Why cant everyone just have their DNA on file? Then it would be so much easier to catch this guy.
Those were my actual words at the age of 20 after a stranger broke into my apartment and raped me.
It seems like common sense, right? It would be so simple. After all, its for our safety. Then these things would never happen. All we have to do is give up a small piece of our constitutional rights (which should change with new technology anyway, right?) and then the government could completely protect us from all violent criminals. |

Its been about 150 years since the ratification of the Fourteenth Amendment, which granted black people the right to full citizenship, but some have recently questioned whether the Constitution applies equally to all citizens. Specifically, in the wake of the death of Keith Lamont Scott in Charlotte, N.C., somelike Eugene Robinson, writing in the Washington Posthave questioned whether Second Amendment rights are for whites only, as the matter of whether he had a handgun ought to be made moot by North Carolinas being an open-carry state. |

Another public hearing will be held at the Missoula City Council meeting Monday night on whether or not Missoula should require background checks on all gun sales and transfers.
Adopting this ordinance would include exceptions such as family members, hunting, and emergency self defense.
"What the city of Missoula right now is trying to do," said Missoula Gun Show chairman Hayes Otoupalik, "is they want to pass a background check, and they want to take city law and have it enforced by private gun dealers." |

Sen. Ted Cruz called into Monday morning's Glenn Beck Program to discuss his surprise endorsement of Donald Trump this week. A flustered and frustrated Glenn Beck paced back and forth in the mock-Oval Office where he records the program as Cruz explained his reasoning.
"What I said is: This is a binary choice," the Texas senator told Beck. "I wish it were not a binary choice. As you know, I tried very, very hard --as did you-- to prevent it from being a binary choice between Hillary and Donald Trump. |

The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled that designs of firearms to be used on 3D printers are not protected by the free speech provisions of the First Amendment. The court, siding with the State Department, found that such designs could constitute an export, given the lack of borders on the Internet, and as such would pose a danger to national security.

Recently, I ran in a four-mile rifle/pistol event in under a 95-degree west Texas sun. My feet kicked up powder-fine dirt the entire way. At least, I thought, I wouldnt have mud to clean up. I was wrong in a way, where it came to my poor AR, which took the brunt of dripping sweat and the centuries-old powdered sand all around. When I uncased back home, there was mud on the outside and hard-packed grit the worst Ive seen in and around the bolt carrier group. As I sat at my table cleaning the gunk off, it occurred to me to share the best tool ever for this job. Enter the Combat Application Tool (CAT).

In a survival situation, with guns, food, shelter or just about anything else, its always a good idea to have plenty of backup. For example, eating MREs will get old pretty fast and at some point you will be willing to lease your soul to the devil for a steak. Those who planned ahead will have the steaks. The size difference between .223 Rem. (in the foreground), and .50 Beowulf, .450 Bushmaster and .458 Socom (in the background) is apparent.

Authorities in Southern California have had more than 300 weapons lost or stolen over the last five years.
The Orange County Register reported Sunday that an investigation of 134 state and local police agencies from Kern County to the Mexican border showed 329 firearms were lost or stolen and some were involved in crimes.
Some of the lost weapons include Glocks, Sig Sauers, Remington shotguns, rifles and even grenade launchers. The paper reported that officers have treated their weapons in a reckless manner. High-caliber firearms were stowed in backpacks and gym bags, while handguns were hidden in center consoles.
Submitters note: Obama! This is how criminals get guns. They don't buy them at gun shows. |

Salisbury officials are considering a ban on toys and BB guns that look like real weapons. They feel this will aid in preventing the type of shootings that have taken place across the country. Officials met today at Salisbury city hall to address a number of issues including a ban on replica guns to protect children. There have been a number of instances where police officers have approached children and they have appeared to have a real gun which resulted in the child being wounded, sometimes fatally.

Oregon Gov. Kate Brown, lacking the mandate of an election win for her current post, is not well liked by some in the states Second Amendment community.
Brown, the former secretary of state, came to office without taking part in the traditional electoral process, succeeding Gov. John Kitzhaber upon his resignation following a corruption scandal last February.

A Wichita organization focused on gun safety joined forces with the Pride festival this weekend.
"Moms Demand Action" formed years ago, but is just now connecting with the LGBTQ community.
At the annual Wichita Pride Festival, a newcomer was among the rows of returning tables. It was the first time "Moms Demand Action" has claimed a spot at the festival. That's because something happened this year that compelled Mary Caruso to come to the event to represent the group.

Is NRA-backed Donald Trump going anti-gun? Only for "bad people." Trump said Monday that he wants to take guns "away from criminals," and continued to praise the controversial stop-and-frisk policy during the first presidential debate, at Hofstra University. "We have gangs roaming the street and in many cases they're illegally here, illegal immigrants, and they have guns and they shoot people," he told moderator Lester Holt of "NBC News." "And we have to be strong and we have to be vigilant. Right now our police are afraid to do anything."

Renovations and expansion continue for a gun shop and indoor shooting range at the former Furniture Gallery building on the citys south side.
Steve Ellis of Top Guns said he expects to have the new facility opened in early 2017, though he wouldnt mind an early finish to the project in time for Black Friday shopping this year.
It will be a draw for people from all over the Midwest, all over the United States, Ellis said Monday as he watched work going on inside the former furniture store.
