Is the definition of 'uninfringed' equal to 'up to 20,000 laws, but no more than?' Cedar Rapids Police are trading in their old guns for some new ones but the gun swap shouldn't generate the controversy it did nine years ago.
In 1994, gun dealers offered the city new glock semi-automatic handguns in exchange for all of the department's older models.
A federal crime bill had outlawed new guns with 15-shot clips for civilians but dealers could legally sell the used police models for more than new ones.
This time, the city will pay 450 dollars for each new handgun and get 300 dollars in trade-in value for each old one and the used guns can only be resold to police.
The city is ordering 250 glocks to equip the police department. |
