A negative and inaccurate report has surfaced on the internet that speaks rather poorly of me in a number of harsh ways. Because it comes from a respected member of the gun rights community and one of our Featured Writers, I am taking great care in responding to assure that I respond effectively and thoroughly, touching on each allegation contained in this rebuttal to an article I wrote.

Due to the great many productive things that are coming out of this... difference in opinion... I am putting my full attention on the task of responding.

Rest assured. What will come of this is, in my opinion, very good for the gun rights community. The fundamental issues arising from this... disagreement... are among the most important issues we must resolve on a large scale before we truly declare our nation healed and celebrate.

One thing I must say quickly is this: The report claims -- at least 21 times -- that I "lied" and that I "fabricated" in my reporting of a recent gun confiscation.

These allegations are false. (Those of you who have monitored this situation and find that statement preposterous are in for some surprises.)

Though I'd prefer to read, edit and publish these many great articles waiting to go on our site, because this report was spread around the internet in such wide distribution, and because there are so many valuable, liberty-productive lessons contained in this particular document, I simply must respond.

And then we can get back to business as usual.
