In 1964, Marlin Firearms and Remington Arms joined forces to develop a cartridge that filled the gap created by the lack of lever action rifles chambered in .45-70. The result was the .444 Marlin, which was chambered in the acclaimed Model 336 lever action rifle. To develop the cartridge, designers from Marlin and Remington started with a .44 Magnum case, lengthened it by nearly an inch and capped it with a jacketed soft point bullet weighing 240 grains.

Think of the foremost applications of a firearm. Self-defense and protection have become the primary motivation for Americans acquisition of firearms, but the prevalence of defensive gun use remains disputed. New research, conducted in support of a brief for the Supreme Court, offers more evidence that a large number of Americans have used a firearm to defend themselves, their loved ones, or their property. |

Pocket pistols might be trendy, but theyre definitely not new. In fact, what we could consider modern, semi-automatic pocket pistols have been around for more than 100 years. The first decade of the 20th century produced several popular models in .25 auto, including the FN model 1905, and the Colt model 1908. The application and practical value of the pocket pistol is every bit as relevant today, and probably the most notable model of the past several decades is the Ruger LCP, chambered in .380 ACP. |

As the pandemic―and then the riots, lootings, fires and defund-the-police movements―raged across America, and as then-candidate and later President Joe Bidens (D) anti-Second Amendment rhetoric grew ever more belligerent, millions of Americans reacted by buying guns. And it wasnt just traditional gun owners who were buying guns and ammo.

On September 21, the Biden Administration filed an amicus brief in the pending U.S. Supreme Court case of New York Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen, supporting New Yorks draconian and unconstitutional restrictions on the right to bear firearms in public for self-defense. This NRA-supported challenge to New Yorks may-issue licensing scheme for public handgun carry is the first Second Amendment challenge to a firearm law to reach the high court since 2010. |

We recently wondered about our favorite anti-gun billionaire, Mike Bloomberg, and whether he would remain committed to buying the votes of legislators willing to promote his gun-ban agenda. We didnt have to wait long for an answer. The new trend in Virginia seems that the election season doesnt really kick in until Bloomberg starts pouring in money. CNN recently reported that Bloombergs personal gun-ban apparatus, Everytown for Gun Safety, plans to funnel more than $1.8 million into Virginia elections this year. This continues the former New York City mayors trend of spending his personal fortune in the Old Dominion to buy politicians that will promote his extreme gun control agenda.

The Hancock County Board of Supervisors entered into an initial discussion to consider becoming part of a growing group of Iowa counties becoming Second Amendment sanctuaries, for the constitutional right for citizens to keep and bear arms. This is discussion only (at this point), board chair Gary Rayhons said. Other counties have been doing it. We need to know the pros and cons and do a little research. When we take our oath of office, we are to uphold the Constitution, and that includes the Second Amendment. |

The U.S. House of Representatives recently passed its version of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), the annual defense bill that directs funding for our nations military. Unfortunately, this years bill contains two anti-gun provisions opposed by NRA-ILA. The first provision, included in the bill by Rep. Jackie Speier (D-CA), would ignore due process protections afforded by the U.S. Constitution and allow for the confiscation of firearms owned by those in the armed forces. |

There once was a day when a pair of jeans just felt good to put on. There was no pretense. No drama. Just a good fit for hard work or a casual day. Its almost quaint when the trouser label just meant comfort and not a political anti-gun agenda. Levi Strauss & Co. reminded the world that theyre not just a clothing company. Theyre the fashion of woke gun control. The company that was once proudly American now pitches itself as a global corporation that clings to a sustainability strategy that focuses on climate, consumption, and community. Thats according to the corporations first annual sustainability report to shareholders of how the company incorporates environmental, social, and governance initiatives.

Sporting clays is the most challenging of the shotgun sports. Its also become one of the most popular because, well, its fun. Also, every sporting clays course is unique, unlike American skeet and trap, which is the same at any range you shoot. Sporting clays gives you the opportunity to attempt a variety of difficult shots that require good form and shooting instincts as opposed to the muscle memory you need to excel at skeet or trap.
