Theres a continual debate in the gun training world between whether you should train accuracy or speed.

Its a great question, but most people presume that the answer is either-or. It shouldnt be.

Lets start by talking about what "accuracy" and "speed" are.

WA: Are self-defense rights being encroached by I-1639, gun storage laws?

Regarding the safe firearm storage, firearms instructor Brett Bass who is also a plaintiff in the suit against Edmonds believes it is undermining the very essence of why people purchase guns.

Safe firearm storage is important, but firearms that are not in use have to be kept unloaded, he said. If you recall, one of the things that led to the Supreme Court decisions on the Second Amendment is that it required people to store their firearms in such a way that they were totally useless for self-defense purposes, which is the explicit reason that people choose to purchase firearms.

Theyre talking about secure storage, but what theyre really talking about is victim disarmament.

Savages MSR 10 Long Range is now available in the 6mm Creedmoor chambering. Shipments of these firearms have been delivered to dealers.

Built on the 6.5 Creedmoor case and necked-down to hold a .243 diameter bullet, this round shoots fast and flat. The case design allows room for long, heavy bullets while still functioning in short action rifles. The new 6mm Creedmoor is popular with long-range precision match shooters as the round doesnt beat up its shooter with recoil.

Savages semi-automatic MSR 10 Long Range takes the popular AR-10 platform to new heights, offering greater performance, expanded caliber choices and a modern design, plus a full suite of custom upgrades packaged as standard features.

Facts and feelings are often tough to square. Ill give you an example:

Iowa has the seventh-lowest murder rate in the country, with 2.3 murders annually per 100,000 people. Thats a fact per FBI statistics from 2016, the last year for which full national and state data are complete.

I asked followers of my Twitter feed, @newsmanone, and my Facebook page how they felt about safety in Iowa after the brutal slayings of Mollie Tibbetts and Celia Barquin Arozamena.

Steve Scalise faced his three Democratic challengers this week in the first and thus far only debate of the fall congressional election, defending President Donald Trumps controversial tariffs and explaining Scalise's ongoing opposition to new gun laws even after being shot and seriously wounded.

Scalise, the Republican incumbent in Louisianas First Congressional District, debated three challengers Lee Ann Dugas, Jim Francis and Tammy Savoie, all Democrats for an hour Monday at Loyola Law School before the Alliance for Good Government.

As the Senate hearings with Christine Blasey Ford were airing, the NRA tweeted a video rejecting the smear campaign against Brett Kavanaugh and reaffirming their commitment to seeing him confirmed.

The video features NRA president Oliver North providing a brief overview of the numerous Democrat attempts to interrupt the confirmation process. He reminds viewers of how Sen. Cory Bookers (D-Mass.) described himself as Spartacus and of the myriad outbursts during the September 4 and 5 Kavanaugh confirmation hearings wherein, a political party [coordinated] violent protests to smear a father and run his children out of the room.

Montana wildlife officials said a hunter shot and killed a female grizzly bear Wednesday and wounded her cub that was later euthanized in self-defense.

A spokesman for Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks told the Associated Press that the bow hunter was in thick brush on Montana's Rocky Mountain Front when he came across the bears at the Blackleaf Wildlife Management Area.

The hunter shot both with a pistol. The adult female bear was killed and the 2-year-old cub was wounded and had to be put down. It was unclear what lead up to the shooting.

The father of a Lancaster woman who shot a man to death Sept. 24 will face no charges after police and prosecutors ruled the shooting was self-defense.

Jamey Randal McCants, 44, died outside a home on Maplewood Avenue in Lancaster after he was shot by Jeffrey Curtis Horne, 58, said Lancaster County Sheriff Barry Faile. Horne shot McCants after McCants had lunged at Horne, Faile said.

McCants had physically accosted Jenna Morgan Horne, a girlfriend of McCants and daughter of Jeffrey Horne, Faile said.

Jeffrey Horne had a legal right to defend himself and his daughter from attack, Faile said.

Welcome to this special election issue of Americas 1st Freedom magazine. In this issue, weve devoted a majority of our space to covering this Novembers midterm elections, and its not hard to see why.

To be blunt, the upcoming election is one of the most important in our lifetimes. That might sound like hyperbole, but recent events prove what weve been saying for a long timeanti-gunners dont just want common-sense gun safety measures, they want to take your guns, and take away your right to defend yourselves and your families.

Consider some participants at the recent March on the NRA, where, incidentally, David Hogg made an appearancecomplete with armed security.

Those who are not reasonable, who just want to advance gun control measures in Pennsylvania that are rejected by the majority of our population, they want to ram this through today. This is about gun control, said Butler County Republican Daryl Metcalfe, speaking on the House floor.

He was one of 54 Republicans and eight Democrats who voted against it.

They made a number of arguments. That county sheriffs dont have the resources to store many seized weapons; or that Protection from Abuse orders are too easy to get with little evidence.

Blackburn boasted of her A-rating from the National Rifle Association. She said she is the candidate that is fighting for the freedoms of Tennesseans, including the right to bear arms.

"Tenneseans know that we can protect the Second Amendment and continue to protect our people," Blackburn said. "They know that taking away gun rights and putting in place gun control is not going to be something that makes our communities safer."

A conservative microcelebritys upcoming open-carry gun event at Kent State University has support from fringe militias, including members of a hate group, who have pledged to attend, according to social media posts.

Kaitlin Bennett became a Fox News favorite this year after she posed with an AR-10 rifle in her graduation pictures at the Ohio university still infamous for the 1970 killing of anti-war protesters by National Guard troops. Despite graduating, Bennett has hung around Kent State, and is this weekend hosting an open carry event on campus.

Dems need to allow young people to seize leadership opportunities like the republicans have with people like Rubio, Ryan etc., #Marx uh #March for Our Live enfant terrible David Hogg proclaimed in a tweet justifying his criticism of House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi as old. We can go younger.

That hes itching for power over others is obvious. Believing in the flattery of his special interest handlers and a fawning press, the high school graduate is champing at the bit to run for Congress as soon as hes old enough. That his lack of any concrete experience or understanding of the Constitution might give anyone second thoughts is a non-starter: Neither is needed for an ignorance-based popularity contest.

Claudia Tenney had a dire message for her fellow Republicans.

Today, the chaos of the Democratic Party is about taking away your rights, whether its Second Amendment, First Amendment, you name it, the freshman congresswoman said at a Cortland County GOP picnic here Sunday. Its about creating chaos.

That Tenney finds herself needing to encourage GOP voters to turn out might come as a surprise in an upstate New York district President Donald Trump carried by 16 points in 2016. But she sees Republicans as less motivated in a midterm year, and Democrats are excited about their nominee, state Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi.

Gov. John Kasich this month approved a pair of executive orders designed to review Ohios background check processes and expand the database used for the checks.

The first order would mandate that courts and police in the state upload personal protection orders and warrants into Ohios Law Enforcement Automated Data System, which the state uses to interface with the FBIs National Criminal Background Check System which is in turn used by firearm dealers to clear checks before transferring a gun. The second order would make permanent a watchdog group that Kasich formed to ensure state compliance with NICS.

What gets missed in a lot of debates and complaints is that sometimes, there just arent good options in an election. You have your choice of less-than-ideal options. It may be a choice between a lukewarm Second Amendment supporter versus an outright opponent. That is the case in Maryland.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
The prohibition is general. No clause in the Constitution could by any rule of construction be conceived to give to Congress a power to disarm the people. Such a flagitious attempt could only be made under some general pretense by a state legislature. But if in any blind pursuit of inordinate power, either should attempt it, this amendment may be appealed to as a restraint on both. William Rawle, A View of the Constitution 125-6 (2nd ed. 1829)
