In the concealed-carry community, we talk about self-defense a lot, but its almost always in general terms. We use the phrase defend yourself and we all kind of know what it means, but the details are never brought up. Thats because, frankly, theyre really uncomfortable. In order to successfully defend yourself against an attack on your person or on someone else, you need two things: capability and capacity. What does that mean?

Gun control advocates like to portray American gun owners in a highly unflattering way. According to them, we're a a tiny group of radicals. Hardly anyone uses guns to defend themselves. Owning multiple guns is unusual and suspicious. Few people have any use for AR-15s or magazines over 10 rounds. Gun owners are primarily old, fat, white, racist men. And so on.

Texas is gearing up to fight a judge's ruling that the state can't ban adults under 21 from carrying handguns, a move that's drawing anger from some gun rights groups. Last week, Attorney General Ken Paxton's office filed a notice of an appeal of the ruling on behalf of the Texas Department of Public Safety. It came almost a month after U.S. District Judge Mark Pittman, who was appointed to the bench by former President Donald Trump, issued the original ruling on Aug. 25, writing that the Second Amendment protects all adults' right to bear arms without an age limit.

Pro-gun advocates gathered at the state capitol to show support for the Second Amendment and the right to bear arms. Turnout was low but, that didnt stop groups from getting their message out. The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed that is the message gun advocates wanted to make clear. To make sure that our legislators see that the Second Amendment is not a secondary right, its a primary right, said Second Amendment March emcee, Joel Fulton.

Continuing to roll out fine American lever guns under the reborn Marlin banner, Ruger this week announced the new Model 1895 Guide Gun. The Guide Gun, a hard-hitting carbine with an 18.5-inch barrel chambered in .45-70 Government, was one of the "old" Marlin's staples, produced from 1998 until 2020 when the brand shuttered with the bankruptcy of Remington Outdoors. Now, with Marlin since acquired by Ruger and moved under the house of the Red Phoenix, the Guide is back in the field. Still based on the M1895 lever gun with a .45-70 chambering, the new gun goes a little longer than past carbines, stretching the alloy steel barrel to 19.1 inches for an overall length of 37.25 inches.

The Republican Party of Texas has a message for President Joe Biden in response to his pledge to ban so-called assault weapons in the U.S.: Come and take it. The phrase is known to Texans as the rallying cry that sparked the Texas Revolution on Oct. 2, 1835, in Gonzalez, Texas. The Mexican Army attempted to take a small cannon that was largely ineffective but used as a scare tactic to thwart Comanche raids and Texans werent giving it up without a fight. Their fight ultimately ended in an 18-minute battle in San Jacinto on April 21, 1836.

Hes a force to be reckoned with, said one. What gun controller would reckon with Mark Robinson? asked another, and several people in the boisterous audience smiled and shook their heads in wonder. Im just glad he is pro-freedom, said a woman in the front row. He is too honest not to be, replied someone else behind me. |

On September 23, 2022, Judge Maryellen Noreika issued a preliminary injunction against Delaware in the case of Rigby v Jennings. The case is about whether the State of Delaware can outlaw homemade guns and the distribution of materials and software to make homemade guns. The decision is a win for supporters of Constitutional rights but has some troubling verbiage. Judge Maryellen Noreika was appointed by President Trump in 2018. |

Editors Note: The article title says it all, and is indicative of the anti-gun rhetoric and lack of common sense emanating from the liberal media.
Acknowledging that its adults responsibility to protect children from gun violence, the Little Rock School District Board of Education is stepping up to equip parents with know-how on how to store firearms and ammunition safely. The board passed a resolution last week to include information about safe gun storage in student handbooks, and to send home letters in Spanish and English about steps adults can take to better protect kids from our nations gun violence epidemic. |

David Riley, commander of the American Legion Department of New York, said the group has asked lawmakers for clarification of a new state law banning firearms from "sensitive locations" such as public parks, museums and sports fields. He said the language of the law would seem to ban veterans groups from firing the traditional three-volley salute during patriotic events and veterans funerals. |

For me, one of the joys of having a large collection of military surplus rifles is shooting cast bullets through them. Loaded to 1,500 to 1,800 fps, cast bullet loads give mild recoil, low muzzle blast and perhaps the least expensive shooting costs possible. Consider the following. Most 6.5mm to 8mm jacketed bullets are running from $30 to $40 per hundred. Full charges of propellants are a low of about 35 grains for rounds like the 6.5x50mm Japanese up to a maximum of 55 grains for the larger rounds such as .30-06.
