The state Legislature on Thursday failed once again to override a veto by Governor Christie, this one involving the purchase of a firearm by someone with a record of mental illness, but the Senate president vowed that the measure will not die.
I am committing to you right now it is coming back until it gets passed, said Stephen Sweeney, D-Gloucester, who fell two votes short of the required two-thirds majority to override the veto. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
Congress have no power to disarm the militia. Their swords, and every other terrible implement of the soldier, are the birthright of an American... The unlimited power of the sword is not in the hands of either the federal or state government, but, where I trust in God it will ever remain, in the hands of the people. Tench Coxe, Pennsylvania Gazette, Feb. 20, 1788. |
