"How the gun owner community will react to the merger remains to be seen. At this writing, it does not appear those opposed to the acquisition are doing anything other than expressing strengthened resolve, while those intent on helping JPFO through the transition remain hopeful. Based on interest expressed in limited venues where the development is being discussed, it appears many are either unaware or else unconcerned." |

"As a recent gun owner, Allens apparent assumption her concealed carry permit, like her Pennsylvania drivers license, would be honored everywhere, may seem hopelessly nave to those who would rather put the blame on her than on draconian edicts that deny supposedly unalienable rights. But the fear of gun owners running afoul of regional restrictions is exactly the reason behind state preemption of firearms laws, so that good citizens dont get caught up in a patchwork quilt of conflicting regulations whenever they cross an arbitrary boundary line." |

The National Rifle Association has unleashed a multimillion-dollar TV advertising campaign that its longtime leader says is aimed at messaging beyond gun rights and reaching middle-class mothers, minorities and other Americans who believe our country is off the rails. The gun lobbys campaign, launched in the last 10 days, uncharacteristically delves into issues far beyond the Second Amendment to explore the IRS scandal, media elitism and security vulnerabilities, with a call to return good guys to power.

A NY SAFE Act investigation has begun at a business in a neighboring county. The Albion Gun Shop, located on Hamilton St. in the Town of Albion in Orleans County, has received a "request" from the New York State Police for records of all persons who have purchased a bullet button AR-15 from the store since the SAFE Act was passed and signed into law in January of 2013, A bullet button AR-15 is a rifle that has been modified with a special feature that makes a semiautomatic rifle's magazine permanent, or not detachable without a special tool. ... The state police can demand access to these records anytime, and no warrant is necessary. |

When tension is high weapons can come out. But when it comes to using those for self defense, lawyers say that's something you'll have to prove to a jury.
"Just because you have the gun, whether you have the concealed weapons permit or not, doesn't mean you're justified when you take it out and use it," said attorney Mike Nichols.
Police also say when you see someone driving recklessly never stop and try to reason with them, because a fight isn't worth your life. |

Even the veteran commentator of all things considered judicial, Linda Greenhouse, couldnt disguise her enthusiasm, writing: Guns and abortion? Thats a pairing no previous judicial opinion has made. By pairing gun rights and abortion rights, Judge Thompson was not just indulging in shock value. He was making a profound point: that a rightany rightwithout the infrastructure and the social conditions that enable its exercise is no right at all. |

One small school district in eastern Washington state has made the decision to arm its school administrators. See: Toppenish School District arming its administrators
This is, of course, in reaction to the many school shootings we have seen play out on our television screens, beginning with Columbine. I believe in our Second Amendment right to bear arms, but personally, I don't believe in the wisdom of arming a civilian force with little training. |

Last month, the National Rifle Association of America Washingtonians Opposed to I 594 launched VoteNo594.com to help inform Washington voters about this onerous and misguided initiative.
Currently being misrepresented by its advocates as a means to prevent violent crime and keep firearms out of the hands of prohibited persons, Initiative 594, as written, will have a very negative effect on responsible gun owners and Second Amendment supporters. |

In the 2014 Georgia General Assembly session, legislators passed two bills relating to second amendment rights: House Bill 826 and House Bill 60, known colloquially as the Guns Everywhere Bill. Except that everywhere doesnt really mean everywhere, including in many cases if the property owner chooses to prohibit guns.
The Gwinnett Daily Post reports that a Snellville man has filed a lawsuit seeking to overturn a decision by Gwinnett County Public Schools that he could not bring his weapon onto school property. |

In Ohio, open carry is legal according to state law. Just as journalists use the First Amendment for freedom of speech, we in Ohio use the Second Amendment for our right to openly carry to protect ourselves and our families. Open carry is a right given to us in the Bill of Rights of the United States Constitution. |

The ads feature a series of striking images; armed shoppers standing next to customers breaking Kroger's store policies.
The caption reads, "One of them isn't welcome at Kroger. Guess which one." |

A group advocating for Second Amendment rights has decided that no gubernatorial candidates deserve its endorsement and that gun owners instead should take a throw the rascals out mentality to the voting booth.
Connecticut Carrys statement Monday came just days after another group, Connecticut Citizens Defense League, endorsed Republican candidate Thomas C. Foley despite petitioning candidate Joe Viscontis vow to overturn the states 2013 gun legislation. |

After nearly two weeks of speculation, the Second Amendment Foundation made it official this morning by confirming that the Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership has now merged with the Bellevue-based gun rights organization.
JPFO was founded in 1989 by the late Aaron Zelman. Since his death on Dec. 21, 2010, the organization has had problems. SAF was approached about the merger, and the process was kept confidential until the middle of last month when writer Claire Wolfe, upset over the looming acquisition, broke the story. |

In a resounding affirmation of the rationale behind I-591 and a thorough rebuttal of opponents, WAC Board Member and CCRKBA Chair Alan Gottlieb hammered out a painfully clear message in the newly posted TVW Video Voters Guide.
Initiative 591 is a simple and straightforward proposal filling less than a page, with only two provisions. It forbids the seizure of firearms without due process, and sets a minimum standard for any mandatory firearms background check implemented in Washington that such a check be conducted in accordance with a uniform federal standard. |
