Lobbyist Exposes Obama's True Views on Second Amendment

Hello, my name is Rich Pearson and I have been active in the firearm rights movement for over 40 years. For the past 15 years, I have served in the Illinois state capitol as the chief lobbyist for the Illinois State Rifle Association.

I lobbied Barack Obama extensively while he was an Illinois State Senator. As a result of that experience, I know Obamas attitudes toward guns and gun owners better than anyone. The truth be told, in all my years in the Capitol I have never met a legislator who harbors more contempt for the law-abiding firearm owner than Barack Obama.

Although Obama claims to be an advocate for the 2nd Amendment, his voting record in the Illinois Senate paints a very different picture. While a state senator, Obama voted for a bill that would ban nearly every hunting rifle, shotgun and target rifle owned by Illinois citizens.

Le, a a pharmacology student from Placerville, Calif., wrote a magazine article earlier this year about how to stay safe around the Ivy League campus...titled "Crime and Safety in New Haven," was published in February...produced by Yale's medical school. It compares higher instances of robbery in New Haven with cities that house other Ivy League schools and includes an interview with Yale Police Chief...who offers advice such as "pay attention to where you are" and "avoid portraying yourself as a potential victim."

"New Haven is a city and all cities have their perils," Le concludes. "But with a little street smarts, one can avoid becoming yet another statistic."

"Personally, I dont feel like [Republicans] are standing up and fighting hard enough, said Jim Bryant, an aviation consultant from Trenton, Georgia. I want them to stand up for truth, honesty, and personal freedoms.

The protestors, whose numbers were in the tens of thousands, though no definitive estimate was available Saturday evening, aired grievances on issues ranging from the bank and auto bailouts to Obamas push to overhaul the nation's health system to concerns about perceived erosion of First and Second Amendment rights.

Still, most of their fire was aimed at Democrats, and some of their sentiments bordered on extremist rhetoric that could do the GOP more harm than good.

More than 700 people showed up at Sunday's Firearm Civil Rights Conference, sponsored by the Sportsmen's Association for Firearms Education Inc., to talk about the right to bear arms.

Among the crowd at the Sheraton Long Island Hotel in Smithtown were at least a dozen politicians showing their support two days before primaries and two months before Election Day.

State Assemb. Ginny Fields (D-Oakdale) received a special round of applause when the association's president, John L. Cushman, told the crowd she was among those responsible for saving the Suffolk County Trap and Skeet shooting range in Yaphank.

"In addition to his radical views on animal rights, Sunstein holds questionable beliefs about the Second Amendment rights which most Montanans cherish. In 2007, he said, 'The individual right to bear arms reflects the success of an extremely aggressive and resourceful social movement and has much less to do with good standard legal arguments that [it] appears.'

...

Please remember, that this is a FICTIONAL press release. But it reflects accurately the beliefs of Mr. Sunstein, and frames the question I think Montanans ought to be asking themselves:

The National Rifle Association is targeting a South Carolina mayor for criticism for his membership in a group that opposes illegal guns.

The Post and Courier of Charleston reported Sunday that Charleston Mayor Joe Riley is a member of Mayor Against Illegal Guns.

The NRA urged its members to contact the mayor and "help him make the right choice between protecting your Second Amendment rights or continuing to be associated with those who actively oppose and undermine your firearm freedom."

Riley said he's seen the postcard, and has received some phone calls from people who received it, but he supports the group and has no plans to withdraw from it.

76 Reasons To Have a Gun

Before you reach the end of your life perhaps my 76 reasons for having a gun will help you decide whether this power tool should be in Your Optimal Toolkit:

1. The simple act of having a gun is its own best use. Like a battleship parked off the coast its mere presence changes the dynamic of the situation without having to fire a single shot. By having a gun you become too dangerous to your predators. Criminals interviewed in jail say they dont want anything to do with an armed civilian. That change in my human predators is exactly what I want to accomplish.
2. A right exercised is a right retained.
3. It's the best single tool for protecting your life and the lives of your loved ones. (JFPO)

With handguns and baseball bats, South Florida residents in recent days have been striking back at home invaders, beating and even killing those who violate the sanctity of their homes.

Two cases occurred in Palm Beach County. Thursday night, during a struggle, a Wellington homeowner shot and wounded one of two men who broke into his home. On Sept. 5, a group of men in a Lake Worth home turned the tables on a burglar, seizing his baseball bat and using it to break his arm.

And early Thursday in Miami, a man who jumped a fence and entered a home's yard ended up dead after a confrontation with the father and son who lived there. His manner of death has not been released by police, who still are investigating.

Thursday the U.S. Senate voted to end debate on the nomination of one of the most outspoken animal rights, anti-hunting, and anti-Second Amendment individuals to a high government position. By a 63-35 vote, cloture was invoked, which stopped debate on the nomination of Cass Sunstein to serve as head of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs.

Sunstein then won confirmation on Thursday by a vote of 57-40.

Hicks said she's been a part of both the 9/12 project, which describes itself as being for liberty and small government, and the Anchorage second amendment task force. Groups like those helped get the word out about the event, attendees said, and it at least partially sprung from the "tea party" movement that began last spring.

Miller said the second amendment exists to protect the right of people to be a threat to their government. One man carried a gun on a holster. Another had a rifle. Signs decried "Obamacare" and warned of creeping communism.

A 74 year old Lewes, Delaware man used a machete and his .25 caliber pistol to defend himself against a pair of home invaders who were threatening his life.

...

One of the home invaders grabbed a landscaping tool, and threatened the home owner's life. At this point the 74 year old home owner grabbed a machete that was next to the door and cut the home invader several times in the arm and hand. Undeterred, both home invaders continued to advance on the home owner, at which point he drew his .25 caliber pistol and shot the other home invader in the abdomen. Both home invaders then fled.

I had lined up early in the public "question line to insure I could ask the candidates their positions on concealed carry weapon (CCW) permit issuance, which I knew was a hot button issue for my readers. It turns out that numerous individuals had secured pre-arranged cuing for asking questions, none of whom were standing in the public question line. This resulted in only two of the eight people standing in the question line for the first 1.5 hours of the two-hour debate to get their questions asked.

Here is a problem all you gun owners can relate to. I bought a great news safe loaded it up with all my weapons and now I have my handguns and revolvers stuffed on shelves and precariously hanging of hook on swinging doors or stiffed in with ammunition boxes.

My gun safe has the room for my pistols it just was not designed to safely and efficiently store pistols and revolvers. I also need quick access to my everyday CCW weapon and a secure protected location for my more valuable revolvers and semi autos.

That all changed when I ran into Kevin Kinsella the designer of the Handgun Hangers. You might remember Kevin when we talked about his other awesome gun safe product Rifle Rods.

Each election cycle, the National Rifle Association publishes a list of endorsements, highlighting Congressional candidates who have shown strong support for gun rights in their voting records. A grade of A+ indicates:

An incumbent with not only an excellent voting record on critical NRA issues, but who has also made a vigorous effort to promote the Second Amendment.*

An A grade indicates a solidly pro-gun candidatewho has supported NRA positions on key votes. Grades B and C indicate candidates who progressively exhibit less support for gun rights in their voting records. A D candidate has frequently voted for restrictive gun control legislation and can definitely not be counted on in key votes.

Let's flip a coin and find out about prayer

In the spirit of open debate, I would like to recommend the following to your readers on both sides of the issue: Let's have Chief Justice John Roberts flip a coin 1,000 times on live TV while the devout of all faiths pray for "heads." ...

If the number of heads exceeds the number of tails by a statistically significant margin, then by all means we should have prayer in our schools. We will have confirmed the value of prayer by scientific means and most schools love the scientific method, so the resistance would be minimal.

Otherwise can we keep church and state separate as it allows for in the Constitution? If my fellow readers prefer not to keep them separate, can I suggest that we start to ignore the Second Amendment as well?

These are the people who went from "No Taxation Without Representation" to collecting "Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises" under the Constitution to "spreading the wealth" via near-confiscatory income taxes and property taxes and business taxes and inheritance taxes and sales taxes and every other kind and shape and size and variety of taxation imaginable.

These are the people who went from "the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed" to "roughly twenty thousand gun control-laws in the United States." (Second Amendment Foundation)

Every new foray by congress into regulatory control of the Internet sets a precedent for the next incursion, and the next, and the next, and the next.

Some people were animated by a single issue -- health care, taxes, the Second Amendment. But in dozens of interviews with marchers, the picture that emerged was of people who believe things are racing out of control along a whole range of fronts in Washington, and that no one is representing their interests. Obama and the Democrats in Congress, they believe, are simply pushing too hard on too many things. It's unlikely that there would have been a rally this size just about the stimulus, or just about cap-and-trade, or just about the takeovers of the auto companies, or even health care. But put them all together, and there is an enormous and growing fear that Obama and his allies are rushing to wreck the system.

We have gotten some positive feedback on our bill from both the NRA and VCDL. Some of the changes suggested by them have been incorporated into the bill, making it at even stronger piece of legislation.

We also met with Rep. Baudler last week, in an attempt to merge our bill with his. Right now, it does not appear that will be happening. His bill, in its current form, does not do enough to protect your rights. Unless that happens, we will not be joining forces with him this year. Here are the primary differences between Baudlers bill and ours. This is a bit lengthy, but its important for everyone to know exactly what we are fighting for.

Barack Obama's assurance that there would be no ban on sales of weapons during his presidential campaign could not stop a remarkable increase in gun sales across the US.

The Christian Science Monitor cited US gun maker Smith & Wesson report that there was a 30% rise in sales in the first quarter.

Meanwhile, police departments across the US are using the White House's taxpayer-funded stimulus bill to boost their arsenals with shotguns, handguns, and assault rifles, the report said.

In August alone, a record 1 million guns were sold across the country among the general public.

A man goes to court to contest a traffic ticket. At least three, and as many as seven, police officers are present. A scuffle breaks out between the badly outnumbered man and the police, which ends when one of the police draws his firearm and shoots the man in the back.

Question: Who gets charged with a crime, and what is the charge?

The shooting victim, of course:

A man shot by cops inside a small town courtroom in Arkansas will soon be charged with battery on a police officer according to the West Memphis City Prosecutor. The shooting happened two weeks ago in Jericho.
Fire chief Don Payne was arguing a traffic ticket, and got into an argument with officers. One of the officers shot Payne in the back.

It was time, Beth Salvesen felt, to buy a gun. She'd thought about it for a long while, and finally pulled the trigger. "It's my right and I'm 50," the Greene County resident said. Salvesen started the permit process last December and by the end of June, she had her permit. She is now the owner of a Smith & Wesson .38-caliber revolver that she bought for $550. Her partner, Sherri Roff, also 50, went through the process with her and owns a Ruger Lightweight Compact Pistol .380 that runs $350. Roff, the director of a rehabilitation center for women in Albany, said having the pistol "makes me feel safer. I have a much better chance of defending myself. Hope I never have to use it."

"We're now presented with a set of circumstances where there's a good chance other issues, like health care, the economy and people having had it with Obama, can sweep the majority leader from the senate. Gun rights advocates have the chance to be perceived as influential scale tippers. Or, we can allow ourselves to be marginalized and stand by while other issues dominate the debate."
