"Even the craven gun lobby should manage some shame over this absurd example of Second Amendment idolatry." ...
"Pretty brave words for someone who isn't staking his personal reputation on them. Pretty bold for someone who will take no personal role in the evil physical disarmament he and his fellow effeminate subversives on The Times' editorial staff dream of visiting on the Republic."

"Pretty slick the way he weasel-words his presentation to make it seem like 'the gun lobby' is against mental health background checks--despite the NRA supporting the McCarthy bill ..."

"You don't want to test whether or not organized American gun owners are 'cowardly,' pal. Especially not personally. Trust me on this." ...

"If you are a shooter, the skyrocketing price of ammunition is hitting home every bit as hard as the gasoline pumps."

"It's nothing new. The price increases began after 9/11, then were compounded by the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan which pushed up overall demand and growing industrial powers such as China and India, which either gobbled up or bid up the cost of raw materials."

"Chinese and Indian rampant construction not only ate up prodigious amounts of raw materials, but also resulted in added manufacturing capacity, which calls for even more materials." ...

"Yes, for some gun proponents, the over-the-top National Rifle Association is just too timid."

"We are not making this up."

"According to an Idaho weekly article about a gun dealer under investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, some of his supporters believe the NRA isn't 'hardcore' enough. They expressed that sentiment at a fundraiser for the 'besieged' gun seller who is charged with violating multiple gun sales requirements, after watching a 'black helicopter' film called 'The Gang':" ...

"Governor Rod Blagojevich today signed into law an important measure to close a loophole in Illinois' gun laws. A comparable loophole in Virginia allowed the Virginia Tech shooter to purchase the guns he used to murder thirty-two people, despite his record of mental instability and a ruling by a judge that he constituted a threat."

"With Governor Blagojevich's signature, Illinois officially became the third state to close the loophole since the Virginia Tech shootings, requiring that all court records on prohibited purchasers will be shared with the National Instant Check System (NICS). If Simpson is appointed this will leave his Congressional seat open to be filled, which also happens to be in my district. I have had several people suggesting that I should be appointed to Craig's seat, but I feel that I at this time I would be better suited to the House of Representatives.

The Second Amendment is very important to me and I would strongly defend it. Please contact Governor Otter and let him know how important the Second Amendment is to you as well, it does not matter if you are a resident of the State, we all have a stake in this.

"All available evidence supports the conclusion that Michael J. Sullivan and the [BATFE or ATF] in addition to shutting down legitimate, law-abiding firearms dealers, are in the process of creating an illegal database of all gun owners in the United States."

"Creating this database could certainly be seen as the first step in firearms registration, prohibition, and confiscation. If We The People do nothing, Sullivan, the Acting Director, and this federal agency with a current budget of nearly $1 billion and some 5,000 employees may do exactly that."

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
No kingdom can be secured otherwise than by arming the people. The possession of arms is the distinction between a freeman and a slave. He, who has nothing, and who himself belongs to another, must be defended by him, whose property he is, and needs no arms. But he, who thinks he is his own master, and has what he can call his own, ought to have arms to defend himself, and what he possesses; else he lives precariously, and at discretion. James Burgh, Political Disquisitions: Or, an Enquiry into Public Errors, Defects, and Abuses [London, 1774-1775].
