While crime rates are plummeting across the United States, France has been besieged by violent crime.
Armed robberies in Paris are up 61 percent for the first half of 2000, and authorities say kids with guns and the city's growing, permanent, poor and disenfranchised underclass are major factors for the crime increase.

"The star of the rap group Bone Thugs-N-Harmony pleaded no contest to possession of a sawed-off shotgun in connection with a January confrontation at a relative's house."

Assemblyman John Lee, D-Las Vegas, and Chuck Musser, a member of the Las Vegas Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, are leading a drive to get from 2,500 to 5,000 acres near Nellis Air Force Base for a public shooting range.
"We want to build a shooting center where enthusiasts can go and not cause harm to people," Lee said.
