"The September Eleventh terrorist attacks has prompted a sharp increase in the sale of metal detectors. Garrett Metal Detectors in Garland reports it sold more scanners in the three days after the attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon than it does in a normal three-month period. Company officials say they've been filling orders from airports first." |

"Once again, those in Congress who would strip American citizens of their gun rights, and the ability to defend themselves from harm, are revealed to be world-class hypocrites. While they don't want other citizens to be capable of fending off a violent attack, whether from a domestic criminal or an international terrorist, they apparently think it is perfectly fine for them to have guns to protect themselves and their families." --Alan Gottlieb, Chairman, CCRKBA |

(This isn't really gun-related, but the argument is strangely familiar :)
"Since Sept. 11 much welcome discussion has been focused on ways to increase commercial airline security, which has often been lacking. But there is another, equally frightening problem: the small, private aircraft that clog our skies and populate small, often remote, countryside airports." |

"But the federal authorities mobilizing around the clock are just as worried about the solitary suicide bomber or spray-shooter, especially now that the myth of American invulnerability to terrorism has been so decisively punctured... In the meantime, it's not too much to insist that we should make it much harder for terrorists to shop for weapons in this country." --Thomas Oliphant, The Boston Globe |

Here is what Arafats government-controlled newspaper, Al Hayat Al Jadida, said on September 11, the very day of the suicide bombing of the World Trade Center and the Pentagon:
"The suicide bombers of today are the noble successors of the Lebanese suicide bombers, who taught the U.S. Marines a tough lesson in [Lebanon]... These suicide bombers are the salt of the earth, the engines of history... They are the most honorable people among us..." |

"A bill that would allow 10-year-olds to hunt was killed yesterday as the result of public antagonism."
The bill, proposed by state Rep. Bruce Smith (D-York), would have allowed 10-year-olds to hunt if they passed a hunter safety course and were directly supervised by an adult with a hunting license.
Junior hunting licenses can now be obtained by 12-year-olds. Smith wanted the age requirement lowered by two years. |

"The newly-reduced sphere of personal liberty, they insist, would only last as long as the threat against us. But how long would that be? The war we are preparing for would go on indefinitely since we will never be able to be sure that our new enemy has been defeated. Thus, if we accept a new definition of what it means to be an American that new definition also risks becoming permanent." --David Lytel, Democrats.com |

Jennifer Howren, 34, is a co-pilot on the Canadair regional jet. She says she's open to the suggestion that pilots be allowed to carry guns on board for safety.
"There are bullets that are lethal yet will not penetrate the walls of the airplane and compromise the integrity of the cabin," Howren said. "It is a question, whether each individual pilot standing behind that gun is willing to use it." |

More than just increase the Land and Water Conservation Fund, it increases the total amount of offshore revenue to the government for CARA to $3.1 billion with over $1 billion a year for acquisition of private property. It also gives the federal agencies a blank check by placing these funds off budget, with little to no accountability on how the money is spent. Further, it creates several new environmental programs that will make current environmental laws such as the EPA pale in comparison. |
