This incident occurred shortly after midnight this past Wednesday outside a laboratory in Pasadena, TX. A man was outside the business yelling at a woman and beating on her car window. We dont know what his motive was, but she was able to get into her car and drive away.

The suspect then got into a car, drove through the businesss electronic gate, and crashed into multiple vehicles in the parking lot.

Another woman witnessed this, grabbed her gun, and confronted the man. She then shot the man in self-defense, who was transported to the hospital, where he died.

Even under Heller and Bruen, there are a number permissible if there is public and legislative will. These might include bans on assault rifles, military-style automatic weapons, high-capacity magazines and body armor; and weapons buybacks, red flag laws, expanded background checks, licensing of all handguns and non-sporting long guns, mandatory gun safety education for licensing, reasonable restrictions on public carry and even liability insurance.

Given the interstate nature of gun violence and trafficking, federal legislation would be preferable but, lacking that, the states could act.

While the governor and Republican-led Legislature push to expand access to firearms in South Dakota, a majority of voters favors restrictions such as waiting periods and age limits for some gun purchases, according to a statewide poll co-sponsored by South Dakota News Watch.

The poll of 500 registered voters showed that 60% of respondents support establishing a two-week waiting period to buy an AR-15 a semi-automatic rifle originally designed for military use and 54% support a minimum age of 21 for AR-15 purchases.

The new guidance highlighted in the leaked memo proves that almost anywhere in New York City public or private is a gun-free zone.

It basically states that unless someone is a police officer or a former cop, no one can bring their legal firearm out of their house for protection, like on public transportation.

The memo, titled New York State Restrictions on Carrying Concealed Firearms, states very clearly in its key points:

Anyone carrying a firearm is presumed to be carrying unlawfully until proven otherwise.

A bill restricting concealed carry rights, Senate Bill 918 by Sen. Anthony Portantino (D-La Caada Flintridge), was dead in early August, until it was moved out Assembly Appropriations with 32 pages of 185 new amendments.

SB 918 creates a new issuing process for concealed carry weapons licenses (CCW licenses) following the June 2022 U.S. Supreme Court ruling in New York Rifle and Pistol Association v. Bruen. According to Sen. Portantino, SB 918 seeks to address the U.S. Supreme Courts ruling in the Bruen case wherein it rejected a good cause standard for the issuance of a CCW license.

New Yorks updated laws include tougher training requirements to obtain a firearms license, gun-free zones for designated areas and increased vetting for potential gun owners.

After hours of public comments, the legislature passed a non-binding resolution stating its support for the Second Amendment. It also directed the county manager to determine what county properties allow people to have weapons while on the premises.

The updated gun laws face legal challenges in the courts.

According to newly released FBI data, background checks exceeded 2.51 million in August, which was consistent with the previous two summers. However, Small Arms Analytics & Forecasting (SAAF) estimates August 2022 U.S. firearms unit sales were at about 1.4 million units, a year-over-year decrease of 3.8 percent relative to August 2021. The decrease affected the handgun segment (−2.7 percent) significantly less than it did the long-gun segment (−7.2 percent). SAAFs firearms unit sales estimates and forecasts are based on raw data taken from the FBIs National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS).

DE: Delaware offers cash to owners of newly illegal large-capacity gun magazines

When Delaware lawmakers and Gov. John Carney banned gun magazines that hold more than 17 bullets in June, the law authorized the state to compensate owners for their now-illegal devices.

While Second Amendment advocates are planning to sue over the ban, as they have with a new law outlawing assault-style weapons, the state this week released what officials call a fair market offer to buy the newly outlawed magazines. Its an offer that could change depending on feedback from the public.

The proposal by the Department of Safety and Homeland Security, published in the state Register of Regulations, depends on the size and type of the magazines.

According to an exclusive story published by AmmoLand News, the ATF is about to force millions of gun owners to register their pistol braces as short-barreled rifles, which will then be regulated by the National Firearms Act.

To be clear, this is exactly the type of jack-booted thuggery weve come to expect from a morally bankrupt federal agency, which has outlived its usefulness.

According to the AmmoLand News story, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) calls their monumentally stupid idea an amnesty because they wont charge the normal $200 fee for an NFA tax stamp.

Biden Rhetoric An Opportunity That Must Be Taken Seriously

President Bidens speech Tuesday (Aug. 30) had a fair bit of harsh rhetoric for Second Amendment supporters. The upcoming one Thursday (Sept. 1), will likely have a lot of rhetoric aimed at Second Amendment supporters as well.

We need to take this shift in tone seriously. By labeling his opponents fascists, Biden has escalated the rhetoric in a very irresponsible manner. The stigmatization that has been wielded against us will increase, and it looks like things have moved beyond stigmatization to property damage. Hopefully, things dont escalate further than that.

In 2014, a Pennsylvania man shoots two state troopers, killing one. During the 48-day manhunt, police seize the man's parents' guns. Police don't claim that the parents or their guns were involved in the crime and never use the guns as evidence against the son. Nevertheless, police refuse to return the guns, now eight years after the crime and after the son lost his last direct appeal. Third Circuit: Which is an unconstitutional taking as well as an infringement on the parents' Second Amendment right to keep arms.

There's renewed attention on Measure 114 after a gunman opened fire at a Safeway in Bend.

The shooting left three dead, including the gunman.

Measure 114 calls for requiring permits issued by law enforcement to buy a firearm; requiring photo ID, fingerprints, safety training and a criminal background check to apply for a permit; and prohibiting manufacturing, purchasing, selling, possessing and using magazines capable of holding more than 10 rounds of ammunition.

With the news that Twitter is bringing back its Civic Integrity Policy, Second Amendment supporters need to be ready for censorship to ramp up. This is something that has been building up for a long time.

Of course, this is just one possible avenue of attack. There have been other revelations about censorship at least on Twitters part that Second Amendment supporters should take note of. If anything, these revelations, at a bare minimum, will need some serious oversight by Congress, and some serious corrective actions will be needed.

This is the 20th mountain lion to come to Oakland Zoo in need of help as another victim of human-wildlife conflict, wrote the zoo in a Facebook post. We are heartbroken with the tragic loss.

The Hollister Police Department responded with a Facebook post of their own. [The zoos] choice of words is careless at best and misleading at worst, they wrote. It characterizes our actions as having been reckless and impatient and none of that is trueOur officers exhibited patience, care, and concern for the mountain lion and the public, and they followed the lead of the outstanding officers from the CDFW. We operated and acted thoughtfully in the best interests of every living being, both animal and human.

After a national outcry, Bragg dropped the charges. But McCarter has not been fortunate enough to attract the same outpouring of attention, notwithstanding the fact that her case also looks like a textbook definition of self-defense, and notwithstanding the fact that Bragg specifically leveraged her misery to distinguish himself from his predecessor.

McCarter was arrested in March 2020 after stabbing her husband, James Murray, who reportedly entered her home, where he did not live, heavily intoxicated, and allegedly threatened her life. She was found trying to administer CPR while screaming for assistance, and her neighbors say Murray had been on a bender in the building.

IA: Oppose Iowa's gun legislation to protect the public

Citizens across Iowa are concerned about the rising level of gun violence in our state. The last thing we need is to tie the hands of our lawmakers as they consider commonsense gun-safety legislation. Yet that is exactly what the proposed Public Measure No. 1 would do, limiting any attempts to regulate gun rights for years to come.

Public Measure No. 1 does not simply replicate the language of the Second Amendment to the Bill of Rights, that the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. It adds that any and all restrictions of this right shall be subject to strict scrutiny, a stringent standard of judicial review that threatens the few gun-safety regulations Iowans have left as well as any yet to be proposed.

In 2018, Beto ORourke put more work into campaigning in rural Texas than perhaps any statewide Democratic candidate ever has. He visited all 254 counties, campaigning in far-flung communities where many had not seen a Democrat running for senator in their entire lifetime.

Still, he lost rural Texas by the same kind of landslide that met Democrats who came before him. ORourke lost to U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz statewide by 3 percentage points, but the margin was 51 points in counties with fewer than 50,000 people virtually the same deficit Hillary Clinton had against Donald Trump in those counties two years later.
