However, District Attorney Gordon McLaughlin said in a decision letter that the claim of self-defense could not sufficiently be disproved; therefore murder charges could not be successfully proven beyond a reasonable doubt.

"To bring charges when all elements including disproving self-defense cannot be met, would be both unlawful and unethical," McLaughlin said.

The officers were not separated and questioned, as is required by MPD procedure in a shooting incident. They were allowed to watch body cam videos before giving their official statements for the trial. Those statements came later, and sometimes contradict what the officers wrote in their reports, earlier. The police claimed Stalling resisted. The body camera video shows he did not resist. One of the lesser discrepancies is the officers repeatedly referring to the Draco pistol as a rifle.

The new law requires gun owners to report lost or stolen firearms within five days of becoming aware the firearm was missing or face a penalty.

Texas is playing with constitutional fire. Its approach is one that conservatives could never support as a general rule. It could also be used to protect other legislation violating the Constitution, including laws prohibiting ownership or possession of all guns.

As weve previously reported, the Biden Department of Justice is threatening to upend the U.S. firearm industry and how Americans exercise their Second Amendment rights.

On June 10, ATF published a new proposed rule in the Federal Register entitled Factoring Criteria for Firearms with Attached "Stabilizing Braces".

The rule seems aimed at making nearly all configurations of firearms equipped with stabilizing braces subject to the taxation and registration requirements of the National Firearms Act.

The Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources recently reminded hunters (including those who are not required to purchase a license) that they must report their deer, turkey, bear, bobcat or elk harvest using the departments mobile app, internet or telephone harvest reporting systems.

Last year, a hunter introduced me to the eNotch system, which doesnt require you to carry a paper hunting license and big game tags. Instead, you have an electronic hunting license. You electronically notch your tag and register your kill. It was easy, taking about a minute.

The governor championed a proposal in the legislature this year to allow nearly any adult to carry a handgun with no permit or training, a policy that law enforcement leaders joined Democrats in decrying, cautioning it would lead to dire public safety ramifications. To celebrate its passing, Lee held a ceremonial bill signing with legislators at the Beretta U.S.A. gun factory in Gallatin.

Yet he didnt go far enough, some conservatives and Second Amendment groups said, blasting the governor for not having the law apply to carrying rifles or to 18- to 20-year-olds who aren't in the military. The law faces a legal challenge from a group of pro-gun activists because of the age requirements.

Twenty-five years ago, Congress reprimanded the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for its political advocacy of gun control. Now, President Joe Bidens CDC Director Rochelle Walensky is planning a new round of activism against gun owners. In an emotive video interview with CNNs Elizabeth Cohen, Walensky recently signaled her intention to resume CDC research on Americas epidemic of gun violence.

The late, eminent Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, Antonin Scalia, writing for the majority, announced in Heller, what was always patently clear, but often denied: that the right of the people to keep and bear arms is an individual right.

Anti-Second Amendment State Governments, as well as the Federal Government, are always looking for a way to avoid the import of Heller to affirm the legality and Constitutionality of State Action infringing the core of the Right protected.

Now, as of July first, concealed carry, even without a permit, is legal in Iowa. The right of hunters to own and use the weapons designed for this purpose has never been seriously threatened.

In light of these well-protected gun rights, we have to wonder just what it is that those who advocate making our county a Second Amendment Sanctuary want? Are there additional gun rights that they seek? If so, precisely what rights? The right to carry military-style assault weapons on the streets of our peaceful towns? Do they seek sanctuary for right wing militia groups?

The comedian Chris Rock once joked that the way to stop gun violence was not to seize guns, but to drive up the price of ammunition.

In other words, make bullets so expensive that people would think twice about shooting.

Perhaps this is President Joe Bidens secret gun-control plot.

Last month, the Biden administration imposed new sanctions on the importation of ammunition from Russia, a consequence of the Kremlins alleged poisoning of opposition leader Aleksey Navalny in August 2020.

The ban on imported ammo comes as demand for bullets is far exceeding supply, and sending prices spiraling upward.

The White House is expected to withdraw its nominee to lead the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) in the face of bipartisan opposition, two sources familiar with the matter confirmed Thursday, dealing a blow to President Biden's efforts to rein in gun violence.

David Chipman, who Biden nominated in April, has faced opposition from Republican senators and pushback from some moderate Democrats concerned about his work with the gun control group Giffords.

The White House did not respond to a request for comment on the pending withdrawal of Chipman's nomination.

The resumption of oral arguments will be different in one other respect: The court will provide a live audio feed of the arguments. Live audio was made available when the justices began hearing arguments by conference call. But before the pandemic hit, the audio of oral argument sessions in the courtroom was not released until several days later.

Interest is already high in the coming term, with challenges to the Roe v. Wade abortion ruling and the first test of Second Amendment gun rights in more than a decade.

The court building remains open only for official business and will be closed to the visitors until further notice, Wednesday's announcement said.

San Diego County Gun Owners, a political action committee promoting Second Amendment rights, is not endorsing a candidate in the recall election, but we are recommending a yes vote for removing Gov. Newsom.

Dont argue over your favorite replacement candidate. Instead, the best way to support your candidate is to encourage more people to vote to recall Newsom. Your second vote will count only if a majority votes yes on the first question.

I acted in self-defense, and most of the officers on the scene told me they wouldve done the same thing, said Farnsworth.

The Problem Solvers made a public records request for the bus surveillance video, but an RTD spokesperson told FOX31 the footage would not be released because its part of a pending criminal case.

However, law enforcement sources told the Problem Solvers the surveillance video backs up Farnsworth, who insisted he had no choice but to use deadly force when he was attacked.

The Minnesota Freedom Fund paid $75,000 cash to get Stallings released from jail on bond. A jury acquitted Stallings on all charges last week.

According to the order from Judge Koch, which allowed Stallings to claim self-defense at trial, the officers who beat the Black man allowed their anger and/or fear to overtake their faculties and they beat Mr. Stallings for nearly 30 seconds before attempting to place him in handcuffs. He added, The video evidence does not support their testimony Mr. Stallings was resisting arrest in any way, instead he surrendered to their authority.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
When Pa was at home the gun always lay across those two wooden hooks above the door. ... The gun was always loaded, and always above the door so that Pa could get it quickly and easily, any time he needed a gun. Laura Ingalls Wilder
