None of us buy a pair of shoes without first trying them on. But when you are in the market for a new shotgun thats precisely the predicament you face. You cant leave the store with the gun and drive to the skeet range to see if its a good fit until you pay for it. So, how do you know if an off-the-shelf shotgun is the right one? Fortunately, there are many ways to check gun fit without ever firing a shotshell. And there are even more ways of adjusting gun fit after your purchase. |

I was chatting with Marc Morganti, the founder, owner, solo gunsmith and simply put the really smart machinist guru at Gemini Customs. Trust me on this last bit, by the way. I asked him, simply, Why this gun? |

Ruger this week took a pause to fill the gap left in its lineup since the SR-762 was discontinued and introduced the sub-7-pound SFAR. The new Ruger Small-Frame Autoloading Rifle is more appropriately described as a .308 Winchester-chambered AR-15 rather than a true AR10 as its barrel and bolt are roughly the same size overall as the company's AR-556 series and accepts standard AR-15 trigger groups, receiver end plates, charging handles, pistol grips, and adjustable stocks. Ruger has hit the ground running with the new rifle available in both a 16-inch (6.8 pounds) and 20-inch (7.3 pounds) format.

I have read more articles than I remember about how to pack a gun if you want to take it on an airplane for your trip out of town. On the other hand, not much is out there walking you through what to expect at the airport. The number one rule is YOUR UNLOADED GUN, AND ALL RELATED ITEMS HAVE TO BE CHECKED IN AT THE BAGGAGE COUNTER. It sounds simple, but it would surprise you how many people get caught going through the security screening with something they shouldnt. My biggest fear is that someday I will miss that single round of ammo that got dropped in my carry-on by mistake, and I will have to explain to the TSA why its there. |

The 9mm vs 40 Smith & Wesson (40 S&W) debate has been raging since the introduction of the 40 S&W in early 1990. Typically, the debate centers on which of the two pistol cartridges are superior for concealed carry.
The law enforcement community has flip-flopped on this issue over recent years as the FBI is retiring their 40 S&W Glock 22 sidearms and returning to the 9mm Luger as their standard issue ammo for their field agents. |

On Aug. 24, New Yorks Democrat governor Kathy Hochul gave a speech about how the Empire State is combatting what she repeatedly referred to as gun violence. Among other things, her remarks suggested that the state will begin using political and ideological litmus tests to determine who is a suitable person to own or carry a firearm. There are two main methods gun control advocates use to advance their agenda, which ultimately would ban firearm ownership for anyone but those who protect the gun control advocates themselves or who prop up their regimes as police, soldiers, security guards, etc. |
