Because they believe Trump's election has emboldened anti-LGBT, anti-immigrant, anti-minority and anti-feminist elements within the population, some liberals are arming themselves.
Local author Layce Gardner said she recently had a frightening encounter, and has purchased a firearm. She will take lessons in its use.
"I am not fond of gun ownership, but since the election of Trump, we are seeing black, brown, and gay people victimized," Gardner said. "I went to buy a gun, and I am taking classes in January so I can carry it with me. A lot of my friends have said they are scared. Some liberals around the country who did not want a gun in any way are buying them after the election of Trump." |

There are a few liberals that support gun rights, but they are too few to matter. And too often, they will vote for a gun banning liberal over a conservative that supports gun rights.
If they get elected to public office, they will vote against restrictive gun laws until their vote actually matters, and then they will vote the party line. |
