This year, a gun rights group rattled the eight police departments involved, demanding to know everything about the guns they received, including the names of those who turned them in. Grand Rapids conducted its event as no questions asked; IDs werent required. But Oakland County required all participants parting with guns to provide their names and addresses, according to Michigan Open Carry, a statewide gun rights group based in Lansing.

Gun sales in the United States have hit record-highs in recent years and the increase appears to be driven, at least in part, by concerns over personal safety. According to an October 2021 Gallup poll, 88% of gun owners in the U.S. have a firearm for protection against crime up from just 65% in the year 2000. The evolving consumer market has brought meaningful changes to the firearm industry.

The best of intentions often precede the drafting of the worst policies. Senate Bill 23-169 is no deviation from that rule. The desire to end gun violence especially when it victimizes our children is a universal cause. The unjustified ending of life is not only the gravest violation of liberty but violates our shared morality as a nation.

Though raising the age to own a firearm to 21 seems to check the boxes on paper, it falls short in both effectiveness and principle.

Tanners defense attorneys painted a picture for jurors of Tanner shooting Silas in self-defense due to Silas being a very controlling person and subject to bursts of outrage.

During the trial, the report said that the defense brought forth Tanners friends who testified that Silas wouldnt allow them to speak to her. They also testified that he had injured the family dog and it was feared that he would actually kill the dog.

In previous articles Ive written about Situational Awareness, Command Presence, and the Mindset as it relates to planning and preparing for possible life-threatening events. These are very important aspects of surviving deadly encounters but the core to your defense relies mainly on one specific tool. This tool is carried with you every day no matter where you are or what you are doing. The tool is the basis for everything you do in a self-defense situation or everything you decide not to do, depending on the scenario. This tool is your brain, and more importantly, how you allow your brain to function.

A federal appeals court on Thursday gave two gun owners another shot at blocking California's restrictions on openly carrying firearms in public, citing a major U.S. Supreme Court ruling last year that expanded gun rights.

A three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that a lower-court judge applied the incorrect legal standard when she declined last year to issue a preliminary injunction barring enforcement of California's law.

Thinking about a successful hunt, most of us go right to the weapon. Which rifle and caliber would be best for my chosen prey? Which crossbow and bolt combination would ensure a clean kill? Equally as important to the hunt itself is what happens after the shot has been taken. All of that work means nothing if you cant remove your fresh meat from the wilderness. Having the right tools to dress your animal in the field is crucial, especially when your intended target is large. Perfect for skinning and dressing, as well as many other tasks, a good blade can make for far better results and far less cursing.
