"Oregon State Sen. Ginny Burdick's plan to sponsor legislation designed to make female teachers more vulnerable to abusive ex-spouses by specifically stripping away their right of self-defense on school campuses is a 'new low in gun control extremism,' the [CCRKBA] said today."

"Burdick, an anti-gun Portland Democrat, has announced that she will introduce a bill that would specifically authorize Oregon school districts to ban firearms on campus ... this [bill] will be aimed at the rights of teachers like the one in Medford, who is fearful of an ex-spouse against whom she has a restraining order. That teacher has gone to court to force the Medford school district to live by state firearms law and the Oregon Constitution." ...

"Milwaukee County, WI Circuit Judge Daniel A. Noonan understands the Wisconsin Constitution far better than Gov. Jim Doyle and the Legislature's Democrat majority, the Second Amendment Foundation said today."

"Judge Noonan nullified charges Monday against a Milwaukee pizza delivery man who had been accused of shooting two would-be robbers, ruling that a state law prohibiting concealed carry -- at least as it applies to the case against Andres Vegas -- is unconstitutional. Article 1, Section 25 of the Wisconsin State Constitution affirms that 'The people have the right to keep and bear arms for security, defense, hunting, recreation or any other lawful purpose.'" ...

FULL TEXT BELOW:

A grocery store clerk in Framingham had a surprise Monday night for a would-be robber who flashed a .22-caliber Ruger and demand cash, police said.

The grocery store clerk pulled out a more powerful gun.

After looking at the .22, the clerk at A & J grocery on Kendall Street grabbed a .45-caliber semi-automatic pistol and loaded a round into the chamber, police said. As the failed robber fled, the clerk pulled the trigger, firing a round that missed the man but hit an ATM machine and a door inside the store, police said.

Police did not release the name of the clerk, who was in his 40s. The robbery suspect was described as a black male with medium to dark colored skin who was between the ages of 18 and 25.

A man is acquitted in a murder outside a local gas station. 30 year old Nashid Muhammad was accused of shooting Ronnie Rose outside a Marathon in Lockland in September of 2005.

According to the judge's ruling, the case was dropped because the facts of the case didn't add up. Muhammad's attorney, Mike Allen, says it's rare to see acquittals in Hamilton County.

"It was a case of self defense that we presented. It was a case of self defense where, obviously, the majority of the jurors believed in our self defense claim."

Muhammad had faced murder and voluntary manslaughter charges.

You see, he'd rather see unarmed police officers respond quickly to an emergency and be left as defenseless as the rest of the victims on campus."

"Brandeis police have exceptional response times; parties are broken up before they even begin, and cars are ticketed before the parking brake is pulled. That is, unless you are locked out of your room in a towel, in which case you would be lucky to be back inside within the hour. Following the tragedy at Virginia Tech, I discussed the issue of whether or not to arm our police officers with a few suitemates and, unsurprisingly, all three of us have very different views on gun control and how much power police officers should have. However, we all agreed that the Brandeis officers should not be armed. And so I was dismayed to read University President Jehuda Reinharz's announcement two weeks ago that the police will indeed be armed." ...

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
"And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling in terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand? [...] The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt!" Alexander Solzhenitsyn, The Gulag Archipelago (Chapter 1 "Arrest")
