Valerie Rupert raised her right arm, slightly shaking and unsure as she aimed at the paper target representing a burglar, a robber or even a rapist.

The 67-year-old Detroit grandmother squeezed the trigger, the echo of her shot blending into the chorus of other blasts by other women off the small gun range walls.

I was a little nervous, but after I shot a couple of times, I enjoyed it, said Rupert, among 1,000 or so mostly Black women taking part in free weekend gun safety and shooting lessons at two Detroit-area ranges.

Black women like Rupert increasingly are considering gun ownership for personal protection, according to industry experts and gun rights advocates.

Then upon realizing the occupants in the unmarked car were police officers, Stallings dropped his handgun and laid it on the ground.

Stallings argues his actions were self-defense, in part because he was aware of credible reports of white supremacists being in the area seeking to cause harm to civilians. Meanwhile, the original complaint from prosecutors indicates officers also feared for their lives.

Stalllings' mugshot later shows several injuries to his face following his arrest. Days later, Stallings case received attention when he was bailed out by the Minnesota Freedom Fund then, more recently, when a jury found Stallings not guilty on all eight charges against him ranging from riots to attempted murder.

The man was shot Tuesday afternoon by the homeowners son, Pierce County Sheriffs Department Detective Alex Richards said. He said the suspected intruder entered the home, and an altercation between the man and the 31-year-old son ensued.

The homeowners son shot the suspected intruder, Richards said. The man was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died.

The homeowner wasnt at the residence at the time of the shooting, Richards said. He said the son was interviewed by investigators who determined the shooting was likely self-defense. He was not booked into jail.

A repeal that would have scrapped a Jim Crow-era law requiring North Carolinians to obtain a permit to purchase a handgun from their county sheriff was vetoed by Gov. Roy Cooper earlier this week. The veto came shortly after the legislation was passed by the state legislature despite zero support from state Democrats.

Current state law requires an individual to present an application, pay a fee, and undergo a background check in order to purchase a handgun. Each of the 100 counties in North Carolina has specific rules for applying to obtain this permit, and each presents its own barrier to the free exercise of Second Amendment rights, but Cooper has now refused to correct this discriminatory law.

Texans woke up Wednesday in a state where its legal to carry a gun if you are neither licensed nor trained and where enforcement of anti-abortion laws has been crowdsourced to citizen bounty hunters who can get up to $10,000 for turning in anyone they catch helping someone obtain an abortion.

In July, the Black Attorneys of Legal Aid and nine public defenders offices in New York state filed an amicus brief with the US Supreme Court. Its hardly remarkable for criminal defense attorneys to file such a brief advocating for a given rule, and when they do, it usually attracts little attention. But this wasnt just any criminal procedure case. New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen is a Second Amendment challenge seeking to strike down a state gun licensing scheme. And the attorneys are taking the same side as a host of libertarian and conservative organizations including twenty-four Republican senators led by Ted Cruz.

In their statement from June 22, Burlison and Taylor expressed confidence that SAPA could withstand any legal challenges.

"From the 1842 court decision of Prigg vs. Pennsylvania, to Printz vs. the United States, and most recently, NFIB vs. Sebelius, the courts have consistently ruled that there is a prohibition of federal usurpation, or "commandeering" of state resources," Burlison and Taylor wrote. "Law enforcement agencies cannot be forced into doing the work of the federal government, especially when such work is unconstitutional in the hearts and minds of many Missourians."

Burlison said that some of the legal research leading up to House Bill 85's passage in 2021 dated back to about a decade before the bill's adoption.

Authorities said an intruder repeatedly banged on exterior doors and windows around a home in the community of California, Maryland, after 11 p.m. Friday before forcing his way inside through the front door, TheBay.net reported.

As the intruder entered the residence which was occupied by three people the homeowner confronted him, after which a struggle ensued, the outlet said.

But the homeowner had a distinct advantage over the intruder.

The homeowner, you see, exercised his Second Amendment rights and was armed with a handgun and wasted no time using it, either. During the struggle, the homeowner fired the gun at the intruder and struck him in the upper body, TheBay.net reported.

Investigators reported a history of violence between the two. The man has been in and out of jail. It is also believed there is an element of human trafficking involving prostitution involving the girlfriend and other women.

The gun and firearms market in the US is thriving, presenting a solid investment opportunity. According to the National Sports Shooting Foundation (NSSF), gun sales in the United States increased 13% year on year to 5.5 million units in the first three months of 2021, as mentioned in recent news. Despite the Biden administrations campaign for more extensive gun control, gun sales soared to new highs in March 2021, when the third round of federal stimulus money was disbursed to most Americans.

Could CDC Research Be Pretext To Censor 2A Activism?

The fact that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are back in the gun violence research business means that a threat that arguably eclipses Letitia Jamess jihad against the NRA in terms of a potential existential threat to effective pro-Second Amendment activism exists. In fact, the clock could very well be ticking.

One of the pretexts that Silicon Valley uses to censor are claims about medical misinformation. Just look at what happened to Alex Berenson at the hands of Twitter. Whether you agree with his take or not, this has to have the attention of Second Amendment supporters.

Former U.S. Rep. Gabby Giffords, who heads up the gun control group bearing her name, is spinning tales and vilifying the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) to advance President Joe Bidens shared gun grab visions.

Giffords penned an op-ed in The Philadelphia Inquirer calling for nationwide universal background checks on all firearm transfers. She claims this is what America needs but couldnt be more wrong. America doesnt need more background checks. America needs better background checks. Thats exactly what NSSF has been fighting for since 2013.

Even after witnessing the atrocities committed by fascist and communist regimes, citizens of most western democracies gave up their firearms. Like sheep, they handed over their natural right of self-defense to the wolf. Those who give up their guns in the name of public safety will give up about anything.

Australia and New Zealand gave up their firearms only after becoming too meek and obedient to offer pushback anyway. Rather than seizing guns by force, governments accepted them (after passing legislation) from citizens who no longer perceived the state as a threat or their firearm as a tool to fight oppression.

HPD Assistant Chief Larry Satterwhite, at a permitless carry roundtable hosted by Harris County Precinct 2 Commissioner Adrian Garcia Wednesday, said he wasn't worried about lawful gun owners committing crimes. But, he said, he was concerned about people no longer required to take safety classes being irresponsible with firearms.

"Overwhelmingly, the number of people that engage in shootings and crimes in our city, in the city of Houston, are people who would never be able to carry a firearm," he said during the roundtable. "The question is how do they get that gun? And this is the problem."

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear. ~ Marcus Tullius Cicero (42B.C)
