You might never need to defend yourself. That depends on both luck and skill. You can defend yourself with more than good luck, but only if you are prepared.

We did the research, and self-defense happens.

A Georgia boy is being treated for rabies after he was attacked by a raccoon on his familys front porch last week. Chandler Mahaffey, 4, was attacked on Thursday, his mother said, and was found in the grips of the rabid animals paws.

They got into a tussle on the floor and he was trying to fight the raccoon off of him, and as he tried to fight him off, the raccoon kept holding on to him and biting him repeatedly,

Mahaffey said she then shot and killed the animal, and rushed her son to Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston.

Submitters note: Bloomberg and his liberal supporters would have you believe that defensive gun uses never occur and prefer that this woman not own a gun.

A 29-year-old Kansas woman who was arrested after her boyfriend was stabbed to death has been released from jail after she claimed the killing was self-defense.

Sumner County Kerwin Spencer says Ashley Pearson was arrested on suspicion of murder after her boyfriend, 25-year-old Kyle Hill, died Saturday morning at a home the two shared.

Spencer says Pearson gave a statement two days later saying she acted in self-defense. He said Wednesday the investigation is continuing but her story fits the definition of self-defense under Kansas law.

When a stranger forced his way into her apartment, tackled her, punched her repeatedly and tried to cover her mouth with a cloth, Krissy Noble did what she thought was necessary to protect herself and her unborn baby.

She grabbed a handgun from the coffee table and shot the man three times. Then she ran to a neighbors apartment and asked her to call the police.

Although local prosecutors agreed that the shooting was justified, Noble faces charges that could put her behind bars for years, thanks to a marijuana conviction that made it illegal for her to possess firearms. Her case shows how drug prohibition and indiscriminate gun laws conspire to deprive people of the constitutional right to armed self-defense.

A controversial firearm ordinance moved forward at the Sept. 19 City Council meeting. A draft of the ordinance reads, No person shall keep a firearm within any residence unless the firearm is stored in a locked container or disabled with a trigger lock, according to an attachment in the agenda packet for the meeting. The only exceptions according to the attachment, are if the firearm is carried on a person (assuming theyre following other existing firearm ordinances,) or if the firearm is under the control of a person who is a peace officer . During the meeting, the council directed city staff to draft a more concrete form of the ordinance to be officially introduced to the council at a later date.

Georgia's Republican gubernatorial candidate Brian Kemp has unveiled a $90 million proposal for school security focused on mental health and local control. But absent from his plan was any mention of the topic that has dominated the national conversation around school safety: guns.

"This is a school safety proposal. This has nothing to do with Second Amendment protections or gun control ideas that my opponent might have," Kemp said, referring to Democrat Stacey Abrams.

Whenever a human is killed by a bear in Greater Yellowstone it sets off a chain reaction of speculation.

What did the bear do? What was the person doing? What was the setting? What were the circumstances and context for the attack? What does the emerging forensic evidence tell us?

Often and unfortunately, whenever the national media gets involved and urban reporters from outside the region pen stories, the description of details can turn outlandish, reflecting the writers inherent bias of visceral fear associated with grizzlies even if they have never seen or encountered a real bear in their life.

Everyone has their mission in life. Roald Amundsen felt compelled to find and reach the South Pole for before anyone else. Actor Tom Cruise spent decades pursuing his goal of becoming the undisputed Archduke of Crazy. Ive got my cross to bear as well. My mission? Finding the perfect holster for concealed carry purposes.

Ive spent a couple of decades on the job and have hundreds of discarded holsters to show for it. At the recommendation of my therapist, I even wrote a book about concealed carry holsters. Unfortunately, even if it outsells The 50 Shades of Grey, Ill never recoup all the money spent on leather and Kydex gear.

It's way past time to modernize the Second Amendment. Yes people kill people; guns don't kill people. But guns dont go off by themselves.

Guns in the hands of people are dangerous, even in the hands of people who are trained in their use. I'm certainly not advocating disarming the police. However, the recent killing of a Dallas, Texas individual in his own apartment by a policewoman is just the most recent demonstration how things can go wrong concerning guns.

A new legal maneuver commonly known as the "Red Flag" law allows law enforcement to file a "risk protection" motion in court to take away a person's guns if they have made recent threats of violence or if they have serious mental health issues.

It can be used even if the person hasn't been arrested or convicted.

A California law allowing certain people to ask judges to temporarily bar individuals who are believed to be dangerous from having guns is being used infrequently, a newspaper reported Wednesday.

The law, which took effect in 2016, allows family members and police officers to seek gun violence restraining orders that can remain in effect for up to a year, but the Los Angeles Times reported that state Department of Justice records show there were fewer than 200 orders issued.

Galvanos comments came after NRA Tallahassee lobbyist Marion Hammer, a former national president of the gun-rights organization, called him out for accepting a $200,000 contribution from Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund, which has been heavily backed by Bloomberg. The contribution went to a political committee known as Innovate Florida, which is chaired by Galvano.

Hammer, a longtime powerful lobbyist in Tallahassee, sent out an alert Monday to members of the NRA and Unified Sportsmen of Florida about the Sept. 4 contribution to Galvanos committee.

HI: Expected: Hawaii Files For Ninth Circuit En Banc Ruling On Right To Bear Arms

On 24 July, 2018, a three-judge panel of the Ninth Circuit upheld the right to bear arms outside the home. As expected, the State of Hawaii waited until the last possible day, then filed a petition for the Ninth Circuit to hear the case en banc, that is, by the whole court.

Because the Ninth Circuit is so large and awkward [President Trump should break this court up] compared to other circuits, an en banc hearing of the Ninth involves 11 judges chosen at random, out of the 23 or 24 judges (depending on confirmation hearings) on the Ninth Circuit.
