"Organisers of Increase the Peace say the event is designed to bring the community together and create a sense of hope and unity in Hackney."

"Artists, bands and DJs are attending the festival which features a talent competition for would-be MCs, rappers and dancers as well as a gospel musical gala."

"Junior Spence, one of the organisers, told BBC London that all the agencies need to work together in order to fight crime. "

FULL STORY BELOW:

A BELFAST man who used one of his kid's toy guns in an attempt to rob a Post Office has been jailed for six years.

The city's Crown Court heard that a drunken 33-year-old Paul Murphy was arrested hours later sitting with two cans of beer on the dashboard of his getaway car.

Prosecution lawyer Peter Magill said yesterday the self-confessed would-be armed robber, from Glenbawn Drive, fled empty-handed from the Balmoral Post Office on Belfast's Lisburn Road on March 14 last year after staff refused to hand over cash.

"The car, which had been used since January as her official chauffeur-driven transportation to municipal appointments, had become a vehicle of ridicule for opponents of the 77-year-old mayor."

"The car had been reported stolen from its owner - a 70-year-old Pennsauken man - earlier this year and was abandoned in Camden."

"An operation to rid Birminghams streets of guncarrying gangs is to be extended indefinitely, the man in charge of the offensive said yesterday."

"Despite a number of recent high-profile shootings, including one involving a taxi driver who chased after a stolen car in Nechells, West Midlands Police said it was pleased with the impact of Operation Dulverton."

"The initiative, which involved extra officers being drafted in to carry out high-profile patrols in hotspot areas of Birmingham and armed road checks, began five weeks ago."

-------
"Armed road checks"... "lists of targets"... "stop-checks backed by armed officers"...

Welcome to Concentration Camp "Great" Britain. Seems like what little freedom they had left in the UK is rapidly evaporating into Police State tactics "justified" by the menace of "gun-crime."

Ergo, be ready to be frisked and orifice searched because a few criminals commit crimes with firearms. All in the interest of "public safety."

"In 2000, the United States led the world with 28,663 gun-related deaths. Last year, nearly 170,000 guns were sold in California alone, and were involved in 95 of 113 Oakland homicides -- and, this year, 31 of 53 San Francisco murders. Every year, more than 150 'crime' guns are traced to a key defendant, Traders' Sports in San Leandro."

" 'Guns are wreaking havoc on our streets. This was never about money but rather to reform business practices,' said San Francisco City Attorney Dennis Herrera."

-------
Notice the rabid paranoia. Best to place the blame on the inanimate object for "wreaking havoc in the streets." Otherwise, it wouldn't be politically correct and would alienate possible voters.

"The Chicago workplace shooter's gun appears to have take an illegal trip to the hands of the murderer, including a detour through the possession by two police officers."

"Investigators with the Chicago police and the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives determined Beuck bought the gun in 1967 at a now-defunct gun shop in Blue Island. He registered the gun with Chicago in 1983. Police tracked down Beuck, who they believe is homeless, in a Chicago park."

"By city ordinance, all handguns must be registered, but no registration has been allowed since 1983, effectively outlawing possession of all weapons acquired since then."

"In 1994, Beuck sold the gun to Deering District officer Richard Schott, who is now dead, the investigators learned. In 1997, Schott died of a heart attack while struggling with a suspect in a police lockup."

"Sometime between 1994 and 1997, another Chicago police officer obtained the gun from Schott, police said. That officer, whom police would not identify, died in 1999 of cancer."

"Relatives of the unidentified officer told investigators they did not know he had the Walther PP, police spokesman Pat Camden said."

"The fact that the Supreme Court continues to back the atheists and secularists in every decision should serve as a warning to constitutionalists: This high court shoots from the hip. It can consistently be expected to back Federal power over State's Rights, egalitarian social doctrine over reason, and 20th century legal precedent over the Bill of Rights. Scalia actually opined to the Press that he feels the freedoms most Americans enjoy 'go way beyond what the Constitution requires'. That is an absurd and shocking position that could only be taken by a constitutional illiterate. The fact that this USSC is largely the product of Republican appointments speaks volumes about the actual conservatism of the GOP. There is none. The raison d'tre of the Republican Party is massive Federal power melded to social liberalism, as established by Lincoln. The current Supreme Court reflects that philosophy. This high court must never, ever be allowed to rule on the Second Amendment, or guns may end up being confiscated door-to-door."

-------
Wrong! The Supreme Court must confirm once and for all the Second Amendment's protection of the individual right to keep and bear arms. If we keep waiting, too pathetically cowardly to bring this issue to the high court, the government will continue to erode our rights until there are no rights left. The Constitution is clear. The Second Amendment is clear.

For a complete set of reasons why the high court must hear Silveira vs. Lockyer, click here.

"Drafted for consideration by the Edgewood Town Council is an ordinance that would prohibit the possession of any firearm on town property, and require anyone occupying or using town property to subject themselves to searches of their persons or private vehicles for firearms and other 'prohibited contraband.' This ordinance clearly violates the New Mexico state constitution's preemption clause and rides roughshod over the U.S. Constitution's protection against unreasonable searches and seizures. Although a formal hearing will not take place on this ordinance until September 17, the council has the opportunity at their Wednesday, September 3 meeting to strip these onerous provisions from the draft ordinance."

"The attack took place in a city where new handguns since 1982 are already banned, a giant so-called 'gun-free safe zone.' Yet, consider the following: Suppose you or your family are being stalked by a criminal who intends on harming you. Would you feel safer putting a sign in front of your home saying 'This Home is a Gun-Free Zone'?"

"It is pretty obvious why we don't put these signs up. As with many other gun laws, law-abiding citizens--not would-be criminals--would obey the sign. Instead of creating a safe zone for victims, it leaves victims defenseless and creates a safe zone for those intent on causing harm."
