Much to the dismay of New York Citys Mayor, the National Democrat Party, and Colorados increasingly partisan Democrat Governor, the historic Colorado recalls resulted in the ousting of two gun-control advocating state legislators. But, dont expect that to stop the ruling political class from rolling their eyes at the common citizens pointless attempt at representative self-governance.
Governor John Hickenlooper, of New-New-York, gave a brief comment to reporters on the topic of the States first ever recall election after both Democrat legislators lost their bid to remain in office.

Ill have to defer to pollsters as to whether this is consistent with professional polling protocol.
PPP has admitted that it deliberately did not release a poll showing that Colorado State Senator Angela Giron was likely to lose the recall election by a wide margin ...
PPP is the pollster for Daily Kos, whose readership invested heavily in the recall elections, contributing more money than the NRA.

The Illinois Supreme Court today handed down a pair of gun-related opinions.

The justices rulings came in the civil case of Jerry W. Coram v. State of Illinois and the criminal case of People v. Alberto Aguilar.

Though the cases presented the court with different issues, both of the rulings could be seen as a shot to those seeking further restrictions on the right to own and possess guns.

The civil case focused on the denial of a mans Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) card application while the criminal case dealt with a constitutional challenge to two sections of the states Aggravated Unlawful Use of Weapons (AUUW ) statute.

Mr. Glater talks reverently about rights being "eroded" without thought to the innocent children of Newtown, the massacre in Colorado, and several other mass killing that do not deprive rights but certainly have deprived life... like an average of 11,000 a year in America. And assault weapons for what purpose?

Thank heavens that some of our politicians have the welfare of the people at heart, and all they want to do is put some common sense into gun laws; however, common sense is not so common, obviously. Wayne LaPierre, big National Rifle Association honcho, declared that "the way to handle an evil man with a gun is a good man with a gun"; and I would say that the best way is no man with a gun.

Depending on your opinions about stricter gun laws in the country, Oct. 19 will be a day to either lock and load or take cover.

Followers of Gun Rights Across America (GRAA) urge their fellow citizens to arm themselves openly and publicly in their front yards during Guns Next Door, a nationwide rally set to occur on the third Saturday in October.

The battle over the right to bear arms continued Wednesday night in Kingman.

National Rifle Association representative Jim Jett spoke to the monthly meeting of the Mohave Republican Forum at a Kingman restaurant. Jett said the NRA was mostly started as protection against unprovoked attacks by the Ku Klux Klan. A history of the NRA on the organizations website makes no mention of this, instead saying it was founded by Union Civil War veterans dismayed by the lack of marksmanship shown by their troops.

Attorneys representing both the government and a man whose application for a pistol permit was denied asked New York's highest court on Thursday to rule that state law does not prohibit issuing permits to people who only live in-state part time.

However, Alfred Osterweil's lawyer urged the Court of Appeals to directly cite his Second Amendment right to bear arms as the reason why, calling into question whether New York's gun law is unconstitutional and should be struck down. "This is fundamentally a civil rights case," Daniel Schmutter said.

A Texas teenager recently shot and killed a burglar at his grandmothers house. Few would say he didnt do the right thing.

So maybe we need a Stand Your Grandmothers Ground law?

Lets not.

Its bad enough that the nations series of Stand Your Ground laws are under attack since the George Zimmerman acquittal including Georgias and South Carolinas.

Despite the fact that the Florida law wasnt even invoked by Zimmerman. And despite the fact that the law merely codifies a natural, God-given right to self-defense.

Im not sure how you would use a shrapnel bomb for self-defense? Throw it at a mugger? Or detonate it to take the mugger with you?

That last one might not make much sense in America, but our man of the self-defense shrapnel bomb is from Afghanistan where blowing yourself up is a popular means of self-defense or celebration.

The pair had been arguing over various issues over a two-month period when Davidson allegedly found Larson on his property.

Davidson had armed himself with a .44-caliber handgun because he believed the confrontations had been growing more heated.

Larson's girlfriend, Mindy Lavon Bowen, 32, might have been in the area when the shooting occurred. However, she has been in hiding from police because she has several outstanding felony warrants for identity theft and methamphetamine.

Sickler says Bowen could be a valuable witness before the grand jury. She has not come forward to investigators, despite attempts by the Sheriff's Department to reach her.

An audacious band of citizen militias battling a brutal drug cartel in the hills of central Mexico is becoming increasingly well-armed and coordinated in an attempt to end years of violence, extortion and humiliation.

What began as a few scattered self-defense groups has spread in recent months to dozens of towns across Michoacan, a volatile state gripped by the cultlike Knights Templar, a drug gang known for taxing locals on everything from cows to tortillas and executing those who do not comply.

Before his trial began, George Zimmerman waived his right to a stand your ground immunity hearing. Eventually, Zimmermans acquittal was based on pure self-defense, which is why many are having trouble figuring out why the mother of Trayvon Martin has been asked to testify before the Senate at a hearing examining Stand Your Ground laws:

Do you think blind people owning guns is a good idea? Piers Morgan doesnt, and in fighting with conservative radio host Ben Ferguson on Twitter over it, he mockingly suggested Ferguson should get fired at by a hundred blind people with guns. Morgan and Ferguson faced off Thursday night on Morgans CNN show, continuing their fight over whether blind people should be able to wield guns or not.

Closing out a process that began months before the 12/14 tragedy, the Legislative Council on September 4 unanimously approved a local firearms ordinance.

The vote came after some brief discussion that included two amendments to correct some minor language points and to exempt active or honorably discharged military personnel from the requirement to have safety training as defined in that section of the document.

State Sen. Angela Giron promised to focus on jobs and instead went after guns. She canceled town-hall meetings and refused to listen to those opposed to her.

Senate President John Morse proposed gun legislation that even his fellow Democrats opposed, and then stated on national television that he ignored his constituents and encouraged others to do the same.

Concerned citizens were denied the opportunity to speak directly to their representatives, and hundreds were turned away from being able to testify at the state Capitol based on the Senate president limiting testimony. Refusing to be ignored, ordinary citizens got together and organized a recall effort.

On Wednesday, by the very narrowest of margins one vote the Missouri Legislature failed to override Gov. Jay Nixons veto of a controversial bill, House Bill 436, that would have nullified federal gun laws that infringe upon ones Constitutional right to keep and bear arms.

The Senate voted 22-12 in favor of the override. However, 23 was the magic number, the two-thirds majority required. Earlier in the day, the House approved the override by a vote of 109-49.

The Illinois Supreme Court, citing federal gun rights cases won by the Bellevue-based Second Amendment Foundation, today ruled unanimously that a section of state gun law violated the constitutional right to keep and bear arms, and affirmed that this right extends outside the home.

Word of the victory raced across the Internet, courtesy The Gun Wire and a handful of gun rights bloggers who picked up on the story, including Eugene Volokh, proprietor at The Volokh Conspiracy website. The decision may be read here.

He thought the officers could have just questioned him Saturday without the show of force and handcuffing, or walked with him toward the market while learning he was legally carrying the rifle.

Branstrom said it was too early to discuss whether he and Bauman plan to sue over the their arrests, but he said he had made public records requests of 911 calls and the officers' dash-cam videos.

Lawsuits over similar arrests have led to at least four settlements in Wisconsin. In each case, those who were arrested received money.

When 50 percent of the people in prison are African-American, I dont know how the castle doctrine can be divorced from that and what is happening in the courthouses, said Amos Quick, a High Point pastor and member of the Guilford County Board of Education.
Also on the panel were Demetrious Gooden, first vice president of the High Point Chapter of the NAACP, and Carlvena Foster, a school board member and director of the Carl Chavis YMCA.
With a minority, you often get a different outcome, Gooden said. My truth says it should go this way, and your truth says that way. It is not a level playing field.

The thing is, in California the law is just not called "stand your ground." But Worthington said the law is pretty clear about defending yourself.

"A defendant is not required to retreat, he or she is entitled to stand his or her ground and to defend himself or herself," said Worthington.

The homeowner's incident wasn't the only one to happen recently. Last October one Salinas man was cleared after he shot and killed a suspect trying to rob a bakery at gunpoint.
