... "One of the reasons I like carrying a gun: it encourages me to scan my world for trouble. I like being alert. As the son of a Holocaust survivor, Im predisposed to it. By the same token, scanning for trouble forces me to value the times when troubles nowhere to be found. I reckon you cant relax if youve never really been scared. Make that wary."

"More than that, carrying a gun is a constant reminder of my responsibilities. It reminds me that no matter how I feel about myself, no matter what Im going through, I have an obligation to protect innocent life. I dont know why. I just do. Its a duty that applies to the people I love. And the people I dont love. And people I used to love." ...

"Regular readers will know that I most often write about the politics of the Second Amendment and Gun Control. While that is what I am most well known for, I am not 'one dimensional' by any stretch. I am a true 'Student of the Gun' [hat tip Paul Markel] as it were, or, in even broader terms, a student of the art of combat, with or without a firearm."

"I have worn out copies of 'The Art of War ( tiny.cc/49plmx )' by Sun Tzu. My personal library includes most of the most common tomes on the subject, including Von Clausewitz and his work on the philosophy of warfare entitled 'On War ( tiny.cc/djqlmx )' as well as both 'On Combat ' and 'On Killing' by noted expert Lt Col Dave Grossman." ...

"The POGR site features an image of an upcoming advertisement that can be downloaded emphasizing rank-and-file law enforcement support for I-591. Two major groups, the Washington Council of Police and Sheriffs and Washington State Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors Association have also announced their opposition to I-594, the 18-page gun control measure backed by the [WAGR]. ..." ...

"What to do with your heater while seeing a man about a dog or more critically, dropping a deuce has vexed gun owners since elimination technology progressed from the outhouse to indoor plumbing. Public facility stalls that dont extend to the floor tend to cause gun owners do stoopid things in order to keep their pistols on the down low. The mechanics are exquisite yet simple, its sturdy, but elegant and the accuracy fits the stereotype of everything made in the Alps republic. Thankfully, one thing about the rifle thats not Swiss is the price.
