"Federal air marshals have slept on the job, tested positive for alcohol or drugs while on duty, lost their weapons and falsified information, the Homeland Security Department's inspector general said Monday in a scathing report on the air marshals program."
"The government logged 753 incidents of misconduct by air marshals during an eight-month period in 2002, according to the report. The report criticizes the undercover program as being too lenient on officers involved in misconduct. Most were placed on leave with pay after the incidents." ... -------
The actual number of marshals is classified, but the article states that "several thousand" were hired after 9/11. So if there are 7500 air marshals, that means one in ten have had disciplinary problems.

"Picking an elk rifle is complicated by the fact that these most majestic of deer are big (up to 1,200 pounds), tough, and taken at ranges both very short and very long. The experience of pulling the trigger on one was all summed up 30 years ago by a great elk hunter and gun writer named Bob Hagel:"
"'The shot you get will be during the last five minutes of the last day under the worst circumstances you can imagine. And youll take it.'"
"Accordingly, you should choose a rifle that is powerful enough to put elk down nearly every time. And it must have enough weight to counteract recoil so that you wont flinch when you get your shot. If you dont like the idea of lugging around a heavy, hard-kicking rifle, thats tough. This is elk hunting." ... |

He was sitting in a patrol vehicle at the Monroe Prison Complex when he pointed his duty weapon, a 9 mm semiautomatic pistol, at the face of a woman corrections officer, according to court documents. The woman feared she was about to be shot.
A second woman officer who heard what happened told investigators Larson also pointed the gun in her direction.
The incident occurred Nov. 14. Larson, a corrections officer for 11 years, lost his job as a result. -------
