise. This is what they overcame.

Joined by the longtime girlfriend of a black man who was shot dead in a dispute over a parking spot at a Clearwater convenience store, black pastors, civil rights leaders and politicians marched to Gov. Rick Scotts office Wednesday to demand a repeal of the states controversial stand your ground law.

Tensions over the July 19 shooting of 28-year-old Markeis McGlockton with his three young children nearby, escalated after Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri decided not to arrest shooter 47-year-old Michael Drejka, who is white. Gualtieri said his hands were tied by the National Rifle Association-backed law that allows people who fear their lives are in danger to use deadly force without having to retreat.

Are we witnessing the final days of the National Rifle Association?

Thats what the NRA would have us believe. The NRA has filed suit against New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, the New York State Department of Financial Services (DFS), and DFS Superintendent Maria Vullo, claiming that recent statements and judicial actions related to the NRAs banking and insurance relationships are politically motivated and intended to cripple the organization.

Two dozen pastors, the mother of Marquis McGlocktons children and her lawyer were initially rebuffed Wednesday when they sought an audience with Governor Scott or one of his staffers over the controversial "Stand Your Ground" law.

It began with a rally at a local church calling for the end of Stand Your Ground.

Markeis McGlockton and Michael Drejka both overreacted during their brief, fatal encounter in the parking lot of a Florida convenience store last month.

McGlockton overreacted by pushing Drejka to the ground, and Drejka overreacted by drawing a pistol and shooting McGlockton in the chest.

Although it is hard to see how Drejkas use of lethal force could have been justified, Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri declined to arrest him, claiming his hands were tied by Floridas Stand Your Ground law.

President Trump's Supreme Court nomination has brought into focus the issues the newest justice may have a hand in shaping over the next several decades among them, reproductive rights, immigration, and gun control. In an effort to secure the gun lobby's position on that last one, the NRA released an ad supporting Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation, and claiming Americans' right to self-defense is in jeopardy without it.

On Tuesday, August 7th, the NRA and the Second Amendment Foundation filed a lawsuit against the City of Edmonds to invalidate the mandatory firearm storage ordinance that was recently passed by the Edmonds City Council. This ordinance, which would unquestionably restrict the self-defense rights of Edmond residents by imposing a one-size-fits-all method of storing firearms, was passed by the City Council in clear violation of Washington's state preemption statute. As previously reported, the NRA & SAF also recently filed a lawsuit against the City of Seattle for violating state preemption by passing a similar ordinance.

A stop-work order remains in effect for Shadow Hawk Defense, a rifle range that had been operating illegally without required planning permits, according to Berkeley County officials.

The company is now working through the regulatory process, but the order was issued due to its earlier unauthorized activities, county attorney Norwood Bentley said.

"They entered onto the land and built structures and disturbed earth without making any application for permits to do that," he said.

"Anybody who disturbs more than 5,000 square feet of earth and wants to build structures in our county has to have a permit. They do that by applying to the planning commission," he said.

AR-style rifles are so wildly popular that other types of long guns, such as shotguns, can end up overlooked or underestimated.

But after some side-by-side, close quarters shooting with an AR-style rifle and a pump shotgun, shooters can be quickly reminded how formidable a shotgun can be for self-defense.

A college lacrosse player at a Florida university was told by his coach in June that he had to choose between the team or posting his hunting and firearm pictures online.

You want to play lacrosse for PBA [Palm Beach Atlantic University], you wont post pics of your guns and stuff. Thats simple. You want to continue to post this you dont play, the coach texted the student on June 27.

The pictures depicted law-abiding, non-threatening behavior. In one example, the student is smiling after a successful duck hunt. In another example, he is holding a holstered firearm.

The lawsuit accuses the city, Mayor Dave Earling and Police Chief Al Compaan of violating Washington state law, which prevents cities from regulating guns.

The Daily Herald reports the Edmonds law which passed on a 5-1 vote in July requires gun owners to safely store firearms or face fines of up to $10,000 for civil infractions.

Three Great Pro-Gun Resolutions for Your Town Council To Copy

With radical gun banners unable to move the anti-gun ball at the Federal level many have now turned their efforts to local small-town councils to promote their hatred of the Second Amendment by demanding local politicians do something.

Since most states have preemption laws that prevent towns from enacting their own patchwork quilt of gun control town councils are left with the one option of passing non-binding resolutions. While these resolutions have no effect of law and are just a declaration of the current board there is no reason they should be anti-gun or anti-second amendment, which only has the effect of normalizing the demands for more anti-freedom laws.

I made the promise that they cannot take your Second Amendment away, Young said in an interview with Reuters. So to prove it to her, that's when I started.

After his daughter died in a car crash in 2004, Young decided to keep his promise and began a journey to fight the state's gun laws that may end at the Supreme Court.

At first, it did not seem like Young's case would even be considered. He was representing himself and lost each case in 2008, 2010, and 2012.

Schimel is not one of the 21 state attorneys general who urged the U.S. secretary of state and attorney to cancel an agreement that allows the internet posting of instructions and plans for making plastic guns with 3D printers.

Our masters in waiting, controlling the deep state, understand all too well that the Second Amendment is the linchpin that holds the Constitution and its guarantee of human rights together. Let us never forget the wisdom and sacrifices of those who came before us to secure those rights and more importantly impart those rights to subsequent generations. A majority in Congress realizes this, even across political divides. It is not the NRA or gun manufacturers that politicians fear, but the retribution of the 100 million armed citizens who vote.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible to live without breaking laws. AYN RAND
