"That the Burlington Council, comprised overwhelmingly of Progressives and Democrats, would enthusiastically embrace the gutting of Vermont firearms freedoms is self-evident. That they would use every procedural means at their disposal to do so, and rely on most gun owners being uninformed and uninvolved, accounts for much of the success anti-gunners everywhere have traditionally relied on, and that Michael Bloomberg is counting on now. In states where he has not (yet) established lobbying 'action groups,' he is relying on such collaborators to impose his will." |

Behind virtually every one of these slaughters is a loner who had shown signs of being mentally ill. The Navy Yard suspect, Aaron Alexis, had complained to police in Rhode Island of enemies passing vibrations through hotel walls. He was questioned in Fort Worth, Texas, for firing a bullet into an apartment ceiling and in Seattle for shooting out a cars tires. Though every incident pointed to a sick mind, none was serious enough to raise a flashing red flag. Worrisome how many unbalanced people fly below the official radar. |

Never mind the buts. Listen to me, college boy. Heres what you got to write. Say its all terrorism. Say the real terrorism is all these crazy people walking around with guns. Every day in America its shoot-em-up time. That poor Obama, all he does is go to memorial services. Newtown. Aurora. Washington. Its a plague. Its crazy that you cant do something about it. |

One can distill from all that that Chicago values including hating on traditional minded folks for having opinions; curbing their rights of speech and commerce along with the right of self-defense for law-abiding citizens; while coddling racists and doing nothing effective against violent gangsters who shoot up neighborhoods.
Over the weekend, Rick Moran wrote about the latest idea to do something about Chicagos violence: Bring in the National Guard.
Thats illegal. But its very telling that Gov. Quinn, another progressive, is even considering it. |

A sold-out group of 200, that included many Ramonans, attended Assemblyman Brian Joness (R-Santee) 3rd Annual 2nd Amendment Awareness Event Saturday, Sept. 21, to support and celebrate Constitution Week.
The event was held at the Lemon Grove Rod and Gun Club. Jones, who represents the 71st Assembly District that includes Ramona, spoke about the importance of the United States Constitution: The framers of the U.S. Constitution were very deliberate in crafting every word, including the Second Amendment. They knew that to preserve a free society, citizens like you and me would need the power to overthrow the government if that government became corrupt. |

With several severe anti-gun bills and one egregious anti-hunting bill on his desk for consideration, Governor Jerry Brown (D) MUST hear the VETO request of every law-abiding Californian DAILY. Governor Brown needs to know that the liberal media has it wrong and that California has hundreds of thousands of law-abiding gun owners, sportsmen and Second Amendment supporters as residents and voters. Governor Brown has until October 13 to make his decision on the bills listed below. |

When Sarasota's city commissioners set a "major priority" for legislative action -- especially a controversial one -- they should only do so after informed debate, clear discussion and unanimity among themselves.
Unfortunately, those standards weren't met this month when commissioners voted to ask the Legislature to revisit Florida's "Stand Your Ground" provisions, which some commissioners said promote violence and vigilantism. Certain legal experts agree with that assessment. |

The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners voted 4-3 Monday to amend the countys weapons ordinance to allow permit holders to carry concealed handguns in Tanglewood Park.
The amended ordinance will have to pass a second reading on Oct. 14 before going into effect. It would allow lawful concealed carry throughout Tanglewood Park as is already allowed at the countys other parks.

A study published in the American Journal of Medicine indicates that gun ownership does not make a country safer. The report also found another factor in the level of gun violence: mental illness.
Those who committed mass shootings in the past few years in Colorado, Arizona, Texas and Virginia were all men who had serious mental illnesses and access to guns.
"Mentally ill people who are not in treatment, are more violent than the rest of the population," said Dr. Eliot Sorel, who is a psychiatrist at The George Washington University School of Public Health. |

Dukes' presentation focuses mostly on the law, or lack thereof, in Utah. He walks us through the verbal warnings we should give before using lethal force, but ends with a caveat: "In Utah, you're not obligated to do that. You don't have to do the hokey pokey and then turn yourself around." In 1994, Utah was one of the first states to adopt a so-called Stand Your Ground law, the expansive self-defense doctrine now on the books in dozens of states and made famous after George Zimmerman killed Trayvon Martin. |

Both crimes occurred in defense free zones.
In Kenya, draconian gun control is in effect. In Kenya, if you want to merely own a gun, you have to fill out myriad applications and show a specified need for you to own a gun.
The terrorists from al-Shabaab knew this when they rolled into that mall in Kenya. The poor victims at the mall did not know it at the time, but they were bringing bare fists to a gunfight.
The al-Shabaab terrorists knew the chances of anyone at the mall being armed were nil, so they would have an easy time accomplishing their mission. |

A blogger is praising a law enforcement officer who respectfully visits with three open-carry protesters and his compliments are being joined by dozens of commenters on the Last Resistance website.
Philip Hodges posted online the video from a Michigan encounter between the officer and several sign-carrying conservatives who were advocating for Second Amendment rights.
Youll never guess what happens when this sheriff confronts 3 open-carry protesters, Hodges wrote.

No system compatible with a free society could prevent all mass shootings. But some shootings might be prevented by background checks and administrative safeguards that cast a wider net for both common felons and threatening, severely ill people.
...
Court action is the wrong trigger. Instead, mental health practitioners ought to be able to alert police and the National Instant Criminal Background Check System when a patient looks like hes ready to explode. That patient ought to be flagged and temporarily denied access to guns until doctors or other authorities can take a closer look at him. |

Demonstrators who joined Scheffler wore T-shirts emblazoned with silhouettes of a chicken and an AR-15 rifle. They passed out leaflets encouraging people to contact state lawmakers in support of a change to the law. They argued that while open carry is fine in rural areas, cities should have the right to decide whether people can outwardly carry their guns within their borders.
Bill Polster of Sheboygan Falls, Wis., showed his disagreement with the protesters' stance. |

While self-defense killings in Detroit are currently 2,200 percent above the national average, other cities in America may soon start catching up. Residents of a Portland, Oregon, suburb recently decided to expand their definition of Neighborhood Watch and establish a Glock Block. Many, if not most, of the residents on this block have procured a hand gun, a concealed weapons license and a sign warning, We Dont Call 911. |
